      Big thanks Raheel for following for so long! Yeah, the shows are better with Gary. He’s a full time train driver so he’s not always free to do filming though. Rest assured though he’s in episode 4 of the 350Z series which should be our next week.

    Thanks for the video - entertaining as always. I know nothing about 350z mechanicals but I have heard that serpentine belts actually last quite well but its the idlers you need to look out for, which is why they are often sold with the belt as a kit. On a related point, I can see you put the adjustment back to the same setting it was on before but, with a new belt, are you sure that provides the correct belt tension ?

    • @RoadandRacetv
      @RoadandRacetv  6 лет назад

      Thanks Rhian. To be absolutely sure the belts are tight enough you can buy a tension checker but i couldn't find one I could afford. I did get a cheap one but it didn't go as high as the spec in the service manual for this car. They appear just as tights as before I removed them. If i hear any squeaks from the belts I'll know to adjust them.

    Love your vids ,I have a question for you ,from what I can see you owned or driven most of the cars I have lusted after ,the 350 z has always been on my list as well as a Boxter or Caymen
    , how do you rate the 350 z against the boxter ,the reason I ask the 350 z s here in oz are cheaper than 2nd hand boxter and probably cheaper to maintain etc ,in one of your vids you said you previously owned a 350 z so I am curious , cheers derek

    I guess England is just as bad as New York when it comes to rust. Do they use a lot of salt in the winter there also? PB Blaster works well on rusted bolts. Let it sit for a few minutes. We just powdercoated everything on my friends Drift e36 M3. Even the chassis used Por 15. Complete gut interior. The cage just went in. Wilwood brakes in also. S52 engine is out, updated the Vanos, updated cooling system. Mishimoto radiator, metal water pump, etc. You would like this car it’s a 1999 cosmos blk coupe 5 Speed U.S. model... not a bad idea to powdercoat all the metal parts. I like the strut brace looks great! What’s wrong with the previous owner? Why didn’t he replace belts? It’s not expensive to do

    • @RoadandRacetv
      @RoadandRacetv  6 лет назад

      Some nice mods there indeed! I think the previous owners either weren't confident enough to service the car themselves or maybe couldn't afford to maintain the car properly.

    Good choice for the first fixes, especially the w brace looked scary rusty... maybe a stupid question, but is this because of salty ocean air?
    I think the car is in the right hands now, you'll fix and service this up to a really great one, I am sure!
    Looking forward already to more and I hope those videos do get more attention than the Clio ones.

    • @dirtyhabitz2888

    great job Neil! please keep those Rays wheels they look great and i think a supercharger because it's quicker/less downtime.... i think so because if you read test drives this car is heavy compared to alot of coupes'.
    I watched your Boxster S vlogs and a lighter car but too expensive to tune... i think anyway 74k is low mileage and shouldn't be to rusty LOL &)) i look forward to your next vlog! (maybe front and rear anti-roll bar bushes...)

    A word of warning with the benefit of experience. UR braces are made in the Far East where harsh winters and salt are unknown. UR braces rust easily. I strongly suggest you apply some form of rust protective finish to you new brace,,,

    • @philthomas9396
      @philthomas9396 6 лет назад

      Depends how long you're intending to keep the car. If it's more than a couple of years, it will deffo rust without further treatment. The paint seems to be applied to bare metal (or even metal that's already got surface rust).

    I’m really really shocked 😮 how can a Nissan rust out with such low mileage? It’s reminds me of the lancias and Alfa’s of the 90s. I have looked at the performance cars that Nissan offers and at every level of entry for your money it seemed you get far better value bhp. However if you were to look underneath an M3 or an Audi or C63 with 70k on the clock they look brand new. Even some of my older models in the past that have had double 70k and more on the clock have had a brake pipe here n there and a bush and even a pair of lamfordas on the BMW’s But never rusty . Is that a common problem with the Nissan then??

    • @RoadandRacetv
      @RoadandRacetv  6 лет назад +1

    I’ve stopped looking at Japanese cars. I’ve had three Hondas and one Mazda. They all rotted very quickly. My mum had a Nissan, it rotted crazy quickly. I just wouldn’t have one again. I can overlook a lot things in a car - rust isn’t one of them. I wouldn’t have made videos about a Nissan, you’re going to have to sell it sometime...
    Conversely, I thought your little Clio was so mint for its age. Seriously fancied one after seeing how well it had held up. Go French cars, I always wanted to have one. Never taken the risk.
