Stolen Kia leads police on high speed chase through L.A. County

- Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies are in pursuit of a fleeing vehicle believed to be stolen Thursday afternoon. The vehicle appears to be a gray small SUV, perhaps a Kia Soul. It traveled north on the 110 Freeway through Carson at speeds nearing 100 mph before transitioning onto the northbound 405 Freeway through Torrance. Despite the relatively wide-open freeways due to the July 4 holiday, the driver sometimes used the shoulder of the road.

Five juveniles were arrested after fleeing officers in a stolen vehicle and then trying to hide in a residential area of Hawthorne Thursday afternoon. The chase began at about 12:20 p.m., according to Sgt. Sanchez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The smart thing to do is to bring people out of their homes in the apartment complex. Show video of them fleeing from the earlier broadcast and ask them to ID and let them know which unit they live in. You could have the criminals caught in under 15 mins. But the LAPD are just so stupid, so incompetent that they wouldn't be able to think of something so easy to do. It's called getting the village to help out. Those neighbors know those kids, they live in the complex, they can tell you exactly which unit they live in.

Pro tip: If the police cars are pulled off and the only thing tracking is a helicopter, drive to the nearest mall with a parking garage and go inside it, park and walk casually into the mall, there's roughly a minute to get as far away from the car as possible before they catch up. In the garage the helicopter cant' see and the cop cars are too far away to track and chase on foot.

LAPD IRRESPONSIBLE CHASES

When we see the live coverage of the LAPD chasing a stolen vehicle on TV, we hear the narrator of the event, passionately injecting excitement and drama to the ongoing episode as the persuit is in progress. It seems as if all that morbo is purposely directed to the potbelly couch people.
Every move, every close call, and every sign indicating the car thief may give up and surrender to the police, is narrated by the tabloid talking heads like a football championship match. But when the chase turns crazy and the stolen vehicle and the procession of police squads behind it, put the pedal to the metal to reach wreckless speeds, the reporters create the needed suspense and excitement to keep alive the interest of their TV channel viewers. It's as if they expect a deadly collision or for the thief to end up shot dead.
These movie-like police chases are good for the TV shows but not for the innocent people who get killed and badly injured in those irresponsible persuits.
An educated guess tells us that those officers involved in the chase are enjoying the rush of adrenaline provoked by the high speed trailling of a scaping criminal, stimulating their the idea of being seen on TV. They also imagine the rooting of their families and how proud they feel about them. Some of those police officers may also forsee the possibility of a commendation award that could catapult them to a long craved promotion. Not far from that same train of thought we could rest assured that those police officers involved in the chasings suffer from severe psychosis of fear, never away from their guns, even when they are in bed
These high speed processions of squad cars, amid the flying police and TV stations helicopters, have sadden the lives of many families who have lost their love ones as a result of the LAPD officers crazy persuit of a stolen vehicle.
The cost of funerals, hospitalization, rehabilitation of the injured and restitution of property damage, are not part of the expected conscientious work of the LAPD. Their mere goal is to catch the criminal dead or alive, caring very little about the collateral damage, but the Los Angeles population at large, demands for those irresponsible police chases to stop-- now.
