There are some vehicles in War Thunder that perform so poorly in their intended role that they're often better when used like an entirely different class. The Italian VCC-80/60 is one of them. This vehicle based on the Dardo IFV is intended to be something of a light tank or fire support vehicle, and has a high velocity 60mm cannon with 2s autoloader. The damage on the gun is so low that it is better as an anti-air vehicle than as a light tank, especially since it has proximity-fuzed high explosive ammunition.

If your Gatorade is exhibiting territorial behavior, you should try a few things:
- Sit nearby, and let the Gatorade come to you. Don't approach it;
- Try to avoid looming over it or raising your hand above it, which could be seen as threatening;
- When the Gatorade does come to you, let it smell you. This may take several attempts;
- Try offering it food or treats;
- Eventually, when the Gatorade is willing to let you touch it, try patting it, but mind that its underside may still be guarded and you will need to build additional trust first;
- Blinking slowly when in their presence can be perceived as a sign of trust.
Was that an off-the-cuff joke, or did you have to think about it? Genuine question

bro I hadn't laugh that much in ages xd you made my day
Don't forget to let it sniff the back of your hand first before touching it.

-I'm sorry-
0:26 the problem is that the game uses module hp instead of actual damage models, that's how Ivan can survive a 30mm he on the face
No, no, after years of eating stalinium, Ivan finally has a body that can withstand an apfsds
Had a game today where a German plane dropped an SC2500 on my SU-100P, bomb went off, nothing happened except my whole crew turned orange.
Oh and the IS-2 that was next to me flipped.
I can only imagine the frustration of the bomber.
@@justsomehaatonpassingby4488 He also eats the carcigenous growths over growing on his crew mates bodies
Not a war thunder player but whats the difference between the two models?
@@BrutusAlbion an actual full damage model would simulate almost every part of a vehicle as well as damage dealt to them to a very accurate degree, while an HP damage gives every module a set amount of hit points while every ammo type deals a set or semi-simulated amount hit points.
i know other people have said it but i laughed so hard when "why is my gatorade hissing? i dont think gatorade should hiss" came out of nowhere lol
Obviously it's about to lollipop because the ammo rack got hit
The fact that i read this comment and many others the exact same time Spookston says it made it even better for me lol
"Helicopter damage models man"
Tell me about it. I took the A-10 out for some anti-heli action: 30mm HE (air belts) on one heli, AIM-9L on the other. Neither lost combat effectiveness and I was promptly shot down by a third heli.
Gotta love WT sometimes
Add the 20mm's to the loadout and nothing survives
My brother in Christ, we have F-14 now. Shoot the Kamoviggers cross map with zero chance of retaliation. Enjoy it before they nerf it for killing too many MiGgers. The game fails to register masses of shells which is such pain buttering soft targets for markers, and you have to be one of the special treatment guns to do consistent damage, like the Soviet 23mm or mines. Helicopters get registered as empty space with random black magic plates. Over buff cockpit glass and fighter frontal is still a relic of the old whine about pilot sniping days. Round hits glass, gaijin spalls it into a nerf dart.
You use A-10 guns to kill a heli
I ram the heli with my bomber
We are not the same
XD
I just use a maverick if I have them. Always hilarious when it works
Heli models are weird like whenever I play a heli one 7.62 round will just destroy my engine or rip my tail off but other times I can survive 30 mm’s directly centre mass
Not gonna lie, I laughed my ass off at "why is my Gatorade hissing"
Medium caliber APFSDS is so useless your Gatorade got mad too.
From this video it seems to play a lot like the Begleitpanzer 57; sure it's capable of destroying tanks, and pretty decently if you flank and ambush, but it's a menace as an SPAA when using thermals, HE-VT, and a laser rangefinder.
This is also why it's possibly my favorite vehicle in warthunder. Not only can it do multiple roles exceedingly well, but its also small and fast (and being a light tank it has spotting) so it can get anywhere on the map with ease and hide in the most unusual places. Its just the ultimate multirole imo and I love it, perfect for my play style.
The Begleit is just better than the VCC in every way to be honest, faster firerate, missiles, and still gets access to HE-VT
what annoys me the most with helicopters is their artifical survivability that allows them to literally tank a rhino 155mm he-vt (3m proxy) with getting on fire letting them the time to kill 1-2 tank more while they should be disintegrated. And i won a talisman on the vcc80/60 so i guess i'm gonna play it lol.
I mean planes aren't much better. I've hit them with 37 and 40mm HE and only gotten flaps. Or put main cannons thru the engine cones and getting hit marker not even a crit.
@@jonathanallen3688 yes but i 3m hit a chopper with no armor with a 155mm 11 kg he and it did only crit hit. Gaijin artificially buffed to an unreasonnable level helicopters that makes them literally cheated cheated. Planes on the other hand are easy kills with 60mm he-vt as long as you don't hit behind them.
Hey Spookston, not sure how much you've played the Ratel series in WT but they are terribly slow and have awful mobility. I think it'd be cool if you could maybe talk about it especially because it was known in the SADF for being quite fast in tough terrain
So many wheeled vehicles are like this in war thunder! When in real life they were purpose designed to be extremely fast over rough terrain, yet on many surfaces in wt the vehicles are limited to extremely slow speeds
@@mmmmm54321 ja I hate that it's like that, hopefully it'll be fixed at some point for all the wheeled vehicles
Well tracked vehicles are supposed to have a lot of traction and not slide of hills but instead go up them and look where we are
Ratel 90 is fun due to low br but thats it
(in response to the video) yes a tracked vehicle is going to have better traction over all terrain in general, but here you can clearly see that even with the extreme acceleration the Leclerc boasts. the VBCI can still keep up with and eventually overtake it in sandy terrain.
I love this channel "why is my Gatorade hissing?" best quote
7:00 the wings rip off because planes go a lot faster than helicopters which puts a lot more stress on the components. It’s kinda the same reason early helium dirigibles had such good survivability, you’re just putting holes in the skin which doesn’t rip because the materials are not under that much stress
As opposed to the very slow moving helicopter blades.
@@JoviaI1 shrapnel is much more likely to hit the body of the vehicle than the blades because of surface area
Helicopters tend to take damage and drop like disintegrating rocks irl, so there is that. If the mast gets hit, grab your ass and kiss it, you're a grenade now. Your spirit is the dirigible in this equation.
Is that moddled in game though?
@@lector-dogmatixsicarii1537 yes, but only if an important component is struck severely enough. there’s a lot of dead space in a Huey
As an Italy player, I love the VCC 60/80, any annoying CAS is met with a fireball and while it's slow it can pen enemies from the front, good for hitting the barrels and bullying them. I can usually 2 shot things without aiming for ammo or I take out their gun breach.

“mom can we have otomatic”
“we have otomatic at home”
otomatic at home:
"I love night maps because NVD works perfectly!"- No one ever
Night maps were pretty awesome when Germany was the cancer combo with Russia. It showcased how fucking retard their sweats were when they would get ambushed for not paying attention. Really, the fuckup is the filter. Most night maps should have a BF3 type night filter so you can still see without. Pitch black battles should be double rewarded in sim with better maps and objectives.
The Bell UH-1D is indeed made from titanium. It's probably 5%, maybe 6% of the total mass and mostly in and around the turbine. The rest is 1-3 mm thick aluminum and a lot of cables and wires. Loved them back when I was in the German army. Old but somewhat iconic. We called them "carpet beater" (Teppichklopfer) for the distinguished clapping sound the main rotor makes.
The Q-Ship of tanks.
"You thought I was a Tank, but it was me AA!"
that opening killed me
Now this makes me wish that:
1. Spook's Gatorade didn't explode
2. The HSTV-L got a usable AA shell
Funny how a 60mm HE with 765g tnt equivalent ammo can do more damage than my FUCKING MIM146 with 7,86kg tnt equivalent
Gaijin: pysiks
@3:36 Gaijoobles broke the M60 series for a long while and instead of having the ready rack in the bustle (turret), they instead had it in the hull left of the driver.
Thankfully they finally fixed it.
6:33 I hit a heli in my OBJ 906 twice once and it did zero damage
Something similar happened to me although i was in the heli and got hit by an uptiered KV2 He round and only got slightly damaged, hueys are just indestructible apparently

Just FYI. Night vision from the 80s is not just a "green filter" in real life. However at the year of ca 2000 I saw CV90 vehicle night vision, 100 000 pr cost in real life, that were the size of a human head and was fitted to the driver optics. That was basically day with a green filter. Generations ahead of our infantry night vision.
vehicle optics have very different weight limitations than infantry, they have always been better.
@@marcogenovesi8570 You speaking out of experience or just guessing. You think the Panther 2 night vision was better than our infantry ones? I am pretty sure current gen infantry night vision is pretty good. The video the US Army published about augmented night or thermal vision for infantry being one example.
@@Lobos222 I was talking of equipment built within same era. CV90 is modern and is better than modern infantry night vision.
It is just how optics work, you have a bigger tube you catch more light so it's more sensible. Head mounted has size limits or you harm the neck of soldiers, on a vehicle you don't care.
Of course Panzer 2 or whatever they had in WW2 is hot garbage in comparison, it's 80 years old or something. It's probably Gen1 which is why it looks like green filter, and needs an IR lamp to see anything in the real dark. Older gens of night vision were very green but from Gen2 or Gen3 I think they started going gray or at least not heavy green. And didn't need IR light anymore. Big improvement.
I think you can find videos that compare the different gens of night vision technology that show the difference.
@@Lobos222 If you compare between night vision equipment, the "generation" of the night vision technology makes the most difference, then usually it's just a matter of size.
So a modern infantry nighvision that is Gen2 or better will blow the socks off a Panzer 2 Gen1 vehicle nightvision, but if you are comparing two optics that are both say Gen2, whoever has the biggest optic usually wins, so the vehicle is better.
time to grind italy just because of this thing, it looks actually fun and because of you i have no expactations for it perfoming good
Just use the Otomatic
I really enjoy the videos where you “play”. The informational stuff is fantastic, but uploads like this one are more fun to watch.
VCC is just italian weirdness. ignore. it might decide to change sides twice.
Pressure differential is why your Gatorade hissed. It's perfectly normal.
That, or your flavored sugar water has gained sentience and doesn't want to be disturbed.
The loader thing at 5:54 happened to me once before. I was in my bulldog, and saw a VFW that had it's hull hidden behind a small hill, so I couldn't kill the driver. So I went and killed everyone on top, and when everyone except the gunner was knocked out, I just kept shooting the gunner with my main gun, and 50. cal for 15 seconds. The gunner never died, only stayed red, and the VFW killed me
I was so excited for this vehicle when I grinded it. It has waaaaaay too little ammo and awful post pen damage. Reloading first stage rack takes ages too, it's horrible.
Don't know about you, but my experience with the VCC HVG was fun, and I love the Dardos. The only one that is worthless is the VCC with the 30mm, the RPM is awful and overheats fast as fuck. TANDEM is cool tho, but a 25mm with TOW-2B or a 60mm with a 2 sec reload is way better.
I love you and your content so much more now that you're showing some more personality, keep up the good work!!! You're awesome!
I can verify, the Huey, indeed, is completely made out of titanium
The huey that took all those shots bings to mind one of my most satisfying/unsatisfying shots ever in this game: Nailed a helo at 2.4km with a SABOT, but aimed a little too far down and right, and ONLY clipped his landing skid off.
„I hope that was entertaining to watch.“ Bloody hell yeah! I quit WarThunder ages ago, but I really enjoyed that vid.
This little italian man has some crazy elevation, never thought it would have that much elevation.
The PhlyDaily curse, it's affecting more players!
7:00 The A-129 damage model is honestly so dumb. I have tanked multiple mbt rounds, but the one part that should be redundent (part of the engine, I dont remember) causes the heli crash despite the fact it should be able to be missing one of them and still fly.
Breaking news italian begleit gets an increase of AAA love thanks to spookston
I love that Ultrakill intro reference
6:47 the huey is nearly impossible to kill before making it crash but typically a shot anywhere to it will yellow the engine than it cant evan really fly at all at that point so it will kind of just slowly land and the pilot will have to j out. Be aware of that as they can still fire missiles on the way down unless u killed the gunner but a single hit from any wepon will ussually stop it from returning to his base
I understand your feelings about this. I Must admit, one of my favorite vehicles and guilty pleasure is using the WZ305 as AA with its 57mm HE-VT
There’s nothing more satisfying than high caliber HE-VT rounds. WZ305, G6. The BKAN is the epitome of satisfying AA, it’s so slow to turn and hard to properly aim with, but when you get 155 HE-VT at a 4 second reload, it’s a blast turning airplanes into a fine powder.
I'm glad to know spoopston hydrates himself.
"what're merkavas" well you see...its a coffin
edit: this is the part where i realise it was "alotta merkavas", but point still stands
That apfsds round reminds me of playing British before the French were added
I like that you ask why your Gatorade is hissing in the same tone you read off tank facts
This is the issue the MARS-15 has, except it's also the case with it's HEAT shell too. It needs direct hits on crew to kill them, sometimes won't even ammo rack when the round passes through ammo. It's outright worse than the AMX-10RC, it's so unstable it wobbles for 4-6 seconds after so much as touching a movement key, even in manual to crawl. Meanwhile the Bradley and PTL02 are somehow considered equivalent to it at 8.0? It doesn't even have decent optics, nevermind fucking NVD or a stabalizer. Any 'good' games I've had in it were through pure fucking luck that no one took the flank route when I did. Also, the MARS has no rear deck depression... Despite not having a rear deck. If the turret is backwards, the gun cannot depress beyond -1 degree.
Just use the AMX-10RC, the MARS 15 is outright worse at the same BR. Offroad capability? Lmao what capability. The MARS 15 tops out at 58 while an AMX-10 would be cruising just above 70.
The MARS uses a 90mm which is not considered a medium caliber in the game, only 76mm and below use the medium caliber damage model. So if you think that's bad you can imagine how much worse this 60mm is xD
Your gatorade was hissing because of pressure buildup, relief the bottle of this, and it will coom
That moment when a IFV is more efficient at being an AAA than actual AAA of this BR
I wish that night battles would be available at lower tiers. Would be cool to have t34s and Sherman’s fighting in lower visibility
Maybe make lights useable too for an extra layer of tactic
No

Hissing 'Rade...RIP spookston
The vcc 80/60 needs some love. It gets deleted by IFVs that fire way faster than you and gets one shotted by MBTs, in the meanwhile you shoot a shitty dart that only injures the energy gunner. And the gun elevation sometimes is just not enough when theres planes and helis flying above. HE-VT is nice tho but the ammo count is soo fucking small
hearing that that tank's apfsds doesn't work that just tell's me to not to play Italy. but great job Spookston have a good day
I hope I'm not the only one to realize the 2 crew slots visible at the start of the video
The reason why your Gatorade is hissing is because the air is trying to get out of the bottle and it’s still making that noise
Awesome o war thunder is funky and do a video on the m60a2 :)
That ammunition reminded me of the one in the first iron man movie where he got shot out from the air by a tank
Gotta love this kind of your content just playing :)
TFW top tier IFV's are better SPAA than most SPAA available between 4.0 and 7.7
Ah yes, the Ground RB Paradox. I play Russia? SPAA? What's SPAA? I play USA? Congratulations, there are now 15 Tunguska's staring directly at the air spawn.
Also with the heli damage model I think it is down to their relatively small size and fragility. The are smaller so they get hit with less fragmentation, either due to being at the edge of the range or just small, but they are also super fragile. So you will get 1 or 2 fragments hitting with "just" a critical but most helicopters can't actually stay airborne with an engine below yellow or a single control link down so they end up crashing anyways later.
The funniest thing about the 80/60 is that gaijin forgot to give its composite useless modifiers like the other italian composite (PSO has a 0.97x modifier against chemical lmao) so the cheeks can actually stop NATO 120mm heat-fs
now that he mention it...through my grind from 8.0 to 9.7....i dont see anyone using this vehicle despite them playing Italy
The M300, despite having more pen than other main-caliber APFSDS(eg, earlier UK or USSR)s, has an insignificant mass and hence deals a much less aftereffect.
yeah but it still should be potent.

Honestly the sheer volume of normal tanks that are great at Anti-air is ridiculous. Especially when they're better than the actual SPAA at their BR. Obviously there are some good SPAA, but when you've got tanks that can do both anti-ground and anti-air great you gotta wonder what balance is.

You should do a video on the new premium leopard that they put in the German tree. I have been playing around with it but I honestly don't care for it because of many reasons. However now I just use it in custom battles because it's more of a show tank to me.
