Your video was excellent! I just bought a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and I need to change my alternator. After watching your video, I have the confidence to do it! My jeep has 198, 000 miles and I want to keep her running. Keep making videos!
Thank you sir for this video!! I have a 2010 laredo with 180k and my altanator still good but dont want to take my chances with winter around the corner. I bought the autozone piece myself hope itll last! Thank you for saving me a couple bucks! Keep making these great videos!
Just did this today thanks to your video! My jeep completely died while idling. Put the new one on, had to jump the battery but it keeps sputtering and dying. Should i get a new battery?
Yes depending on the condition of the surrounding parts it might require a decent amount of muscle to release the tensioner pulley. But I promise it will loosen up enough to pull the belt off!
@@Thejdmmuscle thank you, i just had a jeep grand cherokee alternator go out at 145,000 miles , was tryna trouble shoot earlier but i seen smoke coming from da alternator so i kno its for sure da alternator thanks man
Guy doesn't know what he is doing. To get the alternator off of the left fork mount, you DON'T pound with a hammer, you DON'T wiggle the right bolt hole with a ratchet. You PRY the alternator loose with a big screwdriver or pry bar from the left fork mount and it comes loose in two seconds. Also, the field wire connector comes loose easily by pushing on the top to push the red lock back, then push the ctch on the top with the same screw driver and it slides off. Take the field wire off before you pry the alternator out of the left fork mount.
It all depends. I tried to remove the alternator with a pry bar and it was so rusty and stuck that it simply can't be removed. Smacked it 3-4 times with a hammer and was able to take it out easy. It's going to be replaced anyway so no problem hitting it with a hammer.

You’re welcome and I appreciate the kind words. And I love helping people save money. We need more food in the world
I feel so motivated to work on my jeep from RUclips then reality sets in as I struggle with the first step 😂
haha its a real feeling, its most the time I get dressed to go to the garage. But once its done, its always worth it.
You just saved me a ton of money 👍
I am so happy to hear I was able to help someone out!!

I am so happy the video was able to help out. Well if you go to a parts store they can test your battery to confirm if it needs replacing!
I know the belt has to be organized properly but do the grooves have to be aligned? I have a 2005 laredo.
Yes. But the belt is a set size. So putting it on properly will set it in the correct spot
Do I need man strength to pull the tensioner pulley? Do I need a tensioner bar?

Thankyou for the video Sir 👍
No problem, you re welcome
How long did it take you to remove the bolts from the alternator because we are having some trouble right now 😅
Barely any time at all. Your bolts must be seized. Spray some rust remover all over them!
how much miles you got when it went out
