#Transformers #Legacy #Needlenose
If memory serves, the most development Needlenose recieved to date was in IDW. In that continuity, he was Tracks' brother; they were both wealthy, upper-class bots before the war, though Needlenose was far more socially conscious. A disagreement over whether the brothers' shared business should be made available to all or remain exclusive to the uppermost members of society led Needlenose to throw his lot in with the Decepticons. (If I tried to elaborate any further, this wall of text would turn into an essay.)
Also Needlenose is kinda one of the first queer Transformers,he had a crush on Horri-Bull in the comics and blamed the Autobots for his death afterwards. He was a member of the Mayhem Attack Squad in Marvel's comic continuity.
Yep, IDW's focus on him and his story arc were really the only reason I bought this figure. Very happy to have him. (But I do think he's a pretty sweet toy now that I have one).
Oh my god so bro is a socialist and an f15? That’s honestly based and more American than anything our politicians have done in decades
Have watched this channel for years, and i think that was the best alt mode spin to date.
I think so lol
Needlenose looks to be one of the better transformers to introduce people and friends who are new to owning a Transformers figure to, Very simple and easy transformation mechanic.
The tail fin coming off is a reference to the g1 figure, it's a part that everyone lost. The fin is super expensive to buy on its own as well.
I got the G1 Needlenose as a kid as a gift (I asked for a Targetmaster, at the time I regretted not being more specific).
However, it turned out to be one of my fav 'cons!
This is honestly one of the best decepticon deluxes I’ve ever bought.
4:49 Emgo giving us some adult lessons and harsh reality for the future lol
His haribo Targetmasters will never cease to be funny to me. They're gummy!
I am liking those target masters a lot now!
Yep
Just got and opened Crankcase, and I’m in love. I’m excited for Needlenose as much as I was excited for Crankcase, and hopefully will love him as much as well
I think he looks awesome, and it’s so crazy that this is his first release since his G1 toy. I fell in love with his design when I saw it in the IDW comics and have been waiting for him to get a new toy ever since.
What about the figure of him released during Combiner Wars?
@@ZachDy-xg9it That was a TFCC exclusive
The OG needlenose was my very first transformer when I was about 4-5 years old… never thought I’d see it remade … this is insane
I miss my G1 Needlenose.
If I remember right this isn't the first time they've redone needle nose, but this is the first time that he isn't a repaint
@@consof8724 the only other needlenose remake I’m aware of is a convention exclusive, repaint slight remold of another figure (forgot the name :()
@@Laerid yeah, that's the one I was talking about. I just didn't remember whether or not it was a convention exclusive or not. If I remember right it was a repaint of fireflight from combiner wars
Dude the way they hid the arms and legs are awesome man looks so good in both modes.
HE ESCAPED FROM MIAMI
The best needlenose possible without going to voyager I think. I'm pretty excited to have another double target master finally
i just want those two redecoed for Spinisters proper guns. =[
those voids are necessary at this price point just to meet the tooling budget, I'm sure. and if it bothers someone that much I'm sure there's already an upgrade kit available, if not several.
Glad to see the jet seems to have a 3mm port for a flight stand. Interesting that they put it right under the head and it comes out during transformation.
Needlenose in the Matrix Quest 4EVA! The cartoon wasn't part of my childhood, but the Marvel comic definitely was. Heck, it was darn near scripture for me! This Needlenose is a must-buy for me - and dare I say all Marvel Transformers fanboys. Another cool review! Thanks for making it.
I absolutely LOVE this figure, i can't recall the last time I was "excited" about a mass retail transformer. Hopefully he's easy to find. I wanted to grab Hot Rod, but he still hasn't shown up locally.
Look at this awesome headsculpt, those beautiful punchy colours. That articulation!
Glad I have him pre-ordered at tfsource, I always liked Needlenose's design. He's one of the characters I had the G1 toy of and dearly regret not still having. Never saw him in the cartoon but he was in a few issues of the Marvel comic (along with Spinister). I did dig the IDW version where he was Tracks' brother as well.
Budget is when your department needs a snowplow truck and the company issues you a shovel.
Emgo's mini-lesson on budget was super informative, 10 out of 10
This guy brought back memories of my brother having this guy when we were kids. I didn't remember having him until I had this guy in hand and the memories all flooded back. My bro passed away in 2009 so it was a very welcome memory. Never had a transformer bring such nostalgia before.
I love the new style of intro graphics to the toy reviews. If they had taken away zig zag's gun, he might have articulation ha ha. That spin was a record ha ha. The closed eye hole that extends below the head is pretty obvious when you flip the head down. Did they have a plan for a use of that piece?
I loved my original Needlenose i got back in the day, im definitely getting this one.
For a robot that folds up under a jet plane, it's probably the best example they've ever done. They actually tried to streamline it a bit. No excuse for the hollow forearms though.
they had to include to targetmasters with the figure the had to hollow out something to stay in budget
So glad we've finally got the three Decepticon Double Targetmasters!
It's my boy and his boys
Don't know this guy at all, but he looks pretty cool. I love how it appears that he's wearing a Knight's "helm?" helmet. The ridge over his eyes, looks like the visor that comes down for eye protection. Now watch, since I paused and commented, before it's over I'll look like a DA and that'll be a feature of the toy. I got 5 on it lol
This guy might be a chug scale figure, with limited engineering, but his color pallet is MP all the way. Would love to see these creative color combos represented in the MP scale. The way Fanstoys Thomas uses the purple and gray is just a small taste of what an MP figure can look like with those popping color combos.
I can't wait for this figure! Personally, the lack of articulation on the Target Masters is fine by me. The original ones were bricks too
Neednose was a G1 mini-Targetmaster that came out in 1988 after the G1 cartoon was cancelled, the main gimmick for the toyline was that mini-Targetmasters came with 2 Nebulan partners instead of 1 and they can combine into a super gun that can be used in both the vehicle & robot modes.
The Autobots mini-Targetmasters include Landfill, Quickmix & Scoop. The Decepticons had Needlenose, Quake & Spinister.
I called them double target masters.
Great review as always Emgo.
Say it louder about the budget... wait nevermind... they're all deaf. Even if the figures could be perfect, there will be someone complaining.
It took them basically five years from the first Fan Vote Poll back in the Siege days, but we finally got Needlenose and I really want to pick him up to add another Decepticon flier to the collection.
I remember owning the G1 figure back in the day and this gives off all the right nostalgia feels!
I own the original G1 Nedlenose and this looks GREAT! The targetmasters from this one look exactly like the old ones (same mold maybe?)
Can we see a tour of the room in wich you keep your collection?
WOW!!! That was a great spin!
Needlenose
Yet his nose isn't as thin as a needle
Ah, Meg's answer to everything.
You really can't argue with Megatron's logic.
Really can’t
I found Shadowstrip and I now have!
Oh I love this version..it s bit of improvement from original! love this one to add it to
my new headmaster: Misfire, slugslinger and happy triger...Nice 5*
"What do you want needle nose? How can I pull the trigger, if I have no hands?"
Yoo i got combiner wars flash backs with this one
Needlenose will be the last to complete the 1988 Decepticon Targetmasters alongside Siege Spinister and Titans Return Quake. Now we need to complete the Autobot's side, we got Scoop from Thrilling 30 so far
This is called Transformers day-care that's why he Carry's them with him on his wings.
"You could say his target masters are his wing men" budum cchhhhhh................ i'll see myself to the nearest cliff
Needlenose
doesn't have a nose
I think that compared to a lot of modern transformers it's still really good. Jetformers had always had a problem with packpacks and arms sticking out from the bottom of the jet. This one has a massive backpack, but the jet mode was handled well in my opinion. Of course, theres a whole robot stuffed underneathe it, but it compresses nicelly to the point where it looks natural from the side. Definetelly will be picking that one up!
Grabbed this guy on discount recently and really enjoying him, love the coloring and the transformation is extremely reminiscent of his G1 version. Obviously the Targetmasters are a bit of a downgrade from the WFC Battlemasters, but Needlenose is already a good-sized Deluxe with two guns/minions; the alternative would be bumping him up to Voyager for the sake of giving two figures who'll spend 95% of their time in gun mode a bit of extra articulation. Personally I'm good with what we got.
Needlenose deserves to be on the big screen
Bite your tongue! With the track record of the modern movies, they'd probably give the name to someone who turns into a boat or a motorcycle, and at best his robot mode woiuld be a TLK armor suit, not our boxy boi here. Completely forget about his target masters, or being one of the few not-a-total-psycho Decepticons.
@@dialNforNinja what are you saying?
I'm hoping a third party does a upgrade kit with better Target Masters... Because if I wanted the same bricks that I had back in the late '80s on 2023 I go see if I can find the original figure.
Thank you, seriously, your fun reviews are funny as hell
Takara could make a fortune off of upgrade kits
14:55 Appropriate Megatron response
He has one of the more offbeat profiles of a transformer of the time. A custom chip designer that got a review so bad he became a decepticon.
I'm not going to try and make excuses for what is very much a hefty chunk of kibble. But his head looking like a Knights helmet makes the plane bits feel reminiscent of a cape. The primary Grey color thus becomes armor like. Didint care for the look until I realized that and know I really want him.
I'm surprised you didn't compare him next to Spinister since in G1 they were both part of the second wave of smaller targetmasters and we did just get a good Spinister remake just a year or two ago. XD
He’s Tracks’ brother in the comic. This might mean I get the bag Tracks toy
Can't go anywhere without your wing men lol
I like his Targetmasters a lot and wish we could get similar ones for Quake and Spinister somehow.
Spinister did get his Targetmasters in Siege but one of themselves hard to get.
I like the new inteo
he doesn't really turn into the jet so much as get into a yoga pose and manifest a jet lol
I never paid much attention to Needlenose until IDW focused on him in their first continuity. He had a pretty sweet story arc.
With the news out of the NFL it's nice to have a change of pace. Thank you.
Yeah, people have been dropping like flies.
This is one of my favorite deluxe figures so far!
Needle nose was a very obscure character who rebelled against the autobots in I think more than meets the eye??? Correct me if I'm wrong
I just got mine today, and my one big issue is having to assemble the Targetmasters' weapons. Not much of an issue for Sunbeam, but Zigzag is made of the same purple plastic and is fully painted, and the paint layers threw off the tolerances for the joint, making it super-rough to clip on and rubbing paint off in the process. And he really is fully painted - the only (pre-rubbed) exposed plastic is on the inside of his 5mm post at his feet. No spray-over like Kingdom Cyclonus' gun.
Is it me or does Needle Nose remind me of Dark Wing/Dred Wing? Seems similar from one of the Japanese transformers series
Needlenose was some of the first transformers I ever owned in the 80s. Of course he is now missing his helmet.
I wish he was voyager scale, it would fix so much to have that slightly larger budget.
WHOA!!!!
Loved the ending skit
Actually, Needlenose's alt mode is pretty much in scale with ER Starscream's.
The F-16 XL is quite a bit smaller than an F-15.
I’ll take you word for it 👍🏼
Needle nose looks good
looks good in his robotmode, and the jetmode is quite reminiscent of the vintage one.
He can use the Shin Kikoho
I need Cranckcase
Love this video emgo great as always.
You missed a joke when attaching his target masters to his wings. You could have said they were his wing men.
I don’t miss it at all lol
Going by what DNA has been doing lately, I foresee the upgrade for this coming with the following:
A new head as sometimes his head is different colors in some comics.
New hands. For holding the next thing.
Dreadwind's wing. Because there was this one time in the comics where he ripped off Dreadwind's wing and held it in his hands.
Nothing else, that's it.
I miss Perfect Effect.
Megaprimescream.
Ngl, I do like the double-Targetmasters having their Targetmasters packed in but other Targetmaster characters having their Targetmasters as a master class figure would be prefered IMO. I mean Needlenose and Scoop go together in style and it actually looks better than Pinpoint with Pointblank. Just I think so we don't have only 3 gun molds, that Micromasters as one off molds should work as a sort of tie in for Minicons/Microns and Micromasters alike which can be a rather diverse cast depending on paint and monetary budgets plus it would also fit with the Core Class so they can actually have accessories outside of their own because they all use 3mm ports which I still find it stupid Rattrap is a Cors Class in that regard as I want to give him a big old gun
Need that for my Mayhem Attack Squad
i just found him today his articulation is super fun
Excited to FINALLY get this guy after all the years of teasing.
😊Definitely gonna invest in a filler kit for the arms and upper thighs.
Hollow spaces help keep the figure cost down, if you want them to increase the budget then the msrp has to go up. I'm fine with the hollow spots personally.
I think those target masters may well be the same molds from Scoop back in 2013/14
Putting money on him not showing up in any of my local stores.
My Walmarts and Targets where I live been bone dry on any new releases, we still haven't gotten all of wave 2 because the shelves are full of wave 1 and exclusive figs
@@antiseize11 Not joking, my local Walmart literally just got in the Studio Series '86 Junkheap. That's been out since around May of last year.
Needlenose looks great. Anyone that has issues with him should go look at the G1 version. The updated transformation is nice. Robot and alt modes look exactly like the G1 toy with better articulation and sculpt. Needlenose completes the "junior' or double targetmasters that we had in the 80's, Quake, Spinister and Needlenose. What's sad is that Quake and Spinister never got their targetmaster buddies.
PS: The 80's version of Needlenose the target masters had the EXACT same articulation. So why any fuss over that?
The more I look at him, the more I want to get him
And if I'll get him, that's what I'm going to do with his removable thin:
Detach it for the robot mode, lift his cockpit up and plug the thin on the side of his left hand
As for his Targetmaster buddies, I will use the purple one (I don't know who is who, so I'm calling them by their base colour) as a gun that deploys under the thin in both modes and the black one as an extra jet booster which will deploy if necesarry anf will also be used as a secondary weapon in the robot mode
Please correct me if I've written something wrong
Where do yo get your transformers
Happy new year!
How is it he suffered less than Pointblank in the line despite having two Targetmasters?
Looks great. I would have liked for the target masters to at least have shoulder articulation. Look at the two that came with Generations Scoop as an example of keeping it in budget
That was 8 years ago. Different time, different economy.
Woah 😂😂💀great video once again 🙏love ya Emgo!
Why does needle nose have no nose this breaks my brain
I do wonder how the scale holds up for F-16 to F-15 in comparison to the VOY seekers - it looks roughly correct to me as is, but I don't know the exact dimensions of either plane off the top of my head, nor can I remember if the F-16XL was the same fore and aft as the standard model.
More of a chunky jet than robot under a jet - his chest plate is right there but looks like some kind of jump-jet outlets more than robot parts, and otherwise everything is pretty well camouflaged. If it was an original design instead of a G1 homage they could easily have shifted the wings onto the legs and made the cockpit/nosecone assembly get more in line with the main body to smooth it out even more, but instead they stuck very closely to the original.
Honestly I think they should have ditched his target masters so he could have not-hollow lower arms and upper legs, maybe even work some engineering for the lower legs and release them as a 2 pack core class that costs the same as one core class figure, 2 smaller than average core class figures that have good enough articulation that turn into this guys guns.
I already think target masters are a bit silly, but if they're gonna be tiny hunks of plastic that just have posable gun barrels to make the barely there illusion of a gun then there isn't any point in doing them like this.
That aside I love how this guys head looks like a knight helmet, that and his great articulation make me wanna get him even though I have no idea who he is.
If I remember right the TF wiki made fun of the fact that needle knows helmet looks like the one super Grover wears
