Agreed. I still shop GW but it's hit or miss on whether an item is reasonably priced. I find great deals at church run thrift shops. They have the best prices and I feel better supporting my own community instead of a big corporation.
Same in Central Texas. I don't know who's on their boards that doesn't understand they can make up the "loss" on lower per item prices by increasing the velocity of sales (decreasing the time spent on the shelf) and moving lots more through the store. I know several people who don't donate to them any more because of their newfound weirdness.
Were cattle, horses Ranch living. Wife shops at the thrift stores in Springfield Missouri Branson. Big local stores. Good prices on Jeans and shirts. Adios 🤠🐴🌄
The flower plates remind me of the old "sandwich" sets. The larger side held your sandwich and the smaller side held a tea cup or glass. My aunt used these almost every day. Her's were usually china. Yours would look so good with a small clear glass on the side. A great snack tray! Good finds today! I could see the cottage teapot in your booth, wish you'd bought it. Having fun, keep it up!
I have to agree with you. In recent months I have far more enjoyed antique malls over thrift stores. You don’t have to filter through junk and even if you don’t find that perfect item, it’s fun going down the memory lane of yesteryear. I also find it so relaxing and would rather pay a little more for someone else to sift through the junk for me.
Omg. My ears perked up when you said Waynesboro. My grandmother grew up there. I haven’t been there since I was a kid. Back in the 90’s. Made me smile a little. I just discovered you about 2 weeks ago and watch your videos non stop. Love them ❤😅
Loved watching you try the thrift stores. That is my passion. Prices have gone up a lot at Goodwills but local thrifts can still unearth some good finds.
Hey Amanda, Cathy here. So glad you posted-was going through withdrawal!! 😃 love the items you found, and I love to see you thrifting! But I do agree. Antique malls are so good now!!
Love this video! Thank you so much for sharing! I love when you talk through pieces because you remind me to look at the tiny details to see just how beautiful something is! I can't find any other RUclips channels that are similar to yours in your personality and the way that you edit... So I find myself just having to rewatch all your old videos until you really send a new one! I love longer videos of yours but I'll take anything that you give!
Your daisy dishes are snack plates. A cup goes on the small daisy. Gorgeous antique salt glazed bowl. People I watch seem to like that 70s avocado green glassware, but so far it hasn't yet made a comeback with my buyers. Maybe this year!
Like you I never considered myself a knick knack person but I have had a booth in central Dallas, TX for a year now and am surprised at how well they sell. I mainly do metal or ceramic pieces but what i have learned is that they make great filler, can be just the right pop of interest once styled, and can be found so inexpensively its been worth it to add to my booth. Totally agree about Goodwill, almost never go, but my local and regional thrifts are great and the church oriented ones are the best. Nothing beats an estate sale though!
It is so fun to thrift shop…especially when you find some cool stuff. I would have overlooked those items. You have a good eye for treasures. Please show us how you would put this all together. 😊 Your displays are always so beautiful.
I stopped Goodwill all together a couple years ago,, long story. I find shopping at the independent thrift stores much more rewarding. Loved this thrift video! Was fun watching you learn about stuff outside your wheelhouse
I enjoyed thrifting with you! It looks like you found lots of great pieces. I especially liked the table. I am a regular thrifter & it never ceases to amaze me what incredible things that I find.
Hi…the flower plates are luncheon plates usually a set of four…the smaller flower(Daisy) usually holds a glass teacup…ie: ladies luncheon when you have your plate on your lap with your drink.
I agree with you about the Goodwill’s falling off, it seems like ALL of the thrift stores I have gone to for the past 5 years have gone straight downhill, I have a few theories, but hopefully we will see a turnaround, if not fingers crossed garage and yard sales won’t be crappy this year!
The reality is that most thrift stores are selling on their best stuff on-line so they are picking it in the back of the house! This hold true particularly with GOODWILL's nation wide!
It's not so much that they've gone downhill as the fact that they are now grabbing all the goodies as they come in and putting them up on eBay. How do I know that? Because my grandson was a manager at a Goodwill store for a while and that is exactly what he did was go through everything as it came in and give it to the guy to post it on eBay
Yes, antique malls you're almost always going to find something and like other booths. When you find cool things in a thift store, it's kinda like treasure. You did good today!
Hi Amanda, I looked in my Collector’s Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware and I believe found the handled bowl you purchased. It’s ‘Apricot with Honeycomb Milk Crock with Bail’. Size is 5 1/4H, 10 1/2 w. Of course with the addition of Ebay and Etsy, prices are no longer commanding these prices, but mint value in 2001 is $175-225. The $65 tag you mentioned is probably about right due to condition. Also the bottom of this crock has a swirl design which the book says appears to be unique to this pattern. I started collecting blue and white stoneware. This resource has been invaluable.
I just found you. I can't believe how pricey your first thrift stores are. You found some pretty pieces. I actually have a couple of the pieces you found. Yay. I go to a lot of yard sales at the end and get a lot of free stuff.
Good job, you got stock for so much cheaper than the antique stores. If they only had 19 on the table i can only imagine the great price they let those chairs go for!
I agree with you 100%. I prefer antique shops or smaller locally owned thrift stores. Our Goodwill mostly only has clothes not much else. Great finds today! The candlestick holders, the blue bowl with handle and the table with wheels are my favorites.
That green vase is a florist vase, free with arrangement.. (& Ugly) The clear glass dishes would make party dishes, beverage on small flower & sandwich or snacks on the larger flower.. Blue Bowl would make a fabulous Planter & crack would not matter on a Planter..
Found your exact wire-handled mixing bowl on Ebay. The seller is asking $117.50. I can't post the link here, but the title on the Ebay listing is "EARLY 20TH C AMERICAN VINT PRIMITIVE BLUE & WHITE YELLOWARE HANDLED CERAMIC BOWL." There's also an exact match to your bowl that sold - with the handle missing - for $125.00 on Etsy. Again, that's the SOLD price, and it was missing its handle. The title on that listing is "RARE Antique Stoneware Milk Bowl, Blue and White."
I live in Harrisonburg and learned about the Stuart’s Draft Antique mall from your video and I found a few treasures. Mission Valley is one of my favorites. Goodwill is really tough to find any deals.
I totally agree with you. I prefer antique malls, but there are so few of them here in MN. Texas is where you find crazy huge antique malls, but now I want to come out East where you are too. ❤😊
I think you gotta do both, antique and thrift! Look at everything you got and if you went into thrift stores more often, you might have scored those chairs!!!
I find I'm only going to Goodwill and savers Tuesdays senior Day. But with goodwill it does help if you get the discount card they offer. I bought 2 years ago for ten dollars I think and have never had to renew it since. I don't know if that's for everywhere or just my area. Also get the text info where they will text you where you can get 50 percent off one item. But my favorite places are the small mom and pop shops.
I'm in central Texas where the thrift stores have lost their minds. They see us booth owners buy cheap goods and profit at resale, so they've quadrupled their prices. Now we can't buy and their low income clients can't afford them either.
I don’t do thrift shops often either anymore. Same reasons lol. It’s barren as heck in the panhandle at the big name thrifts, and often kind of a sad vibe. But I DO hit up the flea market every weekend. I mean, it’s a treasure trove 😭. And yard/estate sales. Also, for mutual inspiration, I’ve got an insta 👉👈🥺 lol! And it’s a bit like the Jolly Roger booth in factory mixed with yours: aesthetically arranged weirdness 😅.
I never find anything at Goodwill...in my area their stock seems to be so low and their prices so high (in comparison to other thrift stores). I don't even bother with them anymore.
Cattle Ranch living. We go through Jeans and shirts Alot. Wife shops in Springfield Missouri Branson. Thrift stores are everywhere. Horses and cattle don't care what you Ware. Costco is much better than Sam's. Adios from the ranch.🙏🇺🇸🐴
I'm going to be in Williamsburg Virginia for the first time next week and I would love to go check out and take and vintage shops can you give me some of your best ones I started making a list by watching your videos and I'm very interested in quite a few but if you have any that I'm missing on my list please let me know thank you I luv ur style I luv ur videos
The green snack vase , has you called it, it is in the form of a grape tree leaf, and the fruit is grapes. Edit: it isn't grapes, sorry! Looked like it in the first clip. It is blueberry's and gorgeous. The fruit bowl is amazing and probably the best find of the haul!!
Victoria Sanchez The reality is that most thrift stores are selling on their best stuff on-line so they are picking it in the back of the house! This hold true particularly with GOODWILL's nation wide! Estate sales have become far more interesting and believe me I for one don't enjoy going through peoples things especially in their homes!
I don’t know … the sort of 50’s looking chair in maroon was not only in good shape (at least on camera) and very cozy mid-century, but also was tonally matched to Pantone’s color of ‘23. It may have been a great find … you didn’t show the price though. Loved your thrifting … you’re a cut above the rest!
Antique malls, Yes please, keep them coming. There are so many fabulous antique malls out there and we love to visit them with you. I can not say the same about the thrift stores, specially the big ones, quite depressing deposit of mostly ugly things. You can make only a certain number of videos, right? I’d rather watch those that show some of those fabulous antique malls around you...just saying...
Personally, I find thrift store videos boring. Most of the time it's wading through trash to find just those 1 or 2 items, and there goes my 20 minutes. Why does everyone have to buy something at Goodwill every visit? Because they feel like they have to leave with something even though it might not be that great of an item. The little wooden handle on that crock is called a bale handle.
I've also all but given up on Goodwill. Their prices now rival TJ Maxx and Marshalls 🤦🏼♀️. Love supporting small business
Agreed. I still shop GW but it's hit or miss on whether an item is reasonably priced. I find great deals at church run thrift shops. They have the best prices and I feel better supporting my own community instead of a big corporation.

Snack trays was what I also thought of when I saw those plates. Very possibly some cups may have been on shelves elsewhere in the store.
Yes! I thought the same. I've also seen these described as hostess plates or hostess sets.
They are little lunch in sets. Little cups should have come with them.
I've realized antique malls really are more calming and I also love how you get to know more about the curator.
Thank you Amanda, for taking us along on your shopping expedition at the thrift stores. You found some great stuff!

Really dig the table on wheels. Very cool.

You did good! I haven’t seen a rolling table like that or a stoneware bowl with a handle. It’s amazing that it’s survived.
Love this video. The thing about thrifting is to go often since there is so much turnover. Those chairs that had already sold were fantastic.
I loved the thrifting video and seeing what you picked up. The table on wheels for $19 is awesome.
It is so fun to thrift shop…especially when you find some cool stuff. I would have overlooked those items. You have a good eye for treasures. Please show us how you would put this all together. 😊 Your displays are always so beautiful.

The flower dishes are hostess trays with the saucer attached (saucer/plate as one)!
I came here to say this! It's missing the glass tea cups that match.
Hi…the flower plates are luncheon plates usually a set of four…the smaller flower(Daisy) usually holds a glass teacup…ie: ladies luncheon when you have your plate on your lap with your drink.
I agree with you. Antique Malls are my jam too!
I agree with you about the Goodwill’s falling off, it seems like ALL of the thrift stores I have gone to for the past 5 years have gone straight downhill, I have a few theories, but hopefully we will see a turnaround, if not fingers crossed garage and yard sales won’t be crappy this year!

The hostess trays were used at weddings, showers, luncheons, etc etc for serving cake/punch, sandwich/coffee (tea or punch).
Thank You for coming back to RUclips videos, Amanda. I love your insight.
Yes, antique malls you're almost always going to find something and like other booths. When you find cool things in a thift store, it's kinda like treasure. You did good today!
Great finds! That rolling island was a super great find!

Great score on that table!! I live for garage sales. Thrift stores lower on my list and I do source at Antique stores and malls but not often.
You could use the glass dishes for fish/shrimp on the large side and a sauce on the small side.
I think those flower dishes are snack sets, missing their cups. They’re pretty, but I wonder if the cups are back at the store!
I had not read all the comments and just said the same thing.
@@lindafrance9192 ha! Great minds!
That was fun, the green footed bowl was beautiful and the rolling two tiered table would make a great bar cart!!
That green vase is a florist vase, free with arrangement.. (& Ugly) The clear glass dishes would make party dishes, beverage on small flower & sandwich or snacks on the larger flower.. Blue Bowl would make a fabulous Planter & crack would not matter on a Planter..
Love the blue crock with the wire handle? Do you ever sell and mail directly? Don’t worry about peoples comments on whether you thrift. Do you!!!
Yeah a thrift store video 🙌🙌
Amanda you got some awesome ideas!!!! Keep up the great videos!!! Love watching ❤😊
Found your exact wire-handled mixing bowl on Ebay. The seller is asking $117.50.

This what i like to your channel!!' Going to somewhere and find nice antiques
Great vlog! ❤ love thrifting! ❤❤❤
The flower plates are luncheon plates…they at one time had a teacup for the smaller area.
The flower dishes are actually a tea luncheon set sold in 4 with flower shaped clear cups
Really great finds . I have yet to find a really good goodwill. The rolling table awesome 👍🏻
Amanda, shop the way you love to shop! Thx for the video 😁
So excited! Moving to the area soon. Need to find the good thrift stores!! 😁
Do more of these! 💕
Hi I don't know if you still have them in your booth but I would love to purchase the class lab beacons if they are still available?
Happy New Year! Great finds!😂
We call them op shops in Australia ( opportunity)
The prices here can be very high so you hit some great bargains 😮 I love the green large bowl 😊
I'm in central Texas where the thrift stores have lost their minds. They see us booth owners buy cheap goods and profit at resale, so they've quadrupled their prices. Now we can't buy and their low income clients can't afford them either.
Is that Marcella vase missing a lid and it is really a ginger jar?
You could get some clear glass cups and make 3 complete hostess sets!
Great pieces!
I don’t do thrift shops often either anymore. Same reasons lol. It’s barren as heck in the panhandle at the big name thrifts, and often kind of a sad vibe. Princess house made reversible holders years ago...clear though. Not art deco.
Maybe the thrift bug has bitten! Love the table on castors, great find.
You got some good finds…I hope they do well for you!

Those amber candle holders will sell for more in a booth.

You are a natural. ☺

I think the three plates you bought are snack plates that a punch cup would be set in the small section.
You are the Middle Man Important Job too!!
I don’t know … the sort of 50’s looking chair in maroon was not only in good shape (at least on camera) and very cozy mid-century, but also was tonally matched to Pantone’s color of ‘23. Your bowl should be listed underblue\white , bail handled stones are bowl. Crack diminishes value, but it is the oldest thing in your haul.
Antique malls, Yes please, keep them coming. There are so many fabulous antique malls out there and we love to visit them with you. When is it your next video? I’m having withdrawals 🙃
I love to shop at Thrift stores but typically that are close to where I will be anyway.
I find 95% of items for my booth at Goodwill or the bins
Goodwill too pricey all donated still
Did you go thifting or thrifting ?!?! Lol😂. Not meant as judgemental. It’s my ocd.
I volunteer at a nonprofit thrift store, with great bargains and helps homeless
