  • @The_Assassin_of_The_Gray
    @The_Assassin_of_The_Gray 2 года назад +7

    This looks genuinely promising, but you need to consider a *_SIXTY_* round magazine for production
    AR users - especially *_Combat Veterans_* - think in "30's" when it comes to ammunition, a conspicuously oddball number of 53 rounds leaves 7 left over and that makes both the mental math and ammunition accountability a logistical pain
    Likely it will leave someone assuming they have more ammo available than they have, embarrassing in a 2/3-gun match, but potentially lethal in a defensive situation
    This appears very clever in its "Outside the Box" thinking, being that it includes an adaptor for existing thirty round magazines and it has my interest, but you must consider a magazine capacity with an even sixty rounds

    • @jintsuubest9331
      @jintsuubest9331 10 месяцев назад +1

      I will go as far as suggesting a 50 round mag that's even shorter. This whole "think in 30" is just a training issue.
      There are combat vet being superstitious and only load 28/29 for the mag they carry.
      Beside, pmag with window is also a very real thing.
      Point being we already move away from the standard 30 round, there is no reason to get stuck in the box.
      If it is really that big of an issue, just make a bunch of 30 rounder version and issue that to the most of the troops. Then give the 50 rounders to the "saw" gunner.

    Because would honestly love to see an MDR version with quadstack capability for both 7.62 and 5.56 ammo 5-10 years down the line to keep its multi caliber capability.

      I don’t see the issue with the 53 round mag? If you want 60 just get a drum

  • @Paelorian
    @Paelorian Год назад +2

    Do not skeletonize the magwell. Sure, dirt won't enter while the magazine is in. But it can collect on the edge of those cutouts. Then you pull out the magazine, the mud _slides inside the magwell,_ and is pushed up _into the action,_ causing major malfunctions. If you're milling it out, why mill all the way through? Just thin out the metal, but leave some to keep mud out. Otherwise users would end up taping around the magwell or something like that.
    The worse cutouts are at the top of the magwell. Looks like mud, dust, and pebbles are going to collect right at the top of the magazine, and enter the inside of the magwell when the magazine is removed.
    This pre-production sample allows foreign matter to enter the inside of the magwell from the sides and above because of those cutouts. There's a reason we generally don't see magwell cutouts like this on serious rifles. I'm all for milling away more metal, and I love lightweight receivers that do so. I'm in favor of removing unnecessary material over a rifle. If it's not contributing strength or any other significant benefit, it's dead weight and the weapon is better without it. But cutting all the way through so that dirt can more easily work itself into the action is compromising reliability. Don't mill holes. Just mill the metal thin where strength is unnecessary. Then most of the benefit is achieved without compromising reliability.
