    LYRICS
    1. How firm a foundation, ye Saints of the Lord,
    Is laid for your faith in his excellent word!
    What more can he say than to you he hath said,
    Who unto the Savior, who unto the Savior,
    Who unto the Savior for refuge have fled?
    Fear not, I am with thee; oh, be not dismayed,
    For I am thy God and will still give thee aid.
    I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
    Upheld by my righteous, upheld by my righteous,
    Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.
    When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
    The rivers of sorrow shall not thee o’erflow,
    For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
    And sanctify to thee, and sanctify to thee,
    And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.
    When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie,
    My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply.
    The flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
    Thy dross to consume, thy dross to consume,
    Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine.
    The soul that on Jesus hath leaned for repose
    I will not, I cannot, desert to his foes;
    That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
    I’ll never, no never, I’ll never, no never,
    I’ll never, no never, no never forsake!

    I don't think there's any choir in the world that could render this arrangement quite like the BYU Women's Chorus does. What a powerful and wonderful reminder that we have a "Firm Foundation" in Jesus Christ!

    While this is amazingly beautiful, I can tell they have no comprehension of this hymn. The entire first stanza condemns the Mormon religion. Anything added to the Word of God (which was completed with the Apostle John's Revelation) is not of Jesus Christ. Therefore, you're not standing on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ. Please ditch the book of Mormom and just read the Bible.

    • @Nate.packer15
      @Nate.packer15 Год назад

      On the contrary the first stanza aligns beautifully with Latter-Day Saint belief:) we live by and rely on the words, teachings, and promises of the Savior Jesus Christ past and present.
      Also I’m assuming you’re referring to the passage in Revelation 22:18, at first glance one can assume that passage to be in reference to the Bible as a whole. However that cannot to be case seeing as how the Bible as we know it today(a collection of 66 books) was not compiled until centuries after the words John wrote in revelation. Therefore John must be referring to the very book(The Book of Revelation) he was writing then and there, not the whole Bible.
      But, let’s just assume that he is talking about the whole Bible, what then do we do about Deuteronomy 4:2? Does that mean everything written after Deuteronomy is heresy? Of course not.
      If the Old Testament words of Moses were sufficient, then why the subsequent prophecies of Isaiah or of Jeremiah, who follows him? To say nothing of Ezekiel and Daniel, of Joel, Amos, and all the rest. If one revelation to one prophet in one moment of time is sufficient for all time, what justifies these many others?
      Every prophet in every age of time has added scripture and revelation as they have received it from God to those of their predecessors. The same is still true today.
      If the Spirit inspired only the written documents of the first century, does that mean that the same Spirit does not speak today in the church about matters that are of significant concern?
