Despite it being BO1s and some of these decks not being "meta" or super optimized, I think that video is really helpful. Sometimes I get stuck in the mindset of "oh I need this one card so my deck is more optimized and I can win local game nights/tournaments", when the thing that needs optimizing the most is my skill. TLDR: skill issue
I think I could stand a chance against Azul playing this Charizard deck. I play Raging Bolt and I have practiced against Charizard A LOT, so I'd have a fighting chance. However, I am nowhere near as good a player in general as Azul is, so I have plenty to learn from people like him :)
I bought this league deck a couple weeks ago and already bought all the cards to upgrade it, but its surprising how good it is by default. Appreciate the niche extensive content, keep it up!
I’ve been on a roll recently of watching TCG RUclipsrs who do these kinds of videos and out of everyone’s personalities, you are easily the most informative and humble channel yet. Keep posting!!
Honestly this is exactly the type of content I’ve wanted to see, so awesome to see things from the perspective of a pro player at a locals level, that’s where people start and where most of us are at due to work family etc. so seeing Azuls opinion on his games and the deck that anyone could go buy right now is so cool to see. Please please keep making these types of videos! Also would LOVE to see Chip play some locals as well!! Much love guys!
This video somehow got recommended to me on my feed. Appreciate the video of playing TCG. I just got myself this deck recently to start learning to play TCG again, and been playing it a lot on TCG live. I love this deck and hearing your opinions on how to upgrade the deck made me think of what’s next. Will follow your channel for more of this kind of content
I’m super new to Pokemon TCG and just hopped in with charizard so seeing your matches and explanations was extremely insightful! Thank you! I’m going to do some locals soon to gain some experience! :) thanks again!
This was such a fun video and a cool concept! I look forward to seeing you take this deck to more tournaments and upgrade off prizes, see how far it gets before the next league battle deck comes out and you can start again with that!
Really great video idea that I'm sharing out to many friends who are starting to play the tcg and intend to start with the zard deck. Thank you! Also, infinitely jealous of a league holo vessel
I love seeing these challenges! I think it would be cool to see challenges where your given a random star to a deck and you have to use it as the main strat to win
Nice video! I'm starting to play TCG, this is nuts haha but I feel that after a while I will be able to know my cards and not take 30min to read each of them lol
I used this precon in my first casual tournament at my LGS and won all of my matches (close matches, especially the last 2). I loved the deck build out of the box and swapping out Moltress etc in the future for cards like Cleffa and Dusklops should be cheap enough. I love the fact that the deck survives rotation too 😊
I'm teaching an after-school class on the game for elementary school kids, and my advanced students got this battle deck, I am so going to show them this next time one of them cries he has a bad deck 🤭
I bought this deck in November to get into pokemon for the first time. Spent over a decade playing MTG and just got tired of it and don’t play anymore. Week 1 I went 1-3, week 2 I went 2-2, week 3 I went 2-2, and week 4 I went 3-1. I have added a few new cards over time like unfair stamp and lumineon and rotom but it’s mostly the core deck. It’s an awesome product!
So will this be a series where y'all go to more tournaments and see how long it takes to fully upgrade the deck only through tournament winnings or was the upgrades just to show what you would do first? I'm cool with either but would love to see a whole series
As a long time Magic player seeing a precon deck be that close to a competitive deck is wild. Anytime WoTC put out a Challanger deck its almost always either not a meta deck at all or is missing a lot of key pieces that make the deck not function correctly. Despite claiming that the secondary market doesn't exist in regards to their decision making you can see it does when they only include 2 Arclight Pheonix's in the decks namesake "Izzit Pheonix" and a single Shockland replacing much of the mana base with super cheap temples and bounce lands that enter tapped.
Pretty solid deck! Though it seems like a B tier build, it's perfect for next rotation. I would definitely sub a few cards, take out a Charmeleon and two of the Moltres for Cleffa, Iron Bundle, and Fez ex.
Azul is literally one of the few players who can buy a league battle deck and win the tournament. Honestly the charizard league deck is pretty good. And you don’t need much to upgrade the deck as well.
Can you turn this series into a sealed only series? Start with this and upgrade only using a certain budget of sealed product plus what you are able to win
@Tvboy777 You obviously haven't seen thr hundreds of sealed only series that I'm referring to. It's not a "cheapest" or "best" way to build a deck. It's a challenge
It depends on the viability of the theme deck and the skills of the card player itself. Most theme decks are not much useful in standard tournaments especially if you dont have the right knowledge on the deck that you use it.
I enjoy the prize card mechanic. It makes you have to adapt to the game in question. You can’t always rely on some strategies so improvation and deck consistency are keys
Big shoutout to @tablemon who edited this video! Hope you all enjoyed it.
Let us know if you would be interested in seeing this become a series!
yeah for sure it was fun to see!
Can a Pro Pokemon Player Win Worlds with a Theme Deck?
I enjoyed doing this quite a bit! Hope the viewers enjoy!
This video was really cool. S/o Pablo. Mvp 💪
This is very much something i would love to become a series! I love seeing what pro's can do with entry level decks!
Finally got Azul to go to a locals

TLDR: skill issue
I've definitely got the skill issue bug. I do pretty good on the live game. In person is different, though.
If I went to a local and saw my opponent was Azul I might just concede 💀
I think I would have a great time playing against Azul
@@NintendoMasterNo1 My wife says the same, the way he gets hyped when his opponents online pop off.
Fr
I'd give anything for a good bo3 with azul bro. I'd learn so much
I think I could stand a chance against Azul playing this Charizard deck. I play Raging Bolt and I have practiced against Charizard A LOT, so I'd have a fighting chance. However, I am nowhere near as good a player in general as Azul is, so I have plenty to learn from people like him :)
"im decently experienced"
cuts to him winning the NA international
twice
Nice try with the AI video, Azul would never go to a local.
I guess technically it’s not his locals lol
😂
I bought this league deck a couple weeks ago and already bought all the cards to upgrade it, but its surprising how good it is by default. Appreciate the niche extensive content, keep it up!
You guys should do this same series but with build and battle decks
I agree with that deck idea. I love it.
Maybe do it with a build and Battle stadium so you have enough to fill out a 60 card deck
This would be legendary
I’ve been on a roll recently of watching TCG RUclipsrs who do these kinds of videos and out of everyone’s personalities, you are easily the most informative and humble channel yet. Keep posting!!
Bro came to my locals the one time
I missed 😭😭😭
Azul - "im taking this to a local tournament
Me - 😂😂😂😂 Azul at locals... no shot...
Those liltone raids hit differently
@@MrAnon89 majorly
This was awesome, please do more of this! Thoroughly enjoyed hearing your mindset on the strategy and choices of upgrading

Yall are releasing some top tier content, like button smashed
it'd be awesome to see a series of this for not only this deck but some of the new ones they're bound to release in the future.
I’m super new to Pokemon TCG and just hopped in with charizard so seeing your matches and explanations was extremely insightful! Thank you! I’m going to do some locals soon to gain some experience! :) thanks again!

its always so fun to see you guys play it makes me feel smart when i listen the strategies
LOVE this series! Would love to see you keep going to continue upgrading the deck. Or start building towards another meta deck!
Imagine just not knowing who Azul was and finding out after. That would be so fun
Really cool video. More of this please. 😊
Love this channel! You two do an amazing job! 🎉
I love seeing these challenges! I think it would be cool to see challenges where your given a random star to a deck and you have to use it as the main strat to win
Great video! Another video next Spring where you upgrade and take it to a locals in the post rotation format would be epic!
You guys should do a series with this and show us how this could keep upgrading it and make changes as the rotation is coming up
This video is the whole package for new Pokemon players
Nice video! I'm starting to play TCG, this is nuts haha but I feel that after a while I will be able to know my cards and not take 30min to read each of them lol
would love to see you battle from your POV with how you think edited in afterwards! Gives a lot of insight to new players

I'm trying to get into pokemon and have been researching this deck like crazy and im honestly loving it.
This deck looks better than the list I played to Stuttgart, I will bring this for Birmingham!
Would like to see Chip doing this next, can an official commentator do the same as a pro player?
Cool concept, now try doing it with a lower level deck (1 ball instead of 3)
This is going to be a great series!
I'm teaching an after-school class on the game for elementary school kids, and my advanced students got this battle deck, I am so going to show them this next time one of them cries he has a bad deck 🤭
Great video, love this. Congrats on going 4-0.
Great content!! I loved it
Love this channel so much… top tier uploads ❤
As someone who just went to their first few locals, thanks for this
Azul at locals, it must be the best video of the year already !
I bought this deck in November to get into pokemon for the first time. Spent over a decade playing MTG and just got tired of it and don’t play anymore. Oh yeah and I got the duskull/dusclops package
Great video. My favorite so far
hey I used to have that white hoodie it was one of my favorites
Yalls content ideas are fantastic!

Fun video, enjoyed it 😊
Went to my local with a heavily modified charzard, everyone was playing fresh un modded charzard, after christmas its super popular
Got this recently to use as my first proper deck, loving it. Just need to find a place to play others now 😂😅
Upgrading starter decks, my favorite type of tcg video. Can’t wait to see this series unfold 🤘🏼
A 8 year old girl won our locals with the Charizard League deck. She won a Surging Sparks ETB
More videos like this please!!!
Careful Azul, the Mario death sound in the video might cause Nintendo to come after you
Moltres went hard in that local. It's kind of crazy that when you dumb it down to the basics and have limited options, how it still works.
Azul is literally one of the few players who can buy a league battle deck and win the tournament. Honestly the charizard league deck is pretty good. And you don’t need much to upgrade the deck as well.
was fun that his final round in the tournament was up against a meta version of his deck lol
For me, the best part was what you need to upgrade what you bought at the store. With that, you eliminate the guess work
Sorry for not editing this video guys I am very tired and want to drink water
Bro cuts Moltres after it puts in work against Togepi 😢....🤣🤣🤣
Great video 🤘
Should make a little series and keep upgrading the deck with all the credits you earned so we can see the process of the deck upgrades with gameplay
Imagine getting cooked by a league battle deck lmao. Really goes to show the raw skill of Azul
You should make it a sealed series where you start with the zard theme deck and open sealed until you make a deck event ready 🤯
such an awesome product
Can you turn this series into a sealed only series? Start with this and upgrade only using a certain budget of sealed product plus what you are able to win
If you're trying to win and don't have an infinite budget, don't build decks from sealed product, buy singles and precons.
@Tvboy777 You obviously haven't seen thr hundreds of sealed only series that I'm referring to. It's not a "cheapest" or "best" way to build a deck. It's a challenge
Should I buy this deck I’m relatively new!
Yes. Best entry level product if you want to get into competitive
Yes!
yes
Absolutely!
Well, the video answer your question
Moltres putting in work!
Yeah
Idk if this azul guy is the target audience for this league battle box but maybe im wrong
Fun video!!!!
Azul is lying to us, he legit says he doesn't do locals and look at him here
Only if he's getting paid in ad revenue.
The answer is yes, yes he can
great vid
gardevoir next?
Nah we beating Azul playing moltres lol, paid actors
It depends on the viability of the theme deck and the skills of the card player itself. Most theme decks are not much useful in standard tournaments especially if you dont have the right knowledge on the deck that you use it.
20$ in credit for 4-0 is insane
this proves skill truimphs in the tcg
So Azul got 2nd right? 🎉
How did this guy go 4-0?!?
that was goated
Never liked the prize cards as "life points". What if the card i need its there? Doesn't make sense
I enjoy the prize card mechanic. It makes you have to adapt to the game in question. You can’t always rely on some strategies so improvation and deck consistency are keys
Play multiples to swing the odds in your favor
That’s why playing one ofs is a gamble
does anyone tell u ...u r buff?
insane
another video!
3 moltres 😂
Moltres mvp 🪽🔥
does it mean Is this the optimal zard?
Nah
i just clicked on the video to comment No, have a good day all
did you tell people you were using a pre con?
Clearly this proves Pokemon TCG is 60/40 skill/deck or more
If you don't even know the proper numbers, it doesn't prove anything lol
Lmao this is hilarious, skill matters much more than deck
personally not a fan of the stock sounds in the editing like the wooooooow and the other random memes
