Iam Ugandan by birth now in Maryland-USA but I find myself playing all these 90s and 80s songs in my car because it is the music that raised us..I remember as kids in our village sitting to watch our black and white tiny TV with a show called "Music Africa" by Mike Makamazibu and this song got locked in my brain because I didn't know the title. One day when I typed Yvone Chaka Chaka's umqomboti in my RUclips music playlist, this song was the second on play..As I talk I am watching the video on RUclips in my living room😅.
My life is all about old school music😊
I am from Morocco. Despite the distance from South Africa, music remains the best expression of language, belonging and the closeness of peoples. This song has a history for me when I was fifteen years old. It ranked first for several weeks in the top10 for the best song. My greetings to every African who loves peace.

Who is still listening to my late father's favourite? It reminds me when my father used to come from SA to Namibia 🇳🇦 land of the brave and when he jumps out of his truck he would begin to dance to that music playing in the truck and distribute braai packs to the whole village houses. They would come old and young gather just to dance to His traditional music, what a tremendous experience I have ever had in 1996, truly there is life in happiness whether poor or rich we all need happiness one way or another. And his legancy still prevails through me. This is my style and his song always when I go home.

Gallo Records robbed African artists at every turn, including Mahlathini who died penniless after a long illness. There needs to be a reckoning where Gallo repays all that it has stolen and withheld from these icons. I hope any money made from this video goes straight into the pockets of the artists and/or their surviving relatives. Gallo owes hundreds of artists from decades of theft.
