(Incase you're in the market for some Rock Buster prizes. Full disclaimer, I quite enjoy making things so I'll be adding to them over time and I also get 3-4 English pounds when someone actually buys one. Hope you don't mind and as always, I'm massively grateful).
Thanks for all your support, it's a privilege to be able to document these shows for other like-minded people to enjoy.

I'm actually crying just from "wheeere? wot?"
I was laughing so much my wife had to come in to tell me to get it together and be quiet because I was laughing so much I disrupted her meeting
Has me in tears every time I listen to this one 😂
@@markgriffiths6988 To think that 19 years later, this 'tinpot radio' show would be disrupting a video call meeting in a global pandemic
16:40
"for someone who's dad buys them a spade for Christmas, I thought you'd be grateful" is one of the best one liners ever
13:17 Listen carefully, you can hear Karl going "Jonathan! JONATHAAAN!"
I just realised!! Funny, the most exaggerated I've ever heard Karl haha
Oh yeah
Neil handles that call like a pro. Usually listeners are cringy but he nails it.
The Curmudgeon love how sarcastic Ricky and Steve are with him putting on their faux enthusiastic radio presenter voice
Is he American?
Steve: "What's your handicap?"
Neil: "Handicap -- my short game is terrible!"
Steve: (has no idea what he's talking about) "...right, yeah yeah!."
@@masonj910 Clearly. May have been an expat or something.
@@DovahFett sounds like an American with a slight Scottish twang
"Right listen, this is a new feature I've introduced called 'Songs I'd like to play on the radio'"
I don't care how many times I listen to these episodes, the build up and Steve's delivery of this line has me laughing every time.
This is definitely one of my favourite Merchant lines
Underappreciated comment in my view
7:21 "YOU SAID WATER! YOU SAID WATER!"
Lake. You said river.

Neil, if you're listening to this, the xfm community loves you!
Mina F he sounds American
Thanks
You’ll be glad to know I equally love it
cos its true... why would wossy stop by otherwise eh?
Neil Moore are you THE Neil??
'Karl I'd love to say it was a pleasure but it was actually quite creepy' hahahaha
Cweepy.
I laughed for ages at this 😂
Funniest thing Ross has ever said.

I love Neil the prize winner. One of my favourite of the people that phone in. Right up there with the guy that said “it’s all in Karl Pilkington’s mind” and the one that asked for Bowie tickets.
"If Karl could just give it a lick..."
I'm not calling up in relation to anything, I'm just after one of those armbands to go see Bowie on Monday can you sort me out?
I fing love Bowie 🖤🎧☂️
The mystery caller who says, "Can I just say, it's all in Karl Pilkington's mind." is one of my favourite single moments from these shows.
@@arturobandini4078 I like how you can hear Karl laughing at that one too
One of my fav moments: "Ah play a record, play two records".
I love how Ricky and Steve are clearly starstruck with Jonathan Ross and cringingly change their tone to impress him, but Karl talks to him like he's a random bloke.
Oooh you know the signs, you must love a knob at night too
That’s why I adore Karl
samplexample people read wayyy too much into the comedy
@@JackHGUK yea comedians change their style if it gives them more laughs
That's called being real.
"Don't cry... ...it's gay..."
"Clive? We've got a listener called Clive? Wow."
"That's alright!"
You think it's Clive Warren?

Neil is one of the good call-ins. He's a legend
Jezzock 16 thanks
Neil Moore Do you still have your cds they gave you?
I wonder if he still listens to what the kids seem to like.
I wonder if his short game is still terrible
How do they not know what "shoe-in" means??
Whenever Steve tries to sound "hip" I can't help think of him losing his glasses in the pit at RATM hehe
Or his trunks in the ocean.
@Derek Knight lmao I've never heard this story do you remember when/where he told it?
@@fartemis4033 oh no I've deleted that comment do you remember what it was? Shoot
"For someone who's dad buys him a spade for christmas I thought you'd be grateful"
Hahahahahahahaha amazing
Half man, half moth, full legend.
Thanks for sharing these, I don't know what I'm going to listen to when they run out.
Haha, brilliant! I know what you mean... I usually end up just going back to the beginning again :-)
Thanks to Moth Man also but let us not forget barney and RGF toby
Trust me, you'll just start back at the beginning.
The man, the moth, the legend
There's also the HBO shows and the podcast series with the guardian hosted by positive internet
Karl always got slagged off for never understanding idioms, metaphors and phrases etc, yet, Ricky and Steve don’t get “you’re a shoe in” and later on Steve never got “there’s an elephant in the room”
Well, they ARE pseudo-intellectuals...
@@williamsmith666 Oh, there goes the r/rickygervais crowd.
Anne Thurst..
Rubby, or diamondo
We've got 'the pope.' That's not strictly a question.
Has any one else noticed how Ricky and Jonathan Ross’s relationship is suspiciously similar to that of David Brent and Chris Finch...
Spot on
So accurate
Is Steve Gareth in that scenario?
A bromance
This has got to be in the top ten XFM shows ever. Non stop gold
Ricky won't know because he never payyyys
love how Karl sneaks that in after the "where wut"
16:40 - "....Where...what?" xD
36:09 - "Rickeh! Help!"
Joey Lock 😂😂😂
Neal is the best phone call they’ve ever had. I can actually listen to the whole thing. Most others make me cringe.
smelly eyebrows
What is with you people and "cringe?*
@@williamsmith666 lack of social exposure leads to adults that find normal situations "cringe"
It's not normal situations at all times i fast forward the callers aswell becuause it just does not mesh well with the show @@OwMeEd
In fairness, smelly eyebrows was the definition of cringe even for socially well-adjusted people
This episode is so shoddy it's hilarious 😂
Steve calls him Karl Pinkerton lmao
22:26 a foreshadowing of how Karl will later think about his “cryptic” Rockbusters clues
Exactly
Love how sarcastically enthusiastic they are with the phone in guy.
"Amthurst"
ou7ofspace i like how Karl couldnt pronounce "Behemoth" and guessed that it was "Bethlehem"
@@craigmcmillan7401 lol yeah.
That song don't cry its Christmas is in Life on the road.. Saw it the other day, I was the only one in the cinema lol..
When I went it was empty as well, pretty average film tbh.
I love the fighting over the first two points. They ended up even and the fight is awesome.
“This a new feature called ‘Songs I Like To Play’”. Genius
Neil was brilliant, wasn't he? A Canadian far from home, randomly roped into the tin-pot universe.
I hope he's still out there somewhere, doing well.
His son posted in the gervais subreddit a while back a lot of people were telling him Neil was great so at least he knows!
@@samcdisney17 That's both brilliant and hilarious.
I love Karl calling out 'Ricky! HELP' at the end 😂😂😂
I love them arguing over the trivia. Has to have been the inspiration for the trivia scene in The Office.
Can we all agree that Neil is the best caller on the XFM show?
Alongside the woman who says she'd like to see Karl lick Ricky's nipple
I lost it at ‘Which food...kind of doesn’t make you fat?’ 😂
Smerch is really in his element in these earlier ones.
hip hop huway.
"that's the worst feature on Bwitish Wadio!"
watching these high for the first time high, im noticing just how perfect the chemistry between the them legendary only radio worth listening to first listen was 2012ish
This is a new feature I've introduced called "songs I'd like to play on the radio"
Karl laughing at 8:30
David Mcmenemy what does Ricky say to make him laugh « he wears a des.. hat »?
@@MegaWilly34 In case you listen again: He wears a dustman's hat. From an old song called My Old Man's a Dustman
Karl picking those questions is just unforgettable. Just picked the most unintelligible questions (to him.)
I just realized this episode answered a very important question: The reason why Karl never writes anything down (like the clues for Rockbusters) isn't because "he doesn't want Ricky to see the answers" but because he has a hard time reading EVEN HIS OWN HANDWRITING and got embarrassed when called out on it by Ricky and Steve.
Notice this was the only time he ever did this. The only other time he ever tried reading something was a flier for K Fest and he couldn't even pronounce "Behemoth" and instead said "Bethlehem".
@@RN-ez1iiI think you’re reading too much into it. He probably just scribbled questions down quickly and in the case of amethyst or behemoth probably didn’t know the words in the first place. I think it’s him thinking he doesn’t need to write things down and then eventually realizing it’s funnier when he doesn’t.
Without a doubt, this is my favourite episode EVER. Dennis the stone! Where, what! 😂😂😂😂😂
i've been listening to these pods since I was at school and now I'm Steve's age in these pods! He achieved so much so young
It’s not an exaggeration fir me to say that this channel has kept my sanity whilst working from home, so thank you Man Moth
This has to be one of my favourite episodes of the entire XFM back catalogue
falling asleep to these again.
Had they already written the episode of the Office with the quiz night before this aired? Because Ricky and Steve behave exactly like Brent and Finchy 😂
Can probably listen to these for the rest of my life, I put them on when I’m going to sleep so end up missing most of them 😂
....aaaannnddd back to the start again
Lois Lawrence I'm with you my man! Nothing even comes close to these.
16:40 the greatest question ever asked on radio
Karl’s incompetence in this episode is quite shocking. They have a go at him a lot and I usually think ‘oh he’s not that bad’ but he’s really quite incompetent here.
Genuinely, I'd be livid if I had a worker like that. Useless. He acts as if he didn't do anything wrong and it was the QUESTIONS fault too. Strange.
It’s 2020 and this is my 5th time going through this entire XFM catalogue
"I'd like to buy this pub. That'll be a million pounds."
Nice one Man Moth! Thanks for the upload! :o)
Karl joining in with Steve’s “Hip Hop Hooray” at 31:14 is the most enthusiastic i’ve ever heard him 😂
"Look at that! Topaz, Look at that! Vatican City"
MUCH LOVE ❤️! You've got me through a harsh addiction Gervais, Pilk & Merchant! #headlikeafingorange
Bob Holness wan't the first James Bond anyway. Barry Nelson played him in a CBS adaptation 2 years earlier.
GEEK POINTS +6
*Achievement Unlocked*
Well by that logic, James Bond was the first James Bond. (The author Ian Fleming took his name from.)
@@Asidders Unless that James Bond also played a character created by Ian Fleming that was named James Bond, it isn’t the same logic. It is interesting to think that the first Bond was actually an American though.
That Neil guy must have had some media training, he’s fluid as fuck with those answers. Just a real good way about him for radio. 10/10 caller
“Ricky won’t know cause he never payyyyyysss”
It always bothered me that Seve complains about Ricky not writing down the answer, when 5 minutes ago he did the exact same thing. And Karl asking the other two questions before realizing he couldn't read his own writing...what frustrating radio for the lisener haha
+Andrew B It's a bit of harmless fun, it's a good laugh.
Series 0 had a part where Steve discusses trying to sell a game show idea where he simply came up with the name and didn't know how the game was meant to be olayed.
Something he gave Karl a lot of shit for later down the series' run.
The twat.
Neil is a gem compared to other callers
Best caller ever
Just listened to Feeder for the first time in ten years because of this show
I rewatch these early ones to see the early evolution of their friendship.
In these early recordings, i feel like Steve was more interested in Karl and brought him out first... then Ricky jumped on him, literally!
If you went in there and bought a big round...it's a dear pub
Dear Streets 🇯🇲

Ok
‘Don’t cry it’s Christmas’ made it into the David Brent movie

Series 1 Merchant is the best Merchant.
Jonathan Ross is on excellent form here.
wish we couldve heard DONT CRY ITS CHRISTMAS :)
Jonathan Ross cameo was great.
This episode is glorious mess of a radio show.
Anyone else listen to this show while playing video games?
2:37 - 3:14 the quiz introduction is already gold
Steve genuinely dead jealous of ricky and Johnathons friendship
Neil is definitely more bearable than the smelly eyebrows women...
31:10 blimey that's a lively little "heeeey!" from Pilkington there. Surreal to hear him break from his usual Manc droning.
What Bob Dylan song was that again...If You See a Sailor??? hahaha
If you see her, then say hello
Emily J Oh, hello!
‘Ricky, tell him. Tell him Ricky! RICKY! HELP!’
I wonder if Neil has ever listened to this...
He's still working on his short game
He probably has. The kids seem to like it.
@@LewisTheGrim This is a brilliant comment.
Missed these original broadcasts
I can’t tell you how happy I am these was uploaded.
Was this show broadcasted on Saturdays ? ?
"Anthirst."
Lol.
Imagine if Karl had stuck to not wanting to to tell them where he's going on holiday throughout the entire run of the show.
25:20 I love the way he says that
16:35 “wheeeere?.. wot?”
28:00 imagine someone saying “it’s a little gay” on radio in 2020 😂😂
I love that we get to hear the moment Karl meets Jonathan Ross
Hate the way Steve condescends to Neil. Surely they had a chat with him off-air to make sure they didn't put on a nutter and could make a link out of it, and he and Ricky were having such a nice little chat (even better than the Ross conversation)
36:05 "get off! Ricky tell him.. Ricky! Heeeelp!" oh KARL.
I feel like they play the real slim shady so much on this show
