    Human and polar bear contact is minimal. Which is good because they are the only bear that will purposely hunt humans for food.

    • @ServantofBaal
      @ServantofBaal 8 лет назад +10

      Not true, some others do eat human as well. The other main thing is that even bears who don't intend to eat humans may still attack them, whether out of fear, perceived threat to cubs, or territorial defense

      Polar bears aren't territorial towards other polar bears like other bear species, theyve been known to make good friends with other polar bears actually.

      The Brown Bear of Alaska should take notes ...... those Gigantic Bears are almost the same size of Polar Bears , maybe some big Kodiaks are as big ??..., regardless , the Kodiak Bear is Flat Out Mean and would rather Fight to injury or Worse ...... than to Share.
      There's a video on RUclips of a Very Rare ..Beached Whale , right in the Coastal Brown Bear's territory .....and even though it is a WHALE ...lol....these Massive Gnarly Bears refuse to Share. It's a Violent Fight Fest with Plenty of INJURY ...... instead of realizing that there is plenty to go around. I guess that's why a Brown Bear will chase off any Polar Bear in rights for a meal.?? Wild. Cheers

    • @Norwegian733

      Siberian Tiger *males average at 185 kg* .
      The largest they have found since "The Tiger Project" started in 1992 was 207 kg (440 pounds).
      300 kg Tigers is so rare they have hardly excisted in modern times. But they have documented one case of a Siberian (wild) weighing 318 kg and thats the largest documented wild Tiger ever. Two claims at 384 and 389 kg is rejected by experts as fake stories.
      Largest documented wild Polar Bear was 1002 kg (2400 pounds).
      Its not that unusuall for scientists to find 6- 800 kg Polar Bears in Svalbard as they count and weigh them often. The *male Polar Bear average at 600 kg* in Svalbard, and thats more than 3 times the average Siberian Tiger.
      The animals are 2 different weight classes and not really comparable.

    That's called ADAPTATION they KNOW about global warming and how scarce seals are "to catch" in these days and times. So what used to be off limits they are finding and making ways to survive. If that means sharing a meal, its becoming acceptable more and more by these bears, especially when it's such a huge meal. ADAPTATION in mother nature is how these animals survived before the dawn of man.

      We have a Megastructures on The Qinghai Tibet Railway aka the Qingzang Railway aka the Lhasa Express aka the highest railroad ever. We released that in August. It was an engineering focused doc.
      www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dlfU....be
      Well, it’s still the highest railroad and we found another documentary from 2006 made by Natural History New Zealand about the construction of this man made marvel and decided; you know what? This is such an extraordinary achievement, the focus here is on the audacity of the project, on the importance of Tibet and Lhasa to its people, to Buddhists, and on the attempt to leave wildlife along the way intact as much as possible.
      The footage is breathtaking - we thought it’s worth sharing. Besides, we all need distraction right? And what better distraction than traveling across the Tibet Plateau while gasping for breath because you’re altitude sick? (Kidding. Hope you're all safe at home. Besides, the passenger cars are equipped for high altitude traveling as you'll read if you keep reading)
      Enjoy 😊 and a happy Friday and weekend (despite, in spite all the stuff happening around is)
      10 facts and trivia about the world’s highest railroad
      10. The main section of this rail line is 1142 km long (709 miles), has 10 tunnels, and 675 bridges
      9. The Tibet Plateau Is the planet’s highest plateau with an average 4300 meters altitude (the highest point in Europe is the Mont Blanc at 4310 meters peak) (4300 meters = 14,107 feet)
      8. It was a 50-year-long dream to actually build this railway in one of the most isolated regions. It actually took 40 years planning and five years construction time.
      7. From Lhasa to Xining, and from there railways connect to the rest of China. Nothing like this has ever been done in the railway engineering world
      6. The journey from Lhasa to Beijing takes 40 hours and 53 minutes. Five trains arrive and depart Lhasa station each day.
      5. Lhasa has been the religious and administrative capital of Tibet since the 17th century. Lhasa literally means Place of God. People making pilgrimages to Lhasa, measuring the distance with their bodies. It took/takes some travelers a year to get from their homes to the city. I have no idea if some still travel on foot like that.
      4. The trains are specially built for high elevation environments; the high-altitude passenger carriages with special enriched-oxygen and UV-protection systems. There’s also a doctor on board.
      3. The train line travels through the Tanggula Pass, which, at 5,072 m (16,640 ft) above sea level, is the world's highest point on any railroad ever. Tanggula railway station at over 5000 m (16,627 ft) the highest station. Then there are the highest and longest tunnels. Over 80% of the line runs at over 4000 meters (13,123 ft)
      2. A Chinese Tibetan spokesperson stated there are plans to extend the rail line to Kathmandu which would require tunnelling under Mount Everest. That is supposed to be completed in 2020. Is it happening? I have no idea. We’ll find out and keep you posted.
      1. I know it’s China. I know there’s the Tibet conflict. And not every accomplishment justifies the means. I know. But one can marvel at this particular achievement. I hope it’s brought and brings some good to the people of Tibet; not only for China. I know I’d like to see for myself one day soon.

      nordhorny So The Siberian Tiger Project has publicized new statistics?
      Are you saying the numbers they use today is not correct? Where did you find the new and can you provide a link? Until new numbers, I think I will keep using numbers I actually can see as there are to many claims of this and that without any reliable sources.
      You say 206 kg is incorrect. Where is the proof of that?

    • @Norwegian733
      @Norwegian733 10 лет назад

      nordhorny I ask you to provide evidence of larger wild Siberian Tigers than 206 kg, as 206 kg is the highest they have documented since 1994. You just wrote that was absolutely incorrect. I only have sources (the home site of "TSTP") that says 206 kg as the largest. Where do you read thats not correct?

    • @Norwegian733
      @Norwegian733 10 лет назад +1

      nordhorny There are no other reliable sources provided than the one I gave you. Only claims of such sources.
      Cant see anything changing the fact that 206 kg is the largest wild Siberian Tiger scientists (and others) have been able to document since 1994.

      hmm, why bring this bear a Leopard Seal captured from the South Pole?
      See whether both will fight to the death in the waters, or the bear claws the seal ending its miserable existence

    Why they say two males? Nobody asked the bears, maybe one is an transgenbear or they are even a gay bear couple.
