well she did not exactly checked in at the hotel. she just called to "reserve" the room , asked for the maid to clean it up. took the opportunity to get in the room while the maid is inside so that she won't need a key. probably no one would check the room until the end of the day since usually reservations are being cancelled if customer dont show up past the check in time.
Well, the first three Ocean's movies had star power galore. This movie just had Sandra Bullock with an expensive new face from plastic surgery. Seriously, she looks a *LOT* like Michael Jackson now.
Personal opinion doesn't mean the movie is good or "thousand times" better. The movie is entertaining and mediocre at best , and mind u these are all ensemble female cast , not some actress u pick off a street , besides newcomer Awkwafina And singer Rihanna. A 2004 movie still made more box office sales than a movie in 2018. That is saying alot. And the studios don't just want your opinion, they want your money. If you don't seem to understand why people hate it, you're just as shallow with those to hate this movie just because of the whole female cast.
@@Forever18or21 both oceans 12 and oceans 8 both made around the same amount of money though. U make it seem like oceans 12 made so much more money but it only made like 65 million more
A lot of people in the comments are saying that "this would never happen." etc. I don't think that's really the point. You're probably right. But it's a movie so a suspension of disbelief is sort of required. But this shows that Debbie Ocean has done this before. Like a lot. She probably knows which stores don't have an alarm or won't raise that many questions about returns. She probably knows which hotels don't do a check on IDs about a room or lack of a security. Confidence is key when people do this kind of stuff but with Debbie there is confidence but this also shows that this is familiarity.
@@doctorfritznoel yeah, the fake heiress brought a reporter to dinner (and the girl happily went) and the fake heiress made the bs excuse of not having her wallet, the reporter got upset about paying such a huge bill (but was happy enough to make the bill as huge tho), and then the fake heiress invited her to a trip, the reporter went, the fake heiress left her with the bill of the trip, and the reporter went on a mad hunt trying to get the girl to pay her back, and found out the heiress wasn't even rich, and her identity was fake, the speculation is that if she (fake heiress) hadn't invited the reporter she could have had another year or two of scams (another hotel was onto her because of a mistake she made)
When people say "that's not how it works in real life" they're not really angry that it doesn't match up with reality. What they mean is the filmmakers failed to create adequate suspension of disbelief. They weren't able to immerse themselves in the story because of how poorly executed it was. This is the thing that movie apologists overlook all the time and it bites them in the rear end.
The movie I watch atleast twice in a year. Cuz I can't get enough of Sandra's scenes of walking down the streets like a stylish and confident women. Same with Cate, Rihanna and anne Hathaway 😭
What i found amazing about this incredible actress is how well she can play a role that is opposite to her true positive, open, happy down to earth personality. She also did it in The Proposal and she nailed it. She acted as a bitchy, distant, arrogant and spoiled woman in both movies, and let me tell you there are a lo - ot of those in real life and unfortunately i met them. So i can say that her work is stunningly faithful.
Yep, like Debbie calling Monica TWO MINUTES after Mrs. and Mr. Randall left the hotel. A Poster pointed out that Debbie should have waited at least an hour to claim that the flight was canceled. 💡
This was immaculate🤣😂. I've worked in retail and there have been many times, both officially and unofficially, that I've been told to not 🚫 physically involve myself with a thief. The store is covered and a nonphysical altercation means the thief, who may or may not be armed, leaves. As for the hotel, that's very likely as it is staff who direct other staff members to deal with guests. Some staff may see 100 guests in a day like Monica at reception or they may not see anyone at all like the maid.
Surprisingly this can work. Not that I tried it but one time i had to return a top so I wore it with the tag, went to the changing room, took it off and returned it without the recipet and got my money back when I could've very easily picked this top up from the start and pulled a Debbie Ocean 😎

I also told her "you are lucky it was me and not someone else, because others would take advantage of this situation" and of course she agreed 😂
i used to work in retail it was an organic store. and whenever a card was decline and if the customer was out of the store, I never even be bothered to chase them, I was letting them to have them for free :) because the company I work was not deserving me to chase their customer....
*I could never have the confidence to do what she did. Not even the stealing part just not stuttering or anything trying to make her believe I’m trying to return them*
Plus it is not worth it, if you get caught. Her character started out the movie in prison, so that's a sign that she doesn't get away all the time. Would you really go to jail/prison and have a criminal record, just for some perfume? You can get similar stuff at the dollar store. Also is she going to go hotel to hotel every night? might as well stay with at a shelter (no different than jail).
@@clairdelune3517 understood. I was just trying to say that if she doesn't steal, then she does not have to worry about getting caught. Plus, she probably attracts other criminals (like her ex). Her best friend is also a criminal and could easily frame her as well. Just sayin'

Ella 1223 It’s more likely than one would think. Front desk/receptionist of such crowded and upscale places are extremely congested. As long as Monica can still remember “Mrs. Randall” (who’s likely elite enough to accommodate at such places), she may notify reservation staff to reopen/hold that room and charge it to their card. A pretty white lady in the lift asking for anyone to swipe to their level because she “left in in her room” or some such? Everyone will gladly do it. And they have been informed to send the maid in so the room will definitely stay open.
maproductions she didn’t need to. She was able to get to the room while the maid was in there. Secondly, she said she was going out for a bit to eat and would be back, so that gave her some time before Monica would even expect her.
It's actually sort of genius because either way she can pick up any item in front of any of the workers and assume she bought the things because from talking with the employee over the counter, you automatically assume they're there to buy the product unless you distinctly listen to the conversation or watch the security camera which is less likely going to happen if anyone knew it was a steal in the first place.
@@kennethhwang3425 i think sometimes you don't gotta ask. From my experiences with hotels (not a weekly thing lol) i remember you just need to scan the key card once and it'll work on all floors
Yes there are cases in which hotels function like that but as far as I can see, a hotel that fancy would have like a lift helper to unload, load baggage and help you with the lift, the fancy hotels I have stayed in tend to function that way since from the looks of it, it’s a type of hotel celebrities or people with money would stay at.

As she was walking around and picking stuff up, I got such strong ASMR vibes, loved it! Also loved this movie!
My boyfriend and I were watching this in the theater, and I was like Wow,...wow that's genius. He was like Do not even try, that'll 100% never work in real life.
Your boyfriend is totally right! It wouldn't.
It might
Why is he saying that to you? Do you have a habit of stealing?
@@melis6294 She most likely DOESN'T steal, but he was trying to prevent her from stealing or attempting to steal. Because her ,"Wow, that's actually genius!" Does sort of imply that she would in real life attempt this when a 100 percent honest person would have said something like,"Wow, I would never do these stunts in real life!"
I'm not gonna lie. This was a pretty well written scene.

Does the cashier really think someone came to return multiple items without having a bag with them?
that's why it's a movie, it's not real life
I work in retail and it happens more than you would think. People just pull clothes out of their purse all the time or come in with it over their arm.
I always just carry returns in my purse lol
"dramatic license"
I always have the items in my hand lmao
This is oddly satisfying. The sound FX and the ambience is so asmr
Still my favorite scene from this movie

Sandra Bullock has such an awesome aura of confidence, she's marvelous.
I remember working as a cashier once, and a FULLY GROWN ADULT tried to pull the same thing. And I glanced at them a few minutes ago grabbing the stuff. So funny 😂
I remember someone on here saying something like,"I am a working Adult who knows better not to steal and don't steal. I thank God that this movie didn't come out when I was a 14 year old kid and actually dumb enough to pull stunts like this I saw in a movie.

She had bags of clothes. I don’t think she went and bought giant bags of makeup and no clothing
Makeup has small sticker sensors actually

Well I'm a girl... And I've never bought makeup n I agree with them...? Don't sensors catch u?
When it comes to perfumes, take the sample bottles. For jewelry, if able, take it off the display. No tags or stickers, no problem.

How can you return an opened perfume bottle with no box or anything ?
@@DixieFaukner That´s the trick, they don´t let you because is opened. So is all yours to take

You...you don’t try to return it. Grab a larger item on top, like a book, put your phone on the bottom(so the bottle/whatever is sandwiched), then flip and put phone in bag or pocket with it.

Confidence speaks volumes in every situation.
At school when this movie came out, our teacher asked to name a few movies about the ocean and then this kid raised his hand and said “The Oceans 8-“
I swear it was so hard to hold in my laugh-
Wha-😀
I love how Sandra looks here, her hair, make up, demeanor😘😍😍
Yeah...no, hotel scene is very unlikely to happen, even if someone checks out and they wish to check back in, a government issued I.D. and credit card needs to be collected.
Yes but you only need one clumsy employee to screw that up.
But she never checked back in. She made sure the maid had the door open. She never directly talked to anyone in the lobby.
well she did not exactly checked in at the hotel. she just called to "reserve" the room , asked for the maid to clean it up. took the opportunity to get in the room while the maid is inside so that she won't need a key. probably no one would check the room until the end of the day since usually reservations are being cancelled if customer dont show up past the check in time.
its a near-flawless plan but most hotels have elevators where you need a key to operate them, but other than that it seems pretty plausible
Itsokayla it did seem like she stayed in the hotel room the whole time, and while on the elevator there were other people which made no use for a key
Idk why ppl hate on this film. It's not the best thing in the world but still it's a thousand times better than Ocean's 12 and 13. Especially 12 ughh
I love how she just asking for the bag, she's really got that audacity :"
I remember a Fan on here saying she wouldn't have given her a bag since she was being REALLY rude.

Yall forgot about the girl who faked being a rich heiress and got everything for free for nearly a year
@@doctorfritznoel yeah, the fake heiress brought a reporter to dinner (and the girl happily went) and the fake heiress made the bs excuse of not having her wallet, the reporter got upset about paying such a huge bill (but was happy enough to make the bill as huge tho), and then the fake heiress invited her to a trip, the reporter went, the fake heiress left her with the bill of the trip, and the reporter went on a mad hunt trying to get the girl to pay her back, and found out the heiress wasn't even rich, and her identity was fake, the speculation is that if she (fake heiress) hadn't invited the reporter she could have had another year or two of scams (another hotel was onto her because of a mistake she made)

me, an intellect: it's just a movie why ya mad
true, but it should be "I, an intellectual"...
Be right back y’all I’ve got some Christmas shopping to do 😂
The movie I watch atleast twice in a year. Cuz I can't get enough of Sandra's scenes of walking down the streets like a stylish and confident women. Same with Cate, Rihanna and anne Hathaway 😭

This scene will forever remain brilliant
The sound of heels and glass bottles are so ASMR lol
What i found amazing about this incredible actress is how well she can play a role that is opposite to her true positive, open, happy down to earth personality. She also did it in The Proposal and she nailed it. She acted as a bitchy, distant, arrogant and spoiled woman in both movies, and let me tell you there are a lo - ot of those in real life and unfortunately i met them.
So i can say that her work is stunningly faithful.
That sigh and dropping down on the bed like she just came home from a hard day of work 😂
You can say there are many plot holes in her actions. But you got to admit this scene was well-written and so brilliant!
Yep, like Debbie calling Monica TWO MINUTES after Mrs. and Mr. Randall left the hotel. A Poster pointed out that Debbie should have waited at least an hour to claim that the flight was canceled. 💡
this scene will always be iconic to me
This scene is what sold this movie for me.
She made it look so easy
This was immaculate🤣😂. I've worked in retail and there have been many times, both officially and unofficially, that I've been told to not 🚫 physically involve myself with a thief. The store is covered and a nonphysical altercation means the thief, who may or may not be armed, leaves. As for the hotel, that's very likely as it is staff who direct other staff members to deal with guests. Some staff may see 100 guests in a day like Monica at reception or they may not see anyone at all like the maid.
person watching from the cctv room: 👁👄👁
They never do anything trust meee they only check them if something serious happened
Surprisingly this can work. Not that I tried it but one time i had to return a top so I wore it with the tag, went to the changing room, took it off and returned it without the recipet and got my money back when I could've very easily picked this top up from the start and pulled a Debbie Ocean 😎
Love this movie beautiful Sandra
She looks amazing.
Lol i remember one time i was at the store buying perfume and since i am regular client of this store i had a small chat with sales girl, so she forgot to take the money from me, so did i 😂 i took 3 expensive perfumes for free and left 😂😂😂 in 30 minutes this girl called me, firsthand she checked if she was calling on a right number i confrimed and then she asked me to go back and pay, i went back and paid 😂 you should've seen her relived face. I also told her "you are lucky it was me and not someone else, because others would take advantage of this situation" and of course she agreed 😂
Thats good to hear she followed up. The same thing happened to me at a restaurant that I frequent, I forgot to pay and they called me to check.
i used to work in retail it was an organic store. and whenever a card was decline and if the customer was out of the store, I never even be bothered to chase them, I was letting them to have them for free :) because the company I work was not deserving me to chase their customer....
She had two other items that she didn’t place on the counter 😮
just realized that she not only wants the maid to clean up the room but also have the door open for her bc she has no key
This movie is so awesome I think it’s even better then the other movies with the guys.
all of those other bags means she literally spent the whole day just conning other stores lol
Amazing scene. What a way to start a movie.
And that is how you pull off a con successfully, love this movie
I bet a lot of people tried to do this after seeing this movie!
GENIUS!
smooth and confident
*I could never have the confidence to do what she did. Not even the stealing part just not stuttering or anything trying to make her believe I’m trying to return them*
Plus it is not worth it, if you get caught. Her character started out the movie in prison, so that's a sign that she doesn't get away all the time. Would you really go to jail/prison and have a criminal record, just for some perfume? You can get similar stuff at the dollar store. Also is she going to go hotel to hotel every night? might as well stay with at a shelter (no different than jail).
@@doctorfritznoel she got in jail bc she was framed by her ex for the crime that she didnt do😶
@@clairdelune3517 understood. I was just trying to say that if she doesn't steal, then she does not have to worry about getting caught. Plus, she probably attracts other criminals (like her ex). Her best friend is also a criminal and could easily frame her as well. Just sayin'

em did monica seriously not think “huh, that doesn’t look like mr&mrs randal??”
she never saw her. but she should have been suspicious when they never picked up another room key. but i'm sure after she left her shift she would assume the next person would handle it.
maproductions true but i’m sure she would have to let them know who she was as she doesn’t check in
Ella 1223 It’s more likely than one would think.
Imagine having the coolest scene in the movie at the beginning 🤪

@@pathetic2399 Let's see what you look like😂
this is the most badass scene ever
I cant stop watching the sound and noise was too good for me
It's actually sort of genius because either way she can pick up any item in front of any of the workers and assume she bought the things because from talking with the employee over the counter, you automatically assume they're there to buy the product unless you distinctly listen to the conversation or watch the security camera which is less likely going to happen if anyone knew it was a steal in the first place.
as someone who works in a hotel, i absolutely HATE IT when people steal off my housekeeping cart. it’s not so hard to ask for things .
My guy😅
The hotel thing would never happen. In a lot of hotels now you can only open the elevator with your card
mit suko there were other people in the elevator tho
Kat Mon Yup, a prerty well dressed lady asking you to swipe to their level because she “left the card in her room” ? Most everyone will do it.
@@kennethhwang3425 i think sometimes you don't gotta ask. From my experiences with hotels (not a weekly thing lol) i remember you just need to scan the key card once and it'll work on all floors
Kat Mon Yup, most hotels’ key card, regardless of the floor of guests, can swipe to almost all guest floors.
Thank You !
