  • I unbox my new S&W 432-UC revolver to find unsatisfactory evidence of the cylinder front being scratched by the forcing cone…buyer beware. This is my 4th unsatisfactory revolver from S&W in 2024. It will be sent back to S&W for warranty repair. Both Lipsey’s and S&W will be sent a link to this video. I want S&W and Lipsey’s to succeed.

    I just bought a brand new S&W 442 & the cylinder looks like somebody chunked it across a parking lot & painted it black afterwards. It came straight from the factory like that. I sent it back. Their old stuff was literally masterful works of art. They are just cranking stuff out on a cnc assembly line now to make maximum profit.

    Thank you for making this video!
    I've got a new 351C that I purchased for my wife as a lightweight carry. It's been fired twice, and returned for repair twice. The bloody thing won't eject the spent casings.
    I'm going to test fire it again in the next few days, but I think it'll be going back for a third time. I wish S&W would get it right; it's a gun that my wife would actually carry.
    Thank you for letting me know that it's a true problem with S&W and that I didn't just get a lemon. You're video helps me justify a change in my gun purchases going forward.
    It such a shame too. I love S&W J-Frames, and I'd love to have a pair of 432-UCs.

      If you're going to buy a current production S&W, I'd recommend inspecting before you buy. They'd be great little revolvers if S&W was not having QC issues.
      I'd keep sending the 351c back to S&W until they get it right! I have a 432-UC at S&W on its second trip.
      Good luck!

    New sub, thank you for this video!!! For the price they are charging this not not acceptable!!! About 6 months ago I purchased the 6-shot Kimber K6xs. Only has about 130 rounds through it, 90% of which were standard pressure 38 special, only 10% +P's. Was dry firing practicing at home with snap caps, went to eject the snap caps and the whole cylinder let loose and slid down the ejector rod, if not for the grip it would have come completely off. Sent it back to Kimber and they called and said there was a crack in the frame and they will replace it. Quality control I believe for most manufacturers is pretty poor nowadays.

    • @HollyrockFarm
      @HollyrockFarm  2 месяца назад +2

      That is terrible! I hope Kimber took good care of you. I bought my wife a Kimber K6XS for Christmas in 2023. So far, her gun has run great.
      I've got positive comments from people they said they got good S&W UC revolvers. If my first was bad I can chalk that up to an oops. I've now got 3 that are not working right. To me, that says they have a problem. That chances I buy three guns from different stores or GB on the internet and they're all unsatisfactory...seems pretty small unless they have a QC problem.
      Thanks for the sub! My wife is an OB/GYN, we have a little farm, and I was mil/le and like guns. I figure we can share our stuff and try and grow God's kingdom through our experiences. At this point, with any brand, QC is slipping. It’s better or worse by brand, but it is getting worse across the board. Unless you can hold it and check it out in person, you are taking a risk. It’s a gamble to order online and hope for the best. It’s a sad state of affairs, but that is where we are. I picked up a 442 UC and it’s wonderful. I looked it over in the store beforehand.

    Given the price of a new S&W revolver, it makes more sense to find a good, pre-internal lock S&W: better finish, better aesthetics generally, fewer unwanted features, better quality control, and a greater likelihood of holding its value. I recenty purchased a model 13, in excellent condition, for no more than what S&W would now charge for any of its K-frames.

Never had a mechanical problem with any of them, and fit/finish were second only to some older Colt revolvers I own. I am in liquidation mode due to old age and poor health, and whoever winds up with these firearms is going to be very pleased.

    I quit buying s&w and Ruger handguns. I'm definitely a glock fan now. I spent a lot of money on a s&w 686 only to get a substandard handgun that had to go back twice. Same with ruger. They charge top dollar and give you hi point quality.

      I've been a Glock fan since 2004. Trouble is, for me, she (Glock) demands loyalty. I can handle her grip angle. If I can handle her grip angle, I cannot handle the grip angle of any other...
      I retired from my PD and stopped carrying Glock. I either have to be 100% Glock or 0% Glock. If I don't, when I present my pistol to the target, my front sight (or red dot) is either pointed at airplanes or earth worms...
      Glocks are awesome. My CZ P-10C is awesome. There is a world beyond Glock. If you're happy with Glock, just stay there and be happy...nothing wrong with that!

It had a double punched locking bolt pin, scratch on shroud and chewed up front sight post where their assembly guy missed twice with the punch. I sent it in and it just came back (6 weeks later). S&W performance center quality is nowhere near what it used to be. They are leaving sharp edges and burrs, and not spending any time fitting and finishing the firearms.
    I bought a 5'' M&P CORE Performance Center and it came to me with plastic burrs around the trigger stop screw (Really couldnt take the 1 second to knock them off with a file like i had to?), and the barrel came to me "brand new" with a GROOVE so deep into it that it would catch my fingernail on it. When took a further look at the slide the lockup areas of the barrel hood and the very front of the barrel were still VERY sharp and seemed to be what was causing the grooves in the front of the barrel and the rough edge of the top of the barrel hood. I ended up sanding them down a little bit myself and they aren't near as sharp but still not perfect need to be filed a bit but I am not going to go that far before i send it in.
    I was originally going to send it into them, but read online a few other guys having the same exact thing with the barrel and lock up points being sharp and unfinished, and S&W called them "cosmetic marks". One guy sent in his gun and they polished the area where the groove on the barrel was and sent it back to him. Just a total lack of give a shit. Which is a shame because their guns are some of my favorite.

    • @HollyrockFarm
      @HollyrockFarm  2 месяца назад

      So far, they've not given me any problems with completing repairs I've demanded. They replaced my barrel shroud on my first 432-UC due to a blemish from them installing a pin and leaving a burr.
      I'd have to fire back that my gun should be free of cosmetic marks before I give it some due to actual use...
      It stinks to watch and iconic American brand doing poorly...especially at the product their iconic for, their revolvers!
      Nothing should leave the Performance Center without being flawless...alas, it is probably just another assembly line with mostly assemblers and only a few actual craftsman... (That is pure speculation based on them offering their own product line with polymer frame pistols that are still not 100% on quality.)

      I think they're stuck between trying to make a revolver affordable and trying to make them well. I'm sure they were not immune from inflation, the great resignation, and general labor shortages. I've got comments from people that are put off by the price. At the same time, there are people put off by the quality. Then, there are people put off by both.
      S&W is more expensive than Ruger, Charter Arms, and Taurus...but they're not meeting the quality I've seen from Ruger and Taurus. Admittedly, my experience with Ruger and Taurus is back from the mid-2000s. Aside from the stolen Bulldog Special I recovered after a theft, I've never handled a Charter Arms.
      I want the classic lines and feature sets on these little S&W revolvers...I demand they work. I intend on carrying one, the wife carrying one, and giving one to each of my kids. Once they get "right" from the factory, I'm going to have a company/gunsmith do action jobs on them and get them slicked up. I might be spoiled and be spoiling the family...
      The PD bought me an M&P9C in 2006 or 2007...that gun is still great! I preferred it over my Glock 27. Their M&P semi-autos are usually nice guns.

      I’d suggest waiting until you find one up for adoption at your local store. Inspect it and if it is good, you might take the chance. That said, the Ruger LCR has a better trigger out of the box, is cheaper, and available…I just think they’re ugly.

      I've got 4 of them, 3 of the 432-UC and 1 632-UC. 1 of the 432-UC revolvers is back for its third trip. The 632-UC came back today and has passed initial inspection and is pending a range check. I like the guns and will keep sending them back until they're correct. Then, I'm going to have action jobs done. The triggers are gritty.

    One problem S&W has is that they have been hit with several frivolous lawsuits by the surviving members of shooting victims, the ATF and the list goes on. American Outdoors is probably self insured and have taken a hit and ultimately quality suffers.

      Chances of me buying another S&W revolver are slim. If I get another wheel gun, it will be Kimber, Ruger, Colt or Spohr.

      @@HollyrockFarm Every gun manufacturer has issues, unfortunately it happens to all of us who collect at some point, & unfortunately its happened to your S&W's a few times. I just also had my Faxon ar15 barrel RMA'd and they sent out a new barrel immediately right away, & I just installed & broke in the new barrel this weekend. I had only maybe 2k-3k rounds and it started to keyhole. I encourage all gun owners to have a backup for these exact reasons of issues that may arise, Unfortunately I don't have a backup rifle, I wasn't without, just I didn't have my faith in the barrel after it opened up after a few thousand rounds through it. Until we hear of some positive changes, I'm finished with S&W revolvers and reluctant on their other offerings. I bought 5 S&W revolvers in 2024. All of them are unacceptable. 2 of them are still at S&W for warranty repair (parts swapping without fitting or quality control). I'm disgusted with them.
