@Rahmir Powell It'd be the same as 8-8 and also a major anomaly. Consider that no team has even tied _two_ games in a season since they introduced overtime 45 years ago. Let's be very clear, the 2007 New England Patriots would be considered the greatest team in NFL history if they had won Super Bowl XLII. The average score of a Patriots game that season was something like 37-14, which is utterly ridiculous. Tom Brady and Randy Moss broke their respective position's single season touchdown record that year (to my knowledge, Moss's 2007 touchdown total is still the single season record for wide receivers), and the defense was one of the best in all of football. It took the full power of the Giants' magic horseshoe to prevent the perfect season.
One of the biggest things to consider when talking about the 15-1 teams is the point differential formula, that calculates a team's "expected" number of wins based on points scored minus points given up. Sometimes teams outplay their point differential, and have a better record than what they really should. For all of the 15-1 teams in NFL history, none of them actually had an expected win total of 15. Ironically the 84 49ers and the 85 Bears, using the point differential formula, had expected records of 14-2, which are the highest on the list, and also coincides with them being the only Super Bowl champs on the list as well. The 98 Vikings, despite going 15-1 actually had an expected record of 13-3, while the last 3 teams on the list all significantly outplayed their point differentials, and were all expected to just go 12-4. Basically, only the 1st 2 15-1 teams were truly dominant, while the other 4 teams were good, but not historically great. And just some more random point differential facts: the highest "expected" win total in NFL history was the 85 Bears with 14.1 expected wins, the 2007 Patriots expected win total was actually 13 wins, and the biggest overachievers in NFL history for the point differential formula were the 1992 Colts, who won 9 games, despite having an expected record of 5-11.
That's a very black and white way of looking at things. While I'm not against analytics and actually personally use them as reference, you can't look at things on such a basic level. You need to look at deep metrics and see if you can notice trends in which areas are similar between each team you're comparing. Example: a team might have a slightly above average offense and defense, but their redzone offense and defense may be top 5. Often times the difference between an 11 win team and a 13+ win team isn't point differential or even complicated metrics, rather situational execution at a higher level. Edit: Also analytics can't capture the players' and coaches intangibles, as well as experience level of the team (especially the important players in impact positions). Coaching in general is also something that matters.
The Broncos totally shut down Cam. It's too bad the Panthers defense played very well that game, but Cam and the offense played like total bums. 1 fumble six, 1 fumble inside your own 10. Pitiful.
If Panthers could've put one drive together in the middle of that game and scored they would've won, denver was shutting them down, but they were shutting denver down too, you knew it was going to come down to which offense after enough opportunities would figure out how to finally put it in the endzone and denver finally hit paydirt.

I mean 15-1 teams losing to 14-2 teams, shouldn't really be that shocking. It's not like losing to a 7-9 team that only made the Playoffs through a horrible Division. As for Cam, I don't know if he was scared of the Broncos, but I noticed early on (during the anthems actually) how nervous he seemed, pacing around, stepping from one foot on the other. His play reflected that and he couldn't recover.

If the 2011 Packers had one weakness, it was their defense. The 11 defense was far weaker than the 2010 defense. Why? Because GM Ted Thompson let go of D lineman Cullen Jenkins. Although he wasn’t a star, he was a solid contributor along with Ryan Picket and BJ Raji. The other problem was the loss of their 3 year straight Pro Bowl and All Pro Safety in Nick Collins. Collins was going to be one of the best safeties of the decade but in Week 2, Collins went out with a career ending neck injury. Without Collins, Green Bay’s secondary was much worse than 2010. Sure they could win 1-1 matchups thanks to Charles Woodson, Sam Shields, Tramon Williams and Davon House but without Collins, the deep secondary would get constantly burned. Then the final failure. They rested starters for 2 1/2 weeks. In the second half in their second to last game of the season, several starters like Greg Jennings, Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews and Charles Woodson all were pulled and rested the next week too. Then add a bye week and you get 2/12 weeks of not playing. They were INCREDIBLY rusty going into that game against New York. If they hadn’t have rested starters, they would have repeated.
Ironically the best 15-1 teams are most overlooked. 1984 49ers were far better team than 1985 Bears but Bears got all the media “hype”. The Bears won only 1 playoff game in 1980s while 49ers were team of the 80s. Similarly the 2004 Steelers were less “sexy” with their 15-1, while a team caught cheating ended that season; the same “core” team went to 3 Super Bowls in 6 seasons. Carolina & Minnesota were one year flukes and Green Bay is somewhere in middle-they did win it; but never lived up to overall potential
Im still shaking my head about that 98 Vikings team, even after all these years, and I never was a Vikings fan! but they were so much fun to watch that season
The '98 Vikings had a gaudy 15-1 regular season record, sure, but they also had a somewhat 'soft' schedule as compared to the 49ers and the Falcons. The Falcons themselves went 14-2, and considering that (1) their tougher schedule, including facing division rival SF TWICE, and (2) they'd just come off a tough playoff game against the same 49ers, they were likely just about evenly matched with the favored Norsemen. In the playoffs, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. As for the '84 49ers and the '85 Bears being unable to match that gaudy success, that's football. With the relatively short career of an NFL player and a slew of replacements coming out of the colleges, the turnover is quick. Plus, the system is designed to help the weak teams rebuild, so they (hopefully) don't fade into obscurity.
Should’ve called a penalty on the blocker during that 98-99 NFCC game. Tough loss for a team that definitely would’ve made that years super bowl more watchable. Would’ve been cool to finally see the Skol crowd happy with a SB championship
If the Vikings win that game, and go on to play the Broncos it would've been the first Superbowl with both teams that scored 500+ points in the regular season. Still amazes me in this era of high flying offense that hasn't happened yet.
The 2010 Green Bay Packers which is my team after they finished 15-1,the reason why they fizzled out is because the defense that year was figured out & were lazy. After finishing in Top 3 in defense for 2 straight seasons, they took a HUGE step back. Everyone figured out the Nickel Psycho package of Dom Capers. Plus factor in injuries with the secondary as well
So Hiding do you Root for the New Jersey Jets, another team in the Afc east, the New Jersey Giants or after a while it's time to see another team win? did I miss a choice if so fill me in?
Seems like the best NFL record for winning the Super Bowl is 14-2. The 1991 Washington Redskins were 14-2 and won the Super Bowl that year and have been called one of the greatest Super Bowl Winning teams ever.
Teams with two losses fair way better than one loss teams. The patriots have had 4 14-2 teams in their history. 3 of them went all the way. The 49ers in 1989 went 14-2 and went all the way. The Giants in 1987 and Broncos in 1998 also were the same.
The Panthers only played 3 playoff teams when you really think about it, the Redskins won a weak NFC East by default and got trounced in the first round.
As a very young packer fan at the time, I cried at both losses during the 2013 season. If we had a coach with the competence of Lafleur maybe we would’ve gone undefeated that season. But nope we had McCarthy, not a guy known for being highly competent. Tho maybe I just feel entitled to success as a packers fan, I’m not much used to losing. Tho heart break still comes creeping every January 😔

Sadly OBJ and the Giants receivers wanted to pull a Vikings and go on a hooker party boat the day before the 2016 playoff game and they played as shitty as the Packers did, even though Eli played very well himself, which is a shame. Considering how shitty Eli could look in the regular season, of his different postseason runs he only played poorly in his first game and the 2008 game against the Eagles. Too bad the organization shit on his career after 2011

18-1 still haunts me to this day...like how do u not win a sb with Brady ,welker and moss with a great defence
As a huge auburn and panthers fan, i think Cam doesnt love the game anymore
Yes me too man... I have been telling all my friends that down here in Carolina. He made his Millions and just kinda gave up after that Super Bowl game. Now all he cares about is his fucked up fashion sense. And don't get me started on that bullshit. Man comes out looking like Madea on crack... 😂 😂
I bet he gave up because he was told to give the SB to Manning so he could go out on top. And don't get me started on the Cam Newton/Heuy P Newton (black panther party) connection and what Beyonce wore at that superbowl to prove this point of mine.
Chad Wilson 😂Thanks for the lol
Sammy0071993 that does make sense since it was Peyton last season but idk
I love your homemade ads man. They're as fun as the topics in your videos... Love your channel man.

Rip patriots 18-1 season
6 rings.2018 champs
ThunderCleez66 for there 2007 season when they went 16-0 regular season
@@user-73a 6 rings will never get rid of the stigma of 18-1, unless Brady and Co. can do the impossible.
Edit: my comment aged poorly.
@@idgafos1051 i think it already has. the patriots arent like the panthers where they had 1 shot at greatness and didnt come back. lost that 1 game but are still the best team in football
05 and 09 were the only seasons the patriots won less than 14 games when making the playoffs in the belichick era
The second best record is 15-0-1 since they have a dumb tie rule in some of the games
a tie cannot happen in the playoffs, its until someone scores.
Him: *15-1 is the second best possible record*
*15-0-1:* *Am I a joke to you?*
Rip Patriots if this happen
Well 16-0 didn't help them much either

‘85 bears did just fine
That black cat jumping across the screen legit made me laugh out loud. Hilarious. Good vid.
Eli Manning has more super bowl wins than Aaron Rodgers lol
Manning is a hall of famer just cause he’s old doesn’t mean he’s not one of the greatest
@@fredstudios2593 Lol no
He’s not one of the greatest but he will be in the hof
And a third of the talent

Again... I reiterate the missed opportunity for a Magnum PI skit, in your last video's ad portion... you even had the perfect attire, for such a skit. Be my Tom Selleck, won't you please? Lol
Cheers, FPV!
“Your overconfidence is your weakness”
Seriously! They get hyped so much then choke when they have to win when it really matters.
I’m sad no one understands the Star Wars reference
@@_nso_12 I'm sure everyone gets it we're all nerds it's both funny and true 👍
Yeah they ignored those holes and just said “We have Aaron Rodgers! He’ll carry us to another Super Bowl!”
So no one gonna address that Eli beat 2 teams that had a combined 31-1 record in his 2 SB runs?
I was at that Packers-Chiefs game. In full Packers gear, with my brother and dad, also decked out in Packers apparel.
I still haven't gotten over it.
The black cat animation had me literally laughing out loud 😂😂😂😂
Im still shaking my head about that 98 Vikings team, even after all these years, and I never was a Vikings fan! but they were so much fun to watch that season
Classic Vikings missing field goals
5:30 That subtle reference made me chuckle.
Uh I'd say 18 - 1 is a darker curse, and this is coming from a Patriots fan
Rich L as a fellow patriots fan I weep about it every night
2/3 teams finishing 18-1 won the SB, lol sorry buddy.
Every Patriots fan could see the holding on that pass . The giants surely made up a set of super bowl rings for those awesome referees...
18-1? That's impossible
Stfu patriots fan
This guy might be the most uninterested but still interested guy on the planet
With the 17 Game Season, do y’all think that 16-1 will be the new curse or will it be 15-2?
Probably 15-2
6:02 that year's Lombardi actually belongs to the refs, but they were kind enough to let Pittsburgh have it.
This video makes me love the 15-1 85 Bears even more 😊
I remember as a panthers fan in the heart of panther country, the day after the Super Bowl the entire class was depressed for the next week.
Half of these 15-1 seasons my Broncos ended up winning the Super bowl. 💪
“This video is brought to you by raycon”
Me: laughs in airpods
9:10, That image is what anyone will think of when they hear Cam Newton
The 2010 Green Bay Packers which is my team after they finished 15-1,the reason why they fizzled out is because the defense that year was figured out & were lazy. After finishing in Top 3 in defense for 2 straight seasons, they took a HUGE step back. Everyone figured out the Nickel Psycho package of Dom Capers. Plus factor in injuries with the secondary as well
The 15-1 teams failed because they had easy schedules.
I remember being the only one out of like the 12 people watching the panthers broncos Sb at my place that said the broncos were gonna upset
Patriots: well we would never know cause we had a 16-0 season
Giants: unfortunately for you History will not see it that way.
Wow just now realized that most 15-1 teams either lose the SB or get eliminated before they even get there.
Those two shots at my Pats weren’t needed 😢😢😢
Shots at the pats are always needed
Woah this channel has really grown since I first watched your NHL videos and giveaways
What about the MVP curse?
Now we need to find out if the curse is passed down to 16-1 teams or if the curse will stay at 15 wins

The next best thing after seeing the patriots lose a Super Bowl is watching them not get a perfect season
So Hiding do you Root for the New Jersey Jets, another team in the Afc east, the New Jersey Giants or after a while it's time to see another team win? did I miss a choice if so fill me in?
What about seeing them win the superbowl last year? 6 rings is the next best thing after the 5th one.
Patriots DID go 16-0, in 2007. In fact they went 18-1 losing SB to Giants. You were probably a toddler then.
Mark Santucci nope I’m a lions fan
Mark Santucci which is also sad

It’s crazy how close the Panthers were to going 16-0.

Madden 20 franchise: You could win in your sleep
Me:15-0-1
Dang it
Seems like the best NFL record for winning the Super Bowl is 14-2. The 1991 Washington Redskins were 14-2 and won the Super Bowl that year and have been called one of the greatest Super Bowl Winning teams ever.
The Patriots won the Super Bowl THREE times when they were 14-2 in the regular season
I wonder how the 15 curse will affect the new 17 game schedule.
Alot of teams are going to start going 15-2. Or will 16-1 be the new curse...
You also forgot to mention that before the Packers Giants games the Packers offensive coordinator lost his son days before the game
JJ Halley is that why the packers wrs kept dropping passes?
Packers played bad and mccarty dont make ajusts on time, and Giants are pretry solid team.
Why does it skip at 2:53? Did RUclips cut something?
Oh people have DEFINITELY heard of Ray J
As a very young packer fan at the time, I cried at both losses during the 2013 season. If we had a coach with the competence of Lafleur maybe we would’ve gone undefeated that season. But nope we had McCarthy, not a guy known for being highly competent. Tho maybe I just feel entitled to success as a packers fan, I’m not much used to losing. Tho heart break still comes creeping every January 😔
I knew the vikings, packers and panthers weren’t good enough to win the super bowl in their 15-1 seasons.
don't forget the 2004 steelers to. they ended up 15-1 regular season record but to be raped by brady and the patriots in the afc championship game!
Those Steelers actually may have had the toughest regular season of all 15-1 teams. So that was likely a choke job honestly.
Are we just not going to talk about the random ass cat 3:25 ?
Nothing beats the Browns 0-16 >>>>
Probably the greatest 0-16 team in history. Literally should have had 5 wins at least
Love how the last still of Pretty-Boy Brady on his back lingers just a bit longer than all the other images you put in this vid lmao. God, I miss that pass rush
What about 14-2, I'm looking at you Jacksonville.
For the life of me I will never understand how the put up 62 points to end Marino and Jimmy Johnson's careers one week and then the following week only 14 points at home in the AFC Championship Game lol
I lost it wen you brought the 2015 Panther's cus i am a panther fan
A 14-2 season is a darker curse
99 Jaguars. Lost only 3 games. All 3 to the fucking one yard short Titans. 14-2 regular season.
Colts 14-2 season and they didn’t even try the last two games cause they had already clinched home field advantage... then they go on to lose the Super Bowl.
@fisher foster New England also went 14-2 in both their 2003 and 2004 super bowl winning seasons.
Giants stomped that GB ass in that game. Loved every minute of it.
