I felt so bad for that bear, alone and starving. The wilderness is such a harsh mistress. It definitely was an amazing battle to see, poor creature…I hope he is at peace now.

Fuck bears man. Anyone who really knows them understands why our ancestors hunted them down. They're brutal, cruel, and love inflicting pain. They will eat you alive. I saw one tearing down a live moose, ripping chunks of flesh and gobbling them down.

Bears can't catch fish in the open ocean, as the fish will just swim away. They need a river with fish swimming up it to spawn that they can catch.

I lived in Barrow Alaska. I had an acquaintance who was stalked and eaten by a Polar Bear. Polar Bear populations have grown tremendously in the last 50 years, and only slight decline recently. They're magnificent animals, and they're not in any danger of extinction.

You can read studies from Yale that will tell you Polar Bear population has been on the decline for decades and their body mass has been decreasing . . .

There are multiple polar populations around the world. One population doing well provides zero information about the rest of the population.

This video was used for the "save the polar bears" campaign. The bear was too weak to kill any walruses because he was old, not starving, as the video implied.
This is why it’s important for us as humans to both fear and appreciate the violence natures compels in us. Fear hunger, fear death. Appreciate food, appreciate life.
