Thank you for sharing your knowledge about how to replace the drive belt on a Toro walk behind lawn mower. Setting the mower across one table and resting the handle bar across another table next to the mower as you did surely makes doing this repair much easier than trying to do everything on a cement garage floor.
Excellent! Not including the drive to town for the part, it took me less than 15 minutes to do this and works like a charm now! $18 for the belt saved me $95 repair bill. I had a slightly different model with an extra drive guard on it and was three allen wrench screws more work...less than a minute.
Thanks for sharing the video. I personally remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug whenever I am doing anything with the blade or blade area just as a safety precaution.
Great video. However, I still have problems with adjusting the self-propelling feature. I have the new belt installed but maybe there is a another part causing the problem.
great video but the link to get my drive belt was not helpful in my case. It could not find the belt for the PH-XT675-2070 mower. The link seemed to take me to engine parts. Frustrating.... I got the belt off but guess I will go to a local shop and ask for a replacement.
LOL. I have a 20016 too that needs fixing. Bought the new belt and now have to change it which is why I watched this video. Toro 20016 is the best! Better than anything made after it, except maybe the 20065, which I have too. It's such a powerful mower on my thick torpedo grass. I consider it like an elephant, so beefy. I've taken new Toro mowers back for refunds because they weren't as good as this model. I'll keep repairing it until I can't anymore.
You may want to loosen the bolts under the transmission pulley and tip it forward to be able to install the belt on the pulley. Then pull the pulley back into position and tighten the bolts
+Americana I just got that metal cover off today. The screws had a square hole on them, so my brother machined an old bit to fit the squares. Then, we just unscrewed them with the tool we made. My brother thinks it is Toro's way of getting you to take the mower to a Toro dealer.
After following these great instructions I found out that my belt wasn't bad at all. I just needed to adjust the drive cable. Thanks a million.
Always glad to help!

Mine was a 20331 model (2009) and the belt is 117-1018

Well-presented and easy to follow. Thanks for the simple instructions on adjusting the drive cable too.
All I needed to know. All the "Go Ahead"s weren't really necessary, but very informative!

Please tell us to disconnect the spark plug before turning the mower on its side.

Good explanation, my mower is a little different, but this will work.
Great video. However, I still have problems with adjusting the self-propelling feature. I have the new belt installed but maybe there is a another part causing the problem.

Thanks mate, better mower than those cheap Chinese jobs :)
Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved it I hope it isn't the trans
I can't get the new belt on. It is just too tight. I got it for the toro 22 inch fwd mower.

If only it were so simple! There's a metal cover underneath the top cover which I can't figure out how to remove.

You should have change the blade it is chewed up
what about rear wheel drive?
Must have bought the wrong belt, mine won't go on the easy.
there isn't the part we need fix here.
Will ya STOP saying "go ahead"!
If the pulley set-up on my Toro was as easily accessible, might've fixed mine so quickly.
