    This video is more on how to get to the belt. changing the belt is not to hard once you get all the surrounding components out of the way.

    Watched this video before I drove 2 hours to change the belt on my teenage son’s Jeep in the Checotah High School (yes, Carrie Underwood) parking lot. It took a little less than 2 hours, but without your video, may have taken all night. Thank you for the video, and thank you saving me a lot of time and money. I owe you big time.

    Excellent video. I used this before tackling the Alternator on my Chrysler 300c Touring, which uses the same engine.

    Very helpful, as I have to put on a new water pump. Any advice on the water pump on the OM642? Can't find anything on this engine on here.

    Is this a late 2008 build? My WK CRD was build June 08, and has a different resonator (air muffler) shaped like a lung (for lack of a better term). CD Engjneering says the "barrel-shaped" resonator is a late 2008 change. The old one is a PITA to remove.

      CAntonius how do you know when the change was from the link to the barrel? I guess the dealership may be able to tell me from the vin. How did he fit his hands through the top? Not much room at all

    Thank you, very nice video. I wanted to replace the fuel hose, from the diesel filter to the high pressure pump. It connot be done with out the removal of the turbo in-let pipe (alloy one).

    Air muffler, what's an air muffler? In my 3.0L diesel it's called a Resonator! Always replace the O-ring (green) when removing the charge pipe and always replace the turbo inlet tube upgraded gasget when the snorkel has been removed for any reason or a profuse oil leak will be the result!

    have a jeep G.C 2008 3.0l diesel 170 000KM.
    sry for my english if it bad...
    my grand cherokke had a problem few monts ago when cold temperture came my motor were starting late. more late then summer time...but itstart at first key.
    i was worry for that because i had also a blew smoke and smels bad.
    first i cange baterry then fuses all 6, then i change relay fuse but in the morning at firt key car was stil late starting.
    i decide to check my injections to a bosch service.
    so they told me all 6 injetions droping. it was sad for me to know but whatever. finaly i change all 6 injectios fuel 2 weeks ago.
    now my car dont even start at first key.
    at first key motor want to start but is dieing. second key it stat preaty fast.
    every morning i tryed differite thing. 2 morning ago i put ignition to on then off on again wait for lights to go then start but it was same dont strt at first key. only second. yesterday i turn ignition to on i was waithing for lights to go off then i was wait ing 15 more seconds then i start. same motor cant run at first key.
    today i tryed differite. i turn ignition on then i wait lights to go off i start motor and i pressed gas pedal and motor start at first key.
    im my contry we dont have good jeep service nd im worry to take my cark in the service again. they dont know. do u have any idea whai i need to do? oil filter is all new nd also diesel filter. nd electric ignition is new too i changed they. ty i really wait your answer
    i ment that hapen only on cold motor in the rest of the day car run perfect.

      +Inf inity. If the car is hard to start but runs good once it is warm is would suspect something is wrong with the glow plug system. If it was running rough and was low on power when it was warm then I might suspect an injector or injector wiring is bad but to have all 6 injectors go bad is very unlikely unless there was a serious failure with the high pressure fuel pump that took out the injectors or there was some kind of contamination in the fuel. The Original glow plug control modules fail quite regularly on these. Is the check engine light on. If it is can you get the fault code #. Then I will have a better idea of what might be going on. It should be a # like P0???.

      hi i don't have check engine on board
      . today i will try if all glows plugs work and also glow plug module every pin., and i will check for the fuel pump.
      but i guess it s all come from injectors....tommorow i will take car for a diagnostic and i will come to tell you what s about.

    It's nice of you to post this video. But your instructions is terrible. Your making people removing things that they don't need. I own an 2008.5 GC diesel. It's takes me 10 mins to replace the drive belt. All you need to do is remove the cover, 2-10mm screw. Then just remove the 2 inverted torx from the plastic part of the inlet. The one blocking the belt next to the pulley. After removing it, you will have just enough clearance to sneak the belt In.
