Naw they love their no criticism allowed game. This would completely turn community upside down, and they’d actually have to start communicating or lose their player base. They’d never admit it
To be fair, the community at large isn't very good at criticism. I tried my best in this video to lead a positive and productive wave of criticism but even in this videos comments session people use aggressive and vulgar language that will get us nowhere. I hope someday the community can have some more members step up and lead positive criticism and I think if that happens we have a chance to get what we want out of it. Sadly as of right now even doing everything I can to avoid it this video will spark a wave of negativity. edit for clarification: I am not trying to take any blame away from the developers, I just think we as a community should work out our own issues before pointing out the issues of the developers.
@@dannywith6ys This is not a phenomenon inherent to PokeMMO; several MMO project communities suffer from this, as they believe their accountability is 0 because they operate the project.
As a player that also participated in this event, I can say that our team came to the same conclusion. Me and a bunch of other guys who were shunting 10+ hours a day, were getting shinies at a rate of 100K per and more, But the people on our team who were playing more casual 3-4 hours a day, were getting shines every other day. I think this is unfair to hide such information from players, especially when executing an event like this, at least be transparent about how things work so we can min-max our strategies on shunting and winning such events. Thank you for addressing this conclusion, we thought that we were just conspiracy theorists. Very disappointing.
That's interesting because during shiny wars I would repeatedly spend like 7 hours shunting, take a break, and then later that day shiny a bit more and get a shiny. This happened about 4 times total then my luck stopped.
From my own personal experience, I believe you are correct that the game temporarily shiny locks you if you play very long sessions. The past 2 weeks I've played 14-18 hour sessions, and did not get a shiny until I took a day off from doing so. For context- My first hunt was 220k, my 2nd hunt was 10k, my 3rd hunt was 49k, my 4th hunt was 39k, and my most recent hunt that I believe I was temporarily locked on was 56k. Keep in mind, I've done 70k eggs in this time as well. If we tally my total encounters on my account, I have around 444,000 total encounters with 5 shinies. This makes my average shiny rate 1/88,800. You'd think after the 1 really long dry streak, and 2 other mini dry streaks, with only 1 under rate shiny, I'd get another under rate pull to even out the statistics. That's what math says. However, I went dry, and didn't break the dry streak until I stopped playing for 14-18 hrs a day for a bit. My own experience + Karoshi's experience + Minish's experience is why I believe your theory has some weight to it. I personally have shared this same theory for some time now. My most recent shiny reaction isn't posted yet, but in the reaction I literally am confused because I thought I was locked due to my excessive playtime as of late. Thanks for logically and professionally explaining yourself and this 'tin foil hat theory'. I hope my own personal experience helps shed some more light on this phenomena Also GGs on wings
@@RocketPokeMMO I was a huge doubter for the longest time, it’s hard to draw a meaningful conclusion from one or even just a few players’ data. But with shiny war we managed to amass a ton of data, it was something we stressed as a team to counter your encounters so we could show the community the effort we had put into the event, and the numbers just didn’t add up. I wanted to delay making this video until all the emotions had been gone through and I almost didn’t make it at all, but when the wings showed up in my account I could only think that it was to make up for a hidden system getting in the way of what was otherwise an amazing event. I think this shiny locking system could be the cause of many player’s conspiracy theories, “donator/shiny charms don’t work”? Well if you were locked 10% of 0 is 0 “New players get shinies more”? Well new players are less likely to dump their heart and soul into the game like some of us will. I don’t think this system is just a problem for people participating in shiny wars or similar events, it can affect all hardcore players, and really needs to be looked into and fixed.
Weird you say this because I got a shiny abra at about 30 k and after about 35k encounters looking for zapdos I stopped. Came back 6 months later, got a shiny kakuna off same route at 42k and zapdos at 43k on the next rotation of it since last playing.
I have over 700k tracked encounters, 3 shinies total. Notably 500k between 1st and 2nd. I always do super long grinds fueled by ADHD, THC, and caffeine. I stream too, some days I go 10-14 hours. Fuck. That sucks
I wouldn’t be surprised if there is additional countermeasures for shiny bot hunting. We know of the countermeasure to shiny lock an account if no additional progress is made while playing the first region of an account and the strict countermeasures for botting in general. Just ashamed they don’t relay this information of course other than the latter. Though I will say it is wild to see people, very often, go 3-5 times over odds but this isn’t something I see a lot in the mainline games even if time wise it takes the same amount on original hardware and if you are motivated enough. We’ll probably never know unfortunately.
ive been following all the comments on the hours played and shinies found vs general statistical odds of these experiences happen. I really dont think there is a mechanic like this. a 30,000 sided dice being rolled can really do crazy things. a roulette table has 37 numbers. sometimes a number doesnt appear for 350 spins....its crazy....but it happens...i really think this is just the way it goes. kiroshi got the first shiny in a team mr safari shiny week; and then got another a few days later...whilst most people didnt get any...so kiroshi was due to be the most unlucky player at some point. its happened...its done

Statistically we got team wide “luck” that is unlikely to be seen for the next decade of shiny wars or more, as well as some more anecdotal evidence such as the fact that we started off fine, but as the war went on and more players realized just how close the result may be, we grinded harder and the shiny well just seemed to dry up, it’s entirely possible that there is no shiny locking system in the game, but with the numbers we have im convinced that at least SOMETHING is going on behind the scenes. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect yours. I hope the developers of the game can speak on this so that no one is left to wonder what might be, and we can just have a conclusive answer one way or the other.
