agreed... although, using petroleum grease or something to hold the keepers/collets in place on the valve stem might've worked better for reinstalling.
Going to be replacing the head on my 171 CC Big Bore scooter just want to replace the head with bigger valve head will I need to put a base gasket in I would like to just install head and head gasket only does that sound reasonable ?
That's a possibility. You would at least need to use a sealant in place of the gasket though and be careful not to use too much and block an oil passage. I do a bunch of checks to determine what gasket I do or do not need. Compression measurements, squish, piston to valve clearance.
So, do you have to put grease on the keepers or not? I ask because I seen somebody do that and you didn't. My question is does it matter if you use grease or not?
Hey man, Very unrelated question to the video, but kinda figured to ask; I crashed my scoot into a car, And since then the steering has been really tough, not as silky smooth it used be, do you have any idea what i could do to fix it?
ErmaTheKitteh First, hope everyone involved is okay. You will need to take the front end apart and check it out. Could be that something is bent, a lot of times you'll notice the wheel may be turned while the handlebars are straight after a crash which may point to something bent. You may have an issue with the bearings or races in the steering stem now.
***** The one really hurt were me, haha, thankfully but kinda still not recoverd from it but oh well, you live and learn I Guess, The plastics etc were all mangled, so i got to fix that and such, but as for the steering and such, I think the forks/fork stem were bent inwards abit since i notice that the weel has a tendency to hit some of the plastics when bottoming out the dampers (doesnt really normally happen) so i guess it got bent inwards and might be something with a bearing or such, The bike is ridable, but the heavy steering makes it annoying to ride, a local scooter shop said it would cost about 200-400€ for just parts, and a brand new of my bike would cost 900€, so kinda feels like i should invest in it, don't you kinda agree? ( i might only have the scooter for about a month or so, untill i can get enough money for a car)
Yeah, they said that price was just parts too, which kinda is botherting; i was thinking about the forks, do you think it would be a bad idea to bend it back, like move it forward abit? Also for spare parts, there's only the place where i bought the scooter, which is a shame since its kinda a " custom made " scooter, where only one company sells it and such, which is ashake, since for example, your tao tao is like really easy to find spare parts , since its all over the world, with different names here and there. :p
If the stem is bent I'm not a big fan of the idea of bending them back, but others report doing it. I replace mine and would recommend replacement. You have to get the cam and crank synced properly. There are timing marks on the flywheel and on the cam, and if you ignored those the timing would be off and you would be at risk of bending a valve. Hiya I did that and that my bike was working but when I rode it lasted for about 15mins and then bogged down power and then stopped and now can't get it to start any ideas can you help why this is bogging down ??
I have a question I have a gy6 150 I'm thinking of taking off the emissions in my state we don't needed them if I move the emissions it will not hurt my engine it will run ok I really want to take the missions off

Maybe look your scoot up and see what you can find online for parts. I know nothing about your local shop, but you may be paying quite a markup.

Would this work on a 2003 4.0l sohc Ford ranger?
Sure. They make valve spring compressors for that. Don't get one of the small ones like I'm using here for scooter/motorcycle engines.

How do you remove damaged valve guides?
If it's a scooter engine like you see in the vids, it's easier just to get a new head than to bother with valve guides.

It'll run fine as long as you don't leave things unplugged and open to air.
