Hey man! I've been watching your videos for a while, and I can say, with Volvo V50 content you are the best. A question: Did you manage to remove the turbo from the top of the engine, or you had to remove it from the bottom, removing the subframe, driveshaft, egr, etc?
Keep up the good work! Greetings from Harghita ;)

Hello, thank you very much! 👏 you need to remove the egr , and clean the top side to have acces . In the end you remove it from under the car but you need to have acces from the top, because there are two screws from the top. And also you have acces from those you can see underneath. It’s not an easy task but not impossible. 😁

Hello Mr. SlavicShop, is it possible to access the turbo actuator and to test if the VGT can operate properly by hand while the turbo is still installed on the car, without removing a lot of parts? And what was the reason you replaced your actuator? I have the same car (also with DPF) and sometimes it is making a lot of white smoke - doesn't matter if the car is cold or hot.
The coolant level stays the same, oil level also (slightly rising because of DPF regens), I recently changed my engine oil for a "thicker" one. (10W-40 instead of 5W-30), also changed fuel filter, replaced EGR valve, replaced DPF etc. It was behaving the same even before I changed those parts. Before I changed DPF there was a lot of visible black smoke (instead of white smoke).
The car has no problem with idling etc., it is starts without any problems or hesitation (even in low temperatures, so glow plugs should also be okay). So I suspect VGT getting stuck could be one of the reasons that could be causing inproper fuel-air ratio causing the smoke. I changed the DPF on the car myself, but I am not sure that I have even seen the turbo actuator (I suppose it should be accessible from the bottom side on the back side of the engine). So that is why I am asking.
The car sometimes also falls into emergency mode (usually when driving up a hill using 100 % of throttle pedal). Even when it is not smoking (a lot). When I restart the car the emergency mode is gone.

hello. 1 . Its possible to see if its working from underneeth the car but its not easy. You can see it moving while accelerating. 2. I have replaced because I had a Bad screw broken one in the actuator and I was afraid that maybe the vacum can come out if it doesnt seal it properly. 3. You can see it but its in a very hard position and you need to take down some things just to see it right. Im not saying that its imposibile to change the acctuator without removing the turbo but its sure a hell of a job. Not sure what causing the white smoke but a very interesting thing i have learned recently and I want to make a video about it. The OIL PIPE FROM TURBO, THE ENGINE SIDE has FILERT. It's a filer inside the screw, very small , and very easy to get dirty, IF THAT FILER IS FULL YOUR TURBO PROBABLY WILL DIE. I have changed 2 turbos untill I have learned that. Because the turbo does't get oil properly.

Great video. I have to question. First one is this engine same for Mondeo mk4 2.0 tdci? I see that this engine is in the peugeout and citroen 2.0 hdi just maybe different layout of components. Second and most important. I have the same problem. Camshaft broken on the same palce as yours. Do the broken parts goes in the sump or stay stucked in oil canal? I thinking that broken parts are to big to pass to sump...

      1. Yes I Think they are the same . Just different layout . Some cables maybe are diferent. 2. The biggest part of the broken pice I found on the oil canal . One small piece of the rocker arm is missing , I could not find it .
My gearbox is from a Ford Mondeo , only different thing was a pice of metal on the top the gearbox.

Curently in my case is that whole camshaft crown which drives pressure pump is broken... I see that one camshaft lobe is very bad schrached. I assume broken valve rocker? But curently i am away from home (job) and search for information to tačke the problem when I come home. Oil canal? Can explain? I always assume that anythink canot past the head ,maybe smal peaces size of oil canal?

@@user-lh4co9zl1t there are two big holes going down the oil sump , one you will see right away next to the end of camshaft from battery side , and one in the opposite side which is hard to see because it’s under the chain . Yes I think you have some trouble with those rocker arms or the broken pice made some problems on vales .

@@user-lh4co9zl1t I placed a wire in that hole and goes down , this way you can clean the canal .
