Here I am, a 50 year old man from Sweden, so profoundly moved by this conversation. And deeply touched by Liturgy's music. For me this evening, listening to the interview, listening to HAQQ and cleaning my kitchen has transformed into a almost spiritual experience. I know I am a bit late with this comment and it will for sure drown in together with the other 1044 comment. But I must share my gratitude. Thank you Anthony and Hunter for being authentic and sharing your mutual passion for what you do.

Stellar interview. Hunter has always been fascinating (even polarizing, mainly early in Liturgy's career) and really a phenomenal musician and mind. She really shines when she's being interviewed or chatting with someone she respects.
not into the music or the ideology all that much, but she seems very skilled, conscious and intelligent. really sad to see that fantano has to take damn near preventative measures to not have the interview trolled to shit by the scum of his fanbase, a group which i'm more and more ashamed to be a part of with each incident. people who go out of their way to be transphobic just because it's bursting their bubble too hard are the true freaks of society.

I was way too high for this interview, but will definitely return for a second sober viewing. 😅😅 I will say though, that the album "Renihilation" reshaped my idea of what black metal could and SHOULD be in many regards. An awesome and a very interesting conversation!!
The philosophy and ideology of Hunter and Liturgy sound like a delirium to me, it feels like she's basically trying to explain simple things in an overly complex and pretentious way. BUT. The music, especially HAQQ make me piss my pants in extasy. I love how layered and complex that music is, I love that sort of classical academic music feel. It's amazing how loud but clear the music is. The sound of permanent explosion during some of the parts, the melody, chaotic flute, shifting rhythm. It's legendary.
That’s what going to Columbia University does to a mf
Much closer to the experimental scene than the metal scene, nice
Love the insight into one of my favorite albums of late
Hunter: loves Jesus
Black metal fans *left the chat*
It's pretty cool how she always wants to relate every musical element and technique back to an idea or philosophy that it's supposed to represent. My inclination is just to see the music for what it is and I appreciate Anthony bringing that grounded perspective but then Hunter always explains firstly the idea behind it. It really seems like thats just how she thinks about and approaches music as a whole which I think is inspired.
Yeah that's what we call pretentious
Yeah it doesn't come off as forced or arbitrary. For her that's her artistic process, and she actually explains it really well.
Very fascinating conversation indeed.
Just clicked this video to hit Like. Hunter, you are a unique and inspiring musician. All haters are a boring shadow. Best wishes always.
I'm glad that Hunter is true to herself so I can call her pretentious with the right pronouns now.

@Danny Dircio Given that you keep saying "he" I am gonna venture a guess that you are triggered lmao
@Danny Dircio I don't even like Liturgy. I just think a lot of black metal fans suck too.
@Danny Dircio Well I am pretty sure that you failing to do basic human decency is you being mad. You can try and deflect it back at people but deep down you know that you care way to much about what someone wants to be called that you decided to go out of your way to disrespect it. Sounds pretty chill to me. Ultimately if you dont like the music its fine. You dont have to attack the person or people who like it. There is plenty of black metal in the world.
@Danny Dircio don't worry I'm not mad I just feel sorry for you since you can't seem to show basic human decency. Also seeing as I've seen you responding to multiple comments saying edgy shit you certainly are acting bothered by her lol

Hunter, blink twice if Fantano has you captive.
LMAO
this interview really goes to show how valuable her approach to black metal is. much of the hatred hinges on this thread that to stray from tradition is just inherently bad and cringe and whatever else, and i've never been very big on Liturgy as a project, but just getting a chance to listen to her perspective, there's a lot she offers to the genre at large. it just feels like writing her off at this point is a desperate plea in favor of the status quo
The point is, nobody is accusing Hunter of being innovative, it's just his music being not so good. Why are MGLA making extremely good black metal without necessarily being cringe yet innovating the whole genre? Because they write from the gut and they're talented, they're the type of band that changes everything even if they privately listen to, say, the Backstreet Boys, while it's clear Liturgy is overambitious hipster caca for the most part. That's not to say they don't have even one good moment in their whole discography (they do), it's just it doesn't feel "right" and it comes off as forced and uninspired.
>mgla
>innovating the genre
cope harder please
@@herrsvartvinter1578 They absolutely did, Groza was a fresh listen. They have many pop influences (if you listen to just a little bit of standard pop music you can clearly tell), but also grunge and rock n roll, not your typical black metal tupatupa thing. It's just better arranged, because it's not "planned", i don't know how to explain it.

@Danny Dircio lol you really are responding to everything here Danny. Why don't you try taking a break from the internet for a while?
Danny Dircio It is a 1986 horror novel by American author Stephen King. It was his 22nd book, and his 17th novel written under his own name. The story follows the experiences of seven children as they are terrorized by an evil entity that exploits the fears of its victims to disguise itself while hunting its prey. "It" primarily appears in the form of Pennywise the Dancing Clown to attract its preferred prey of young children.
The novel is told through narratives alternating between two periods and is largely told in the third-person omniscient mode. It deals with themes that eventually became King staples: the power of memory, childhood trauma and its recurrent echoes in adulthood, and overcoming evil through mutual trust and sacrifice.
King has stated that he first conceived the story in 1978, and began writing it in 1981. He finished writing the book in 1985.[2] He also stated that he originally wanted the title character to be a troll like the one in the children's story "Three Billy Goats Gruff", but who inhabited the local sewer system rather than just the area beneath one bridge. He also wanted the story to interweave the stories of children and the adults they later become.
The novel won the British Fantasy Award in 1987, and received nominations for the Locus and World Fantasy Awards that same year.[3] Publishers Weekly listed It as the best-selling hardcover fiction book in the United States in 1986.[4] It has been adapted into a 1990 two-part miniseries directed by Tommy Lee Wallace, a Hindi 1998 television series directed by Glen Baretto & Ankush Mohla, and into a film duology directed by Andy Muschietti; It was released in September 2017 and It Chapter Two was released in September 2019.

she
/SHē/
pronoun
used to refer to a woman, girl, or female animal previously mentioned or easily identified.
If you consult Merriam-Webster’s dictionary and look up the definition of female, of course you’ll find the primary definition of the female sex but right under that as the second definition you can find “having a gender identity that is the opposite of male” which Hunter fits the definition for. Therefore, going by the dictionary definitions, the correct pronouns for Hunter are she. Now, I can’t stop you from calling trans women “it”, free speech exists so you can SAY whatever you want. However, freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequence and the consequence of you calling trans women “it” is that you look like an ignorant asshole and people who have done actual research about sex and gender are going to call you out on your ignorance (rightfully so).
