I think this video should have been titled "What's Killing SWTOR's Influencer Program?" In my opinion a game's community is its players, which of course includes its influencers (as long as they're playing the game). Snave talked about the problems he saw with the game but most everybody else focused on the problems with their relationship with SWTOR's community manager.

I think it's reasonably obvious what's killing SWTOR's Community. Being dripfed an hour of content every 4-10 months where a majority of the focus is on the Cartel Market (where we don't even get original sets anymore, just "inspired by" sets that are just exact 1-to-1 copies of outfits from Relevant Disney+ Shows). I think it really says a lot that the current story we're on (That, mind you, has progressed approximately nowhere since it started) has been going on for 5 years now is astounding, and it doesn't sound like it's coming to a close any time too soon.
That said, it's not all terrible news. The graphical updates, and attempts to port to Mac systems are a good step to show that Broadsword at least has no interest in letting the game die, it's just clear they haven't got a massive Dev Team working behind them, and can only take things at a certain pace the way things are. (Which is still difficult to really believe given the profit SWTOR has to be making EA for them to keep it around)

    • @camerynmaru
      @camerynmaru 14 дней назад +7

They desperately need quarterly story updates. It astounds me that that is the #1 request from the player base, yet seems to be the lowest item on their priority list.

  • @srednaz

SWTOR needs new writers and new "creative" people. Some of the devs are the type of people that are toxic in their personal social media and are overly critical of random issues - but if you are critical to them then YOU are wrong. Thats issue number 1 imo. You've got to get rid of people like that because they want to make the community platform their personal domain where they rule based off their personal biases. The leadership needs to step up and be leaders and make those hard decisions to let these devs go and seek individuals who have passion about swtor and can seperate their personal views from creating great content for gamers.

  • @Voltage256
    @Voltage256 13 дней назад +14

I was a heavy RPer on this game, and it makes me sad to see that the community has gotten so toxic that they practically bullied any remnants of RPers off of the game or into hiding with very few good RP guild being left in the game. Makes me sad to see bc I use to love coming home and hopping on to RP with friends to one day finding out that they all had left the game bc of toxicity towards them for simply being RPers and doing what they found fun.

    • @Sabamonster
      @Sabamonster 14 дней назад +4

@@SWCentral Conversely, there's people who do in-fact ragebait people with the purpose of doing exactly that. The reason "You did this for clicks" is such a prevalent sentiment is because an extremely large percentage of content creators do. For every one legitimate channel there's 29 (I'm being hyperbolic here) that copy videos and slam a title on it that is designed to be polarizing in some fasion. Also, saying that someone doesn't have a community large enough (or the potential for ad revenue) for it to matter is disingenuous, the entire point is to increase that community size; and ragebait is effective at doing that. Even if it weren't - it's a tactic that is applied for that purpose, regardless if it's successful or not.
Personally, I think the actual 'state' of the game is somewhere in between the extremes. I don't think it's dying or 'being killed' at the rate some people are implying it is, nor do I think the game is perfect or beyond reproach. Honestly, the major problem; is that people forgot how to be sensible and they immediately jump from one extreme to the other with no regard to anything in between. It's either perfect, or a dumpster fire. Those are the only two options for a large swathe of society.
I'm not defending the devs here, but the game is Old. Incredibly Old. They aren't going to risk sinking any more money on a game that lost it's popularity a decade ago, then they absolutely have to. It's just not going to happen. People need to curb their expectations.

For community, just host contests with rewards like a costume or a sub.
For content, just add another class, it doesn't matter how impossible it is, find a way and do it.
For story, don't hire writers, too expensive just host a competition, "Write what you wanna see."
By doing these 3 things whilst combining what they've been doing passively and they would guarantee a successful year, but what is ending SWTOR has always been the defeat of the idea of adding something in and every time someone suggests something, they say nope can't do it...
What are they even paid for then?

something that always bugged me with the story campaigns is its inconsistency. For Non force users, half the classes, fighting Revan and the Emperor+ his fam as a smuggler or mandalorian felt out of place af.
For force classes, after beating the emperor, revan, arcann, etc, you should be crazy OP. Story wise. You're essentially the chosen one of the Old Republic. You shouldn't struggle fighting mandalorians, padawans, etc. And people should fear you. Instead you're treated as just a run of the mill jedi/sith that your enemies don't respect.

I didn't like when most new content slowly started to feel more like doing flashpoints also didn't like when we started to be this big person that was going to fix everything all the time, I liked it more with class stories where we were part of some slightly bigger story and play one important part but were not the center piece. I still come by from time to time play a little but I don't have any interest in anything but OG class stories really.

I have no idea if anyone else will ever see this but here we go. I was there day one of the game. I started raiding when Eternity Vault was the only raid in the game. I endured some of the games darkest moments and celebrated their best achievements. I was deeply attached to and addicted to this game for over a decade. And then 7.0 completely broke me and I walked away from the game. Two hours of new story, a trickled out new raid, overly difficult Flashpoints (one thing I've learned in this game is that the PUG community isn't well suited for anything beyond mind numbing easy) and a overly complicated and drawn out new gearing system to redo endgame content that I had been doing for years. I took a look at the new gearing system and just logged off, uninstalled the game, and moved on.
Recently I was thinking about coming back to redo the class stories one more time but hearing about how the dev team has turned into an absolute shit show has got me wanting to go ahead and uninstall again after installing it to redo the story content. SWTOR had the potential to be great and was squandered with inept direction and leadership.

Asking these people about the content creator program is dumb because that has nothing to do with the decline of the game. Even if they worked with everyone and were 100% transparent, the game would still be in a sh!t place because there's no new content and the previous content is becoming antiquated with each year that passes.

I'm honestly shocked to see all those names in the title. I mean, it was quite surprising to see SWCentral kicked out of the creator program back in the day, but nowadays they've kicked literally everyone?
I guess the change to Broadsword is not helping at all if you leave the management be from the same group.
Though I'm not sure how they're planning to go on with no content creators at all. Absolutely refreshing to see the community united though even if that's in opposition to the game's official position. xD
    A little off topic, but
Tbh that's the same thing we saw with the Boeing and McDonnell Douglas merger when the McDonnell Douglas management starrted to nail the coffin of the Boeing company. Which didn't end well.

@@Aviriia hmm. Tried to post a reply but for some reason it sends ok but then disappears. Do you have a comment moderation turn on or something similar? Though I fail to see what might have triggered automatic filters in the comment. Only if it's something like "comments get posted" only after they're approved by the channel owner. Shouldn't be over the character limit since that's a 10 000 character and the comment was less than 2500.
      Upd this posted ok
Upd2. Edited the original comment in below and it's not disappearing so doesn't seem like automatic filtration flagging it. But if try to post it as a reply it disappears. Lol, what.
At that point it's like "there are two opinions: the one the devs share and the wrong one". So yep, a clear confrontation. I can even kinda understand them doing that to content creators even though I don't agree with that because that's not going to immediately hit them in terms of profit. In the long run though that's a totally different story since reducing an amount of media coverage is generally not healthy for a project running on a subscription model. However neglecting the content which should be there KEEPING THE PLAYERS PAYING is absolutely mind-blowing to me. Like we sadly see no financial reports from them but I have a hard time believing selling CM items gets more money than keeping the PvP playerbase happy (and therefore renewing the subscription) which is relatively easy or at least easier than developing story updates which understandably take more money to produce.
Also about banning people on streams - that definitely should result in financial losses since even they are not expecting a banned player if they were subbed to renew that sub. That should be obvious and as such that behavior is absolutely unexplainable.
There's as well the fact that for some reason they are reluctant to admit WHY they're delaying stuff. Players kinda deserve to know. They want to cover it up? What's the point in hiding it from players lol. I can kinda understand not wanting to take that to higher ups in EA but for some reason I doubt those delays aren't explained in their internal communication. Why the silent treatment for players. Not like that information is gonna get lost because for it to get lost you need to at least get the playerbase attention to something else, yet they're not doing even that. I stopped playing about 1.5 year ago and when I decided to go check out what has happened since that about a month ago it took me errr 1 minute to scroll through all the patch notes and news to the point I remember from the time I was playing? Okaaaay.
In conclusion I can't see logic in those actions. I remember they kinda tried to justify player bans on the actions of solely one moderator back in... err whenever the gods master mode discussion was happening after another delay but now it's obvious even to the blind that this course of action is a deliberate company policy. At that point I'm not even sure that they themselves understand what and why they're doing. Or the fact that they have any unity inside the team.
Upd3: tried to reply to myself with the original comment above. It disappeared. I give up, I have no idea what's going on.

They created a huge game with so many options, characters and voice actors, then they could not keep up the same energy. This is the reason. People have seen the class stories, got impressed by them, then see how they are forced to slam together the classes into one outlander or commander or whatever title, then they are unable to create content which fits both a Jedi and Smuggler, Republic soldier and Sith lord. Of course the game will be dying when no resources are provided to the game and the dev team refuse to listen to the players. They do not have the resources to write two different stories for the Empire and Republic. This worked with the whole Imperial fleet refueling thing since you would go to the same planets in order to support the other side, but now with Sa'har, it's a joke. A sith can't turn her to the dark side since that requires more work than just fighting for a different accent of people.

    Some of what I dislike;
    2. Festivals consist of *food* and *gardening* not the dramatic space opera stuff I tuned in for. Even retirees do this in reality instead of in-game.
    3. Crafting and gearing. I get it, systems on systems, the devs seem to have *tried* to cull old systems when introducing new ones, I realise they have to combat accretion, but frankly, both systems are a big old mess. Why do I have to farm an earpiece off a Flashpoint boss? Where is the in-game assistance on this guff? It's a horrible, weird, confusing mess.
    4. Currencies. What do you do with tech fragments? Why is the cap 10000? What's a conquest commendation for? Why is that capped at 2000? Should I upgrade a green thing or wait and see if I find a blue one? What's going on here?
    5. Dyes & Collections. Pay for each dye, over and over? Eugh! Pay to share skins you've bought across characters? Eugh! Players are comparing this to GW2. SWTOR seems restrictive.
    1. Stealth. This is always going to be my #1 issue. If your *whole* game is about stealth then fine, but any other game? Nah. When everybody's alternate combat style is a stealther, you know something's busted. But that's what stealth does to games, it breaks them.

Let me start off first with saying I'm still rooting for this game. There are a lot of ppl in these comments calling others haters and grifters... I see a lot of passionate players who can see the potential this game has and just how badly this game has been managed over YEARS. Some might say it more flavorful than others, but hey, it's a freaking yt comment section. Anways heres a few of my thoughts on the game if anyone cares.
They need to revise and polish their existing FPs, and OPs add more incentives to run them like farmable cosmetics, mounts, pets, etc. (Theres some but few and lackluster at best). The chapter based content of KOTFE was awesome IMO adding replayability with uping the difficulty. There is so much focus on CM items & half-assed "story content" when they game still has so many performance flaws. Yes, they're improving some things here and there, but they have been long overdue and still seem to be turning a blind eye to some things. The individual focused classed story was amazing and hooked so many of us. Nothing has been done with that in how long now? Revamp / make NEW seasonal events. IDK, the list can go on and on, but once again, this is a yt comment section, so what's the point.
I'll end with this... if the Devs would actually listen to the constructive criticism from their playerbase and actually take action to make meaningful fun changes, the game would be in a much better state. Imagine if they would have actually listened 8 years ago and worked on improving the engine and performance and adding meaningful content and continuing the formula that worked for them.
But hey, at least ppl can get their freak on with their romance stories and companions... 😅

One problem with a lot of content creators is that assume that everyone likes, or dislikes, the same things about the game as they do. Listening to this video this is obvious with the ones that spoke, with the exception of Aviriia herself. I have only really followed two content creators for SWTOR so I don't know the full history behind what is happening in this area, the one thing I would point out (my view only) is that I think it's important not to forget that the community that supports the various content creators is only a subset of the actual full game community. For some games (like SWTOR) the content community may indeed be/was higher then other games, but the devs have to consider the pro and cons of spending resources supporting each subset of their community. Having said that, I do agree with some of the things mentioned.

I think the game just got too streamlined, so new players get bored before they finish the story. The shops are now useless, I haven't used one stim in 30 hours across 2 characters because the combat is now super simple, they've removed combat mechanics, they removed trainers which I thought were fun. I used to love leveling up and going to the trainers to see what the new abilities were, and since money was slim, you'd need to decide which one to get. Now they just appear and I don't even notice for a minute, and then it's not as fun to stop and look to decide if you wanna move it or get rid of it. And because of this, many areas have been left completely empty, making the game feel more synthetic and the world boring. Doesn't help that they've also retroactively removed free features an made them paid.

For me, I've played since launch and now more than ever regular players are not acknowledged. Nowhere is that more obvious than the Twitch livestream. Charles and Musco would often comment on funny posts in chat or address comments made but now it all feels like its pre-recorded. CHAT IS IGNORED. In game the story is so slow I have lost all interest. The 8 classes and their companions used to feel unique now you don't really need alts - the new updates are one size fits all. If you look at how they want you to craft new augments it just looks boring as hell and I don't need a second job. I hope things change because I'm not paying roughly €150 per year anymore when we are being drip fed rubbish and when you speak on the forums you get warning emails. Love all you guys and thanks for the video.

I don't know what's going on with SWTOR lately but I noticed improvements (remastered graphics & cutscenes) and I heard that an update to make controllers compatible with the game is in project, it's just a rumor but it's one I want to believe is true so bad.
And Broadsword FINALLY fixed problems I begged Bioware to fix for years, such as blocking obvious spams in chat asking real money in exchange for game credits and getting rid of the toxic ultra competitive players ruining the pvp experience for everybody else.
I'm back in the game and frankly, I enjoy the game as much as I wanted originally and not being insulted for how I play my characters and not getting abandonned during a group mission made me feel at peace.

well, as i suppose for a casual sunday player the changes may be great and all, while for the rest of the community its utter dogshit and bare minimum. I know i know. You may think you are getting shit talked by an elitist, which i dont blame y'all. The thing is, its not the game.. its that it is a star wars game keeps most of the playerbase. The game itself is lacking in every field from combat to content. The changes we are getting are like a pocket change given to a homeless alcoholic. The game is not any near what it should be, the content we getting is so trash i didnt even complete last 3 years story more than once, some i didnt even started. I would love to pay for a proper DLC like we used to get in 1.0/2.0/3.0 irrc.
      Next
the pvp was neglected for years like snave said in his full uncutted version
operations were somewhat good challanging back in the days and were requiering both hands and some brain usage.
Also the game engine itself was outdated and knows for its issues even before the game launch. All those past 6, even 8 years should be spend on changing the game engine itself, instead of trying to reaninate long dead frankenstein
All im trying to say is the improvements and content we are getting is on so low effort level that its just cringe at this point

It sounds to me like the interaction with the community is mostly motivated by fear. It's really silly to me. SWTOR needs to accept that it is moving into the direction of LOTRO. LOTRO is not a huge commercial success like WOW, but then again WOW is awful. SWTOR is a great game, Star Wars is a great franchise and there is NO competition from any other Star Wars MMO. That should give the developers some confidence in what they are doing. Like LOTRO, SWTOR has got a good dedicated group of players, but there needs to be harmony between the developers and the community, otherwise it's over.

The problem is they care about the cartel market more than the story content, they have added some amazing things to the market but the dlcs they made after the Hutt Cartel don't fit the class stories, and the new combat choices they gave everyone was great except for the part that it doesn't change the dialog or story paths lol SWTOR before the dlcs was one of the best MMOs ever made, then they turned it into a cash grab that preyed on the fans.

Same thing with other games. Rainbow Six Siege is a great example. However I have enough self control, unlike apparently many others. If I don’t like the way a game is going, or if I don’t like how the dev team is treating a game, then I stop fucking playing it, simple. The fact of complaining but still playing seems kinda hypocritical to me imo, you playing the game = you are supporting the dev product. If you don’t like it, don’t play it. I never ever had a problem with SWTOR even after broadsword took over, they have always answered me and given me perspective. They have never shut me out and they never failed to communicate or support me as a player but that’s my experience. Noble saying SWTOR is a shell of itself nowadays feels kinda right tbh.. but then again, it still isn’t unfun for me, I do play EU so it’s populated on one server mostly so I never had a problem with activity. Personally im an achievement hunter (100% legacy hunter essentially) so I got a 8 year supply of content regardless. So meh

There's quite a few things that I've liked with decorating that the team is finally putting out. Sadly I think it is too late for me. I am excited to see it but I no longer want to log in. I've liked what they were doing with graphics and updating locations. I was even excited when I heard they were doing stuff with players models. Until they put the fine print that it was only human species for now. Humans have had the most love almost all the hair, eyes and makeup. You'd think they would start with the other groups who need the love and care. From lack of skin colors to eyes, hair and pixelated tattoos.
PVP/GSF feel so forgotten. It shouldn't be so hard to release at least a new map yearly. If you've put out a new area you should have enough areas to choose from to do that.

I am a huge fan of Kotor1/2. So when EA announced there would be an MMO, a Kotor, as they put it, 3 to infinity, I was very excited. Just entered high school at the time, my PC broke, and i remember trying to play both the game and the beta on my shitty laptop that would turn off due to overheating everytime I tried to play more than 2 hours. I got the funny looking black and yellow founder's crystal.
I think SWTOR started to lose its appeal to me at least when challenge was replaced by grind. No longer having to kit out my companions, for example, or companions having selectable roles instead of builds. Where the story got more and more ridiculous. (Already, the idea of a sith empire just waiting to exist was a bit of a stretch, especially given the number of Sith empires that had fallen at this point in the Old republic timeline). Now Vitiate is actually SUPER strong and he could REINCARNATE and he made ANOTHER empire. It just got lost in its own sauce, combined with grind, combined with going free to play and doubling down on cash shops, combined with removing all challenge of the early game. It turned from being a cool adventure I was exploring with my friends to a grindy chore. While SWTOR was never, ever perfect, and it has such a vast list of problems, back in the day, that first character, that first set of levels, and the first experiences were very unforgettable.

Been playing SWTOR since Revan expansion...
As solo-story focused player and ocasional past-time healer progression raid enjoyer - KOTET was all over the place and *something happened* after it... while there is sooooo much lore that could be expanded upon or created, they chose nothingburger of trendchasing the Mandos... While I really love the KOTFE (I love Darin DePauls performance in it) - the rng gearing and then making the higher diff raids irrelevant was really just nail in the coffin. Once Tanabrae story was closed, I think the Story really hit the END. They absolutely failed with Malgus. From his book Decieved and his Ilum arc... to a glorified story "carrot" that goes nowhere... what a shame... many of fan-made written stories we had in our guild were faaaaaaaaaaaar more interesting than what came out officially...
Once the higher difficulties were made obsolete many I knew stopped playing... and once the story direction went out of the window, all regularly left for good.
And yes, I will beat the dead horse - Strongholds should have drops from all over the place but as a reward, not rng clickie handover. They fumbled it sooooooo hard as its totally irrelevant if you are not a whale... which I guess was the point...

I think I'll say a little something although I may not have been here since the getgo and have taken some breaks from this game, I feel I'll add in my two cents.
    My own reasons for leaving:
This game is boring. Blunt and to the point. 6.0 was just running hammer stations non stop to get the best gear, ok fair enough who wants to do that for gear. When the new gear came out in 7.0, the 340 gear, you had to run R-4 Anomaly. Now, for someone that doesn't do any type of operations until this year because it was easy to get gear from that, it doesn't make sense to change it from flashpoints to just this one operation. So basically, I was hard stuck at ilvl 338 but still able to beat out 340 dpsers at times so it wasn't a big deal. I'll add on gatekeeping the gear, even though no one needs max ilvl gear, people still want max ilvl gear and don't want it stuck behind the "hardest" of content.
Another reason..pvp. I started and enjoyed pvp after the surge stat was removed and enjoyed it all the way up until 7.0 when 8 man premades became a thing. I've dealt with tank and healer combos, tank/healer/1 dps combos and they aren't fun and had to avoid at times but now you're telling me: "hey guys, we got rid of ranked because we wanted to bring down toxicity and yadadada" except it made the game more toxic because now ranked players were playing with the casuals and it's caused all hell to break loose with multiple forum posts that I've had a chuckle at just for them to now reduce the size to 4 man premades but still doesn't fix the issue.
So with that being said, there's nothing for me in this game to do at the time that the max ilvl is 340. Coming back after 4 months, I grinded hard, learning operations that have been out since the beginning that I've never done and have had fun getting to 344.
What's killing the Swtor Community? Easy and short answer? The Devs not listening to the community and not enough content for a subscription price. The focus seems to be on the Cartel Market and the RPers who seemingly buy up all the armor for their RPs. I wouldn't mind it if the gear was being kept behind NIM raids because I wouldn't mind learning the harder content. Maybe it would prompt others to learning NIM, join up communities and not just run SM for the gear. Having new augs without any new content besides 1 Lair Boss is pointless. Once the Devs get out of their own way and listen to the community then I can see this game being more than what this limited vision is.

content and the lack thereof. We've been grinding the same raids, same pvp, same stuff for years. I just returned from a 2 year break and enjoyed the story catchup, but I'm just finding myself bored when I join any raid group because it's just the same. I'll probably take another 2 years off once my time runs out on the sub again then come back when there is more story to catchup on.

Cause I was playing survivors and I wished so bad that this could of been the best star wars mmo. Sadly they didn't do that. Sometimes I wonder if companies really want to make money or not

I was thinking of coming back after being gone for almost a decade. Is it worth it to resub for a month? I am mainly a solo pve player.

With little to content updates in months or years yes people are going to leave.

I think the game is just very out dated for modern mmo standards. The combat is archaic and the developers kind of simplify it with every expansion. The story content is pretty good but it seems to be where the bulk of the game's funding goes to. The engine is pretty bad, even by 2011 standards, and certainly by 2024 standards. A lot of the general aesthetic feels outdated such as combat animations, the galaxy feels quite small due to the planets largely having little to do on them aside from quest lines that haven't been touched since 2011, the general gameplay loop a lot of time feels like it is lacking in meaningful substance and is usually a lot of busy work to give a sense of progress. I think the dynamic encounters are a step in the right direction for the game, but I feel as though swtor should tap in to the roleplay side of things more, like SWG did. We have origin stories now instead of "classes" so maybe they could make the nacent period of the game more intricate. Like for example, if you're a Twi'lek you could start on the planet Ry'loth or something to that effect, similar to what Guild Wars 2 does with its races. You go through your own racial story then you're met with a choice to become either a soldier, a mercenary, a smuggler, an imperial agent, or a force wielder (light or dark). They should give you the option to customize your ship, I always thought it was odd that you were always stuck with the same basic ship. I think customization in general could be the saving grace of this game, because right now it's currently lacking in a lot of other areas.

let's be honest without the original class storys the game would be dead xd no new classes, no dungeons or raids usw. the game just feels frozen in time and thats whats wrong

I left swtor around 3.0 because of the lack of raid content that was going to be released (My entire guild left and went to ffxiv, it was 5x NiM teams at the time, most had cleared everything at the time), i recently returned to discover they only really added like 3 raids and a lair boss over that time period, thats 3 raids over a 8/9 year period. While the new raids are a lot more technical than legacy NiMs, they still feel kinda standard compared to ffxiv. Kinda seems like "Dont worry about content, heres a reskin of a reskin of a reskin for 2,000 cartel coins" kinda thing

@ I love the game, I'd argue it's better than getting a KOTOR III, because of how many storylines I get out of it. I love the game and I love that it provides me with 8 amazing storylines

I now think the main problem is general dev incompetence. They overestimate their abilities and then they can't deliver the content in a presentable way. Every recent update that we got either had some additional problems (the lighting update was neat but it permanently broke shadows and apparently they are not even seeing it as an issue since the errors appear in the official videos now) or was plain bad. It ok to make mistakes, but if the team is unable to acknowledge them or improve, then it becomes a problem. And the recent situation with the face update, that should've never happened in the first place, is showing me that they do not learn or try to learn. They think everything is fine hence they dont need to do anything. I also really dislike the corporate talk which became especially prevalent since Broadsword took over. They keep lying or hiding things that they should be honest about (agent losing their voice or cutscenes losing voice acting) since we will find out eventually. But they wait until the moment it turns into a controversy before even addressing it, ironically sabotaging their own effort to prevent controversies.
I have been playing since early access and I will never stop playing this game. But as much as I want to, it gets more and more difficult to make excuses to this style of development, and we are definitely in the dusk times of SWTOR.

I was wondering why I hadn't heard of any of these content creators.
Watching this video, now I know why.
As someone is who's played EVE online for years and still plays, SWTOR is fine, and the dev's are doing what they can with what they have.
Seems like alot of complaining, especially with people who don't know dev cycles, don't know how much money they actually have to budget or anything else.
Acting like this is an excuse is cute for anyone who hadn't developed anything and doesn't know their existing restrictions isn't *valid*. I've even seen other ex devs speak out about this game to say that there hasn't been blunders is an understatement.
When I say SWTOR is *fine* with how MMO are now vs how they are back in, with how MMO culture has changed vs back then is alot from a dev perspective.
Speaking about broken promises as well from a content creator standpoint as well hurts them for sure, but at the end of the day the aren't obligated to do anything.
I've played this game off and on for a while, introduced folks to it as well from a casual perspective, just sounds like alot of content creators mad and instead of shifting their content, just spreading their gripes about older programs and the game direction.

I unsubbed after the debacle of 7.0. I still get on the discord and talk to the friends I made from this game over the years but the fact that the community is being choked out and a lack of a actual expansion tells me that the game might get to around version 8.0 just because it is most likely being worked on before the studio switch, but after they have those small "DLCs" done it will just become a zombie game. Until there is a substantial drop off in money coming in to EA/Broadsword from subs nothing will change. They need to either really improve things or shut it down and let a competent studio make a new Star Wars MMO.

They should stop advancing the story since they have absolutely no ideia how and what to do, and instead focus on 2 new classes, set in the vanilla era, this way they have more freedom to do what they want and we get content

I think the biggest thing is the apathetic attitude the Dev's have towards feedback and criticism. They either silence any criticism or ignore any feedback given at all.
Take class pruning that happened right? Musco claimed that it was to make it easier for new players and that they heard feedback from prospective players that watched the 7.0 cinematic that there was too many abilities. So rather than listening to a majority of their loyal fanbase that didn't want pruning they went ahead and did it anyways.
Take the GTN changes, a lot of players didn't want a lot of the changes the dev's planned. What happened they did it anyways.
Now take the recent graphic modernizations, a decent amount of stuff players don't want. Guess what is going to happen?
The dev's have a track record and its not a good one.
Even when they do listen to feedback its one of those to little to late kind of things right? Like take their recent change to PVP group size back down to 4 from 8. We have been asking for that since 7.2 which was two years ago.
I have made numerous posts on the forums since 7.0 launched voicing my feedback and concerns. A lot of which is shared by a large portion of the community and I can tell you barely any of those problems have been fixed.
What we have gotten is recycled content like seasons, and more emphasis on the Cartel Market which isn't even original anymore and is just copying of whatever Star Wars show is airing.
Steam charts paints a pretty clear picture on how their current Forced positivity and how great the game is doing is paying off.
