CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Emily (Emily Blunt) is speechless when she sees Andy (Anne Hathaway) after a makeover with the help of Nigel (Stanley Tucci).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Lauren Weisberger's best-selling novel about a young woman who stumbles into the hectic worlds of high fashion and publishing comes to the big screen in this comedy. Andrea "Andy" Sachs (Anne Hathaway) is a bright young woman from the Midwest who has just graduated from college and wants to work as a magazine writer. Andy has applied for a job at "Runway," America's most prestigious fashion journal; though Andy has little to no interest in the garment trade, they are one of the only magazines in New York with a job opening -- second assistant to editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). As Andy quickly learns, Miranda is a diva with plenty of power within the magazine business and she isn't afraid to use it, and though Andy lands the job (primarily by being in the right place at the right time), she soon learns that working for Miranda could test the patience of a saint thanks to her endless demands and refusal to acknowledge the end of a work day. Andy struggles to hold on to the job and her sanity, knowing that a recommendation from Miranda can open nearly any door at any magazine, but can she handle the pressure without losing her mind along the way? The Devil Wears Prada also stars Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt, and Adrian Grenier.

Respect to that one girl who genuinely acknowledged how good she looked despite initially not taking her seriously.
IKR! Go Serena!
Supermodel Gisele Bundchen!

I adore emily blunt's acting👌she is so funny.
That’s supermodel Gisele Bundchen, Tom Brady’s wife.
Anne Hathaway gets a makeover in every movie, not that she needs one 💗😍
Oh how I was wishing somebody to say that. Yes you did. My wishes do come true. Sigh! 😍

@@gabe_liu9095 lmao 😆
abdalminator the most intense one id say

The true villain of the movie is the unsupportive boyfriend and friends who didn’t want her to change or focus on her career
Mikaela Way well she told them that this is not her long term job. She also said that she doesn’t care about fashion, and she even make fun of those girls who work at Runway. Maybe her boyfriend doesn’t like the way Miranda treated Andrea, and Andrea is always busy, she created a big space between them.
Winters on the other side yes your opinion is true also. Maybe because she change too fast like a whole new person. They like the way she used to be, simple, smart, doesn’t care how she looks, have time for family and friends. She admitted at the end of the movie, she doesn’t want her life to be like Miranda’s. Anyway great movie
Mikaela Way there's no true villain or false villain. This whole drama show how they are selfish and just thinking for themselves, they never show cooperative and concern with each other. When beauty outside doesnt match beauty inside.
thank you! they suck!
Actually her boyfriend helped her realise what she really wanted to do in the end. So I wouldn't take him as a villain. Plus I don't really think anyone's actually the villain in the movie.
"you're in desperate need of chanel"
oh aren't we all
🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
I could definitely use some!
Amen!
I have a bit of her perfume.
But the suit, especially in pink, always a go-to
Bring it on! Clothes, perfume, etc.!
The ending of this movie was such crap. All she did was get a decent haircut, some nicer clothes, and started taking her job seriously and her boyfriend acted like she backstabbed him because he wasn’t the center of her universe 🙄
SammietheAverageGirl all of her friends were assholes, frankly.
Elena Christian Her boyfriend is an asshole because he was never supportive. But if we only focus on the last part,he was not wrong. He was not right either.Relationships suffer when you work all the time.Nigel said it himself.I wouldn't want my boyfriend to be at work 24/7 either. Not because I'm the centre of the world or he's wrong for caring about his job,but sadly you cant have everything. If you never have time to spend time together, then a breakup is unavoidable.Look at Miranda for example. It sad that she had so many divorces but at day she was at the office and at night she was taking notes for the book.
Her boyfriend was a total knobhead and so were her friends. Just because your girlfriend wants a career doesn't mean to have to have a tantrum like a two year old and get all possessive. Lots of people starting their career have to sacrifice some things to get a head. I mean if she was a medical intern she'd be starting at 6am everyday or be on call at night. He worked in a restaurant and those aren't exactly family friendly hours. If she was in law or finance she'd have to work late nights and weekends sometimes or if she did real estate she'd have to work weekends. It's not like she cut him off. But she just couldn't go to every single commitment of his and her friends. She got a promotion because her colleague was underperforming and her tosser of a boyfriend told her she was a bad person for taking something that would advance her career and finances was a reward for her good work and was the best business decision for the company she worked for.
Except no??? Clearly all of you need to rewatch the movie. It’s baffling how many people take it as Andy being in the right... when she spends the complete first act maligning the entire industry and everyone in it (sweater scene, “a hundred girls would KILL for that job! But I’m not one of them so w/e”) Her character is notorious for not being a “girly girl” AKA not into fashion, as her friends (including a GAY GUY) tease.
Her career aspirations were NEVER about fashion or being an assistant, but a WRITER AND JOURNALIST. But hey, I digress. People see only what they want to see.
Well she's not right in the beginning. She gets given a job certain to kickstart her career and she whines and doesn't try. But then she pulls her head in and works hard. The fact is if you have career ambitions you have to work long hours and do jobs you don't like and take every opportunity if you want to get ahead. She had career ambitions in journalism and she's working for a magazine. Life is about sacrifice. Her boyfriend would be working long hours in jobs he may not like as a chef and so would her friend putting to get ahead in art. Her partner and friends should be supportive of it.
I love when that blonde hater complemented her sincerly.
sarah Nazaire girl That’s Gisele. Have some respect
That's Serena. She works at the beauty department. She's a lot nicer than Emily. I mean, Emily is an assistant and Selena who actually has an integral role in the producing of the magazine, has no problem hanging with Emily or paying Andy a compliment for making an effort. Was Gisele Bundchen in this movie?
@@collendemerez is that Brady's wife?

First rule of fashion: DON'T ASK QUESTIONS
I read somewhere that Gisele Bündchen agreed to appear in the movie as long as she didn't portray a model.
Yeah, this is truth.
Then it wasn't a cameo. It was a scripted supporting role.
Gui Porto that was Gisele?! Whoa, I hardly recognized her 😂
@@roddo1955 You're right. I stand corrected.
@@PolyBiBadger Same lol
i hope im not the only one but Giselle's acting is good in this scene. i often find models are so awkward in movies but she's relaxed and catty, i love it
Kelly Paytas
I agreed and in one small scene her character showed more depth and dynamics than Emily’s character did for most of the movie. (Not a bad thing, Emily is a very well written static character)
I in truth would’ve loved to see more of her in this movie
Yeah, she did a good job, seemed natural to me.
Agreed. Even just a few lines like hers are enough to trip up someone who doesn’t act on stage, film or TV for a living but she was very natural and didn’t detract from the scene like most non-actors in movies.
I think supermodels can act a little bit. They have to always in front of the camera and on runways. So a small role wouldnt be a problem for them.
Yea she was fine but it’s not a difficult scene to act out.
One of the few times where the girl get's a complete makeover to improve her status career rather for a man (and she's being admired and impressed by other women)
So true. In other movies, they all do it to get their man to notice them
Same for The Princess Diaries
Absolutely.
Kudos to that!
There's nothing wrong with that either. Why are you judging women who do it to attract men? 😒
Emily's acting here is so on point.
she and meryl was the reason why people love this film and they got a critical acclaim
Like always
Does anyone notice that Emily looks kinda like JLaw

Zaeema Khan The character of Serena is played by Gisele Bundchen.
Emily Blunt's character is named Emily.
Most of us don’t believe it
The Attitude change after the makeover was spot. When people KNOW that they look really good when wearing something, an aura of confidence covers them. It's not just theatrical.
I totally agree, I have felt awesome in some outfits haha
2:01 For not knowing her as an actress, Giselle’s line of “you look good” was well delivered: Her mannerisms (closing her mouth before speaking, the delayed nodding of her head) and delivery of the line looked like it was coming from someone who previously disregarded Andy in the fashion department but now is surprised Andy cleaned up as well as she did and recognized it and gave her credit for it
i can't stop replaying it!
"Oh, shut up, Serena." best line in that scene
It's so weird how a makeover suddenly gives Andy an attitude too.
It called confidence:)
she got a confidence boost
+Tiff Dyn actually it's called ponfidence
Sweetie, have you ever worn Chanel anything?
fashion is about attitude ma darling
I feel like I'm addicted to these kinds of fashion makeover scenes.
It's almost like magic what it can do to bring out someone's confidence!
Wish Everyone loves a good makeover scene!
The reactions honestly make these makeover scenes more satisfying honestly
@Wish: That is not genuine confidence, that is keeping up appearances!
No, it's showing you that you can highlight your best and add that to your life
It means a lot to someone that is always feeling down and worthless, because it shows that besides your flaws, you have characteristics to be proud of
In fact, fashion should be used for this, it's something the movie also tries to represent

Nigel: No
*takes Andy to the closet*
Nigel: There's nothing in this whole closet that will fit a size 6

Its one of the best parts of the movie... "No." then magic happens lol
I love Nigel's connection with her. He might've acted like he didn't care, but it was evident that he did. So, even though he said things like "no" and "there's nothing in this whole closet that will fit a size six," he was still determined to find Andy the perfect outfit and help bring out her confidence.

Funny thing is Anne almost didn’t take this role because she didn’t want to do another movie where there was a transformation scene. But what won her over was working with Meryl.
yfroggy13 Yeah Rachel McAdams was the 'It girl' back then. So, she was up for this part at first. But something happened at photoshoot or something and she just quit acting for two years (I don't know what exactly happened).
gisele is so hot here. like... no wonder she always models eyewear. she makes glasses look so chic.

Omg didn’t even realize It was her
Is it her?? I didn't noticed at all!
Ooo, I thought it was her but wasn't sure!!
She agreed to be in the movie on the condition that she didn’t play a model.
I love how jealous Emily get's when Serena said Andy looks good.
despite the pure hate and annoyance I had for the andy from before (before she dropped the self absorption and started taking her job seriously), one thing I really liked about her was that she never took anything to heart and was able to take things light-heartedly. an example of this is: when nigel had made jokes about her which a lot of people wouldn’t have understood and got offended by, yet she was able to see past all that and realise it was just his humour, which ultimately led to him constantly helping and caring for her: the shoes, the makeover, the explanations, friendship, etc. none of those things he was obligated to do.
I adore Emily in this movie!
Even for a college student she was pretty.
Alex Chaudhari for a college student? Lol us women are in our prime in our twenties

Emily has always been smoken hawt.
Those Chanel boots were just amazing.

which boots are they?
Andy is wearing them that evening when she's standing outside waiting for her boyfriend. They are boots that go all the way up to mid-thigh.
Apparently they aren't even available anymore as well
DreadMars
Do what I do, go to China and they’ll recreate them for you for about fifteen dollars.
I love how Nigel gave her a blunt speech and proceeded to help her. He could've just left it at the speech but he made sure she had success.
"You look good."
"What? She does."
"Oh, shut up, Serena."
first time in the movie theater couldn't hold my laughter! Emily Blunt's acting (first time I saw her in a movie) was on top! She was a true scene-stealer!
What I love about this scene is that Serena and Emily actually complimented and appreciated her respectively when she tried to assimilate/understand the industry she entered. Meaning their meaness is not rooted on pure bad behavior rather a disbelief on how she entered a job half assed when a million girls will kill for the job. Only makes the effort payoff more.
GISELE BUNDCHEN MAKES THIS WHOLE MOVIE AMAZING IN THIS ONE SCENE
Let's not exaggerate. No, she doesn't.
+Tanya Marie Alright you're entitled to that opinion.
+Logan Farmer I do love the fact Gisele insisted on playing one of the clackers...
+Logan Farmer I know, right? I didn't even know her when I saw it first, but that scene and the character totally stuck with me

PD: great model, but terrible actress.
She actually improved that line, "What? She does!" at the end of the scene.
who can't help smiling in this scene too ?
Honestly, her boyfriend and friends annoyed me. It's true, she said that this wasn't her long-term job ... but she ended up growing to like her job more than she had thought that she would and wanted to stick with it for longer than what she had in mind. So, instead of being supportive, her boyfriend and friends basically got fed up with how she was focusing more on her career. When you get a job, you have less time to spend with friends and loved ones. That's just basic common sense ... and her job revolved around fashion, which is actually pretty tricky in the society that we are living in.
Her boyfriend and friends were unbelievable, in my opinion. A person has the right to change their mind, which SHE did. She used to not care about fashion and ended up liking it more than she did in the very beginning of the movie.
It's true, you shouldn't work 24/ 7 ... but at the same time, it's not a crime to have your personality expand from gaining knowledge and experience.
In the books it was more justified. She didnt even go to the hospital when her best friend had an accident cause she wanted to work instead. That's why she lost her friends and boyfriend.

I love how jealous Emily got when Simia complemented on how Andrea looked good.
The crew the production company that made The Devil Wears Prada is the same company that made Gossip Girl. The two worlds are in parallel.
Miranda's husband is also seen in Gossip Girl playing Grandpa Vanderbilt
The aerial shots of Manhattan in the trailers are the same. Old Gossip Girl trailer also shows off The Age of Fashion benefit gala of Miranda, Andrea, and Emily inside the gala for a a second. Miranda's townhouse was also Blair Waldorf Designs studio, then the place turned into Chuck and Blair's home where Serena (Van der Woodsen) and Dan got married in the final episode, and if you look closely, the furnitures are exactly the same scene where Andrea delivered the book to Miranda.
Stanley Tucci is a true gem of an actor. In every movie I've seen him play he makes his character memorable and lovable, even if he's portraying a villain (in The Hunger Games for example).
I can't stand this movie trope of "an already-clearly-drop-dead-gorgeous-girl getting a makeover and everybody gets shocked as if they never noticed before that she is drop dead gorgeous."
They weren't shocked that she is drop-dead gorgeous. They were shocked at how well she carried those clothes, after months of seeing her in drab outfits. Listen to Emily and Serena's comments--they asked if she was wearing a pair of highly coveted (I would assume) boots, and that, instead of looking a complete and utter disaster, she looks good.
You also have to look at the context here. She is working for a fashion magazine staffed by mostly women and gay men. None of her co-workers will pay attention to her attractiveness, just in how well-dressed she is. If you saw the movie, she was never once told "you look beautiful" at work, it was always "Andy, you look so chic" or the equivalent.
If it was another movie, I would have agreed with you. But not in the case of The Devil Wears Prada.
I wouldn't call her drop dead gorgeous. She was frumpy with a average face in a sea of glamazon models lol.
what's dumb is that her boss doesn't notice for like a week. Even though she sees her all day every day
Ikr
They don't notice her "beauty" because she lacks confidence (she even wears those ugly clothes all the time before the makeover) and people doesn't like unconfident persons.
"We have to get to the beauty department and God knows how long that's going to take." LMAO!! I keep thinking of her makeover disaster in "The Princess Diaries" and can see it: Miranda fuming because the hairdresser can't untangle Andy's hair!
0:46 - I don't know who would wear that orange coat but I'd rather face Miranda's wrath than wear it!

The casual Mean Girl vibe that is believable and reminiscent of people we know, not the needlessly evil-incarnate mean girls of YA and chick-lit films.
She recites her lines like she's carrying on a conversation, not memorizing a dialogue. And the way that she looks at the door in edgewise when Anne Hathaway entered... so natural.

I love how he says "You'll take what I give you and you'll like it" it's funny but he also says it with such confidence and in the end he does help and they start to take her more seriously. And he didn't have to do it. He could've just let her drown
oh god how much I adore this movie
I love Emily Blunt! She was hilarious.
Gisele improvised the line saying "you look good".
Wow. Groundbreaking.
My favorite scene is when Andy is talking on the phone.
A size 6? Geez, that's tiny...
Not i fashion industry... ;P
I know, right? Pretty crazy!
Size 6 is tiny? Seems pretty average to me
+Love Owls Well - you add 4 for UK sizing, which gives you a size 10 and that's pretty much the smallest size that any store stocks. Some stores go as low as a size 8 (US size 4) but anything smaller than that needs to be ordered in because they know they won't sell it under ordinary circumstances even in stores like Hugo Boss..
I'm a UK size 6/8 and I've never been in a store in the UK that doesn't stock at least size 8. There is less of a selection for size 6 though
It’s amazing what a stylish outfit and adorable shoes can do for a girl’s confidence😍❤️
Those bangs deserved an oscar
You can see why people love fashion especially luxury brands, they can really change your looks and attitude for good!
