Fantastic!! I just bought one of these 48 inch Ransome Bobcat mowers and I am restoring it over the winter. I am also building a sulky. The prices on these things are through the roof.
Sulkys are ridiculous!! I listed my Bobcat for $200 because I have so many projects that I was not able to get to it over the winter. I replaced the blown Kawasaki 14.5hp engine and replaced it with a rebuilt Briggs 14.5hp engine. The original motor was pull start and the walk behind had no lights. I made sure that the briggs has an electric start as well as a stator plate. I may have to replace the drive pulleys on the wheels because they are rusted away. I read that Devcon plastic steel works well for pulleys. Also I a, going to mount led lights in the front and one in the back for night mowing and safety . I see other Ransome 48's going for $1200 or $1800. What do you think I should ask? thanks
@@everythingmechanical_yt Nice job and a GREAT idea on the cart spindle, you have a part number & source for it?? I'm always looking for stuff I can use OTHER than what it is designed for
Unless I can find one used I'm gonna build it. Just got a John Deere 7g18 48 belt drive walk behind for a trade on an old rotten camper with potential. It was that or he had an older scag 52 hydro drive with 12hp Kawasaki. Apparently hydro is preferred from what I read. The john Deere was newer and looked a little better shape. Think I made the right choice prob until I use a hydro drive for first time. Oh well I'll just be using for our property and maybe some side jobs.
@@ryanmichalak4596 I’m assuming yours has a peerless transmission, my bobcat has a cvt style speed control so not as fast but yes can mow full speed with it. I would mow with scags and exmarks that had a peerless and a sulky and you could mow in 5th if you wanted. The only thing is it can be a little too fast for mowing at times and the sulky can get a little wobbly

My mower is like 25 + years old. they last a long time, well worth the investment!

Good job 👍
Thanks. I just picked up a Gravely Pro 50 walk behind for $450 and almost threw up at the cost to buy a sulky
That's really nice, looks pretty sturdy
Thank you!

Where can I buy a good used Sulky and bush mower for a reasonable price?
How can I build one if I can’t weld or have access to a welder
Can i build one like attached so it can be a stand on?
You could but swivel wheels may get expensive for it though
So, do you find you mow faster when you are the sulkie? short of fatigue any time savings?
Definitely! Especially if you are mowing all day, it really saves your legs and energy
How fast can you mow? I'm walking in 4th gear. Can you get into 5th?

@Everything Mechanical good to know! I'm gonna try to build one and see how it goes!
Segway mower. :-)
