- On February 4, 2015 John Hennessey test drove the 2015 HPE700 Supercharged Ford Mustang GT to a top speed of 195.2 mph at the Continental Tires Proving Grounds in Uvalde, Texas. i think this can go more than 200 mph to be honest look at how fast from 190 to 195. this car has more potential, but needs to change gear ratios. And to people saying Hellcat is faster please watch how this car accelerates again with glasses.
Considering the way it was accelerating, 200 MPH is absolutely possible! I bet even more.
That is what separates a regular boss from a leader. John Hennessey has the balls to test his own creations. Not hire a driver to do it. He is actually endangering himself for the sake of the team, and that is why I have massive respect for that man. Keep up the great work!!!

clearly the car is capable of soooo much more. its funny how so many "supercars" with gobs of aero in there deisgn simply crawls to get near the 200 mark. while this thing is barely in full stride when when it slams into the limiter. mechanically this car seems like it could push a near 215. Thats huge considering this car doesnt even have the fully meat and potatoes exterior treatment
heck, though daily conditions vary, this car even out pace the Hennessey c7 stingray!
please dont defer to the Jeremy Clarkson knowlege base. yes in general weight is bad, the less you have the faster you go, unless there inst enough weight to accompany the friction needed for traction. which is what aerodynamic downforce is all about. delivering enough weight to enable the tires to do there job (create friction) better. As well as stabilizing the vehicles body of mass traveling thru the air. when you talk of downforce your talking hundreds of pound of force (weight) applied to the vehicle when its most need. F1 cars couldnt make a turn if not for all the aero bit on and around the vehicle. I too was very much disappointed with the mustangs weight gain, oppose to the weight loss that was promised by Ford, But this cars performance is far superior to the outgoing model, why is that? its not that much more powerfull than the outgoing car, whats different is how its weight is distributed around the vehicle, its center of gravity is lower, it now has a proper sports car layout, (wheels staggered out occupants in the center of the wheels (pyramid) in stead of on top (box) its proprtions has finally been addressed. lower wider sleaker opposed to tall stubby boxy. GT350/R takes it all a bit further lengthening and widening the car, (staggered front to rear wheels) lower front end etc.

A statement has bee made:
1. Hennessey prayed to GOD for his team, their efforts, their vision and goals. Any one who has seen this video with not be surprise of the 200++ mph once Hennessey and Company (HennCo) let loose this 2015 Mustang Mean Machine,
2. HennCo achieved 195 mph with their 2015 Mustang 700 horse power (Their Camaro 1100 horsepower at 203 mph and Cadillac CTS-V 1200 horsepower at 220 mph.
3. 195 mph on an Oval with a 1.1 mile straight. The Camaro, Cadillac(Toll road) and other high end performers were done on straights 4 to 5 times longer than a 1.1 mile straight.
4. Hennessey not only drove his 2015 Mustang to and from location; by fill up with consumer gasoline. Fresh oil change; and you know a little used oil in your vehicle performs better his oil. Those other top end performers vehicles are carted (towed) in to performance location.
5. Not only did he drive his 2015 Mustang 200 miles for an top end assessment; he drive it home after the assessment. Any you car junkies rave about the Honda/Acura NSX being a daily driver.
A very strong statement made. Ford Racing and numerous tuners may have been caught sleeping. Perhaps not; GT350/Shelby GT500. I cannot wait until HennCo touches the 2015 Mustang EcoBoost. I am saving my change.
Although I'm not a Mustang loyalists I must admit I'm impressed with the 2015's, especially since the IRS. But what I'm most impressed with is how discreet Hennessey keeps the appearance and noise. I might not WANT you to know I've got 700hp.

@Robert Wolfe Yes, he ran out of gears. But I'd think they would change the ratios, allowing for more speed in 6th instead of converting the transmission to a 7-speed. I'd honestly say this thing is capable of doing 215mph with enough room & correct gearing lol. Also, it makes ~700 horsepower at the crank, so maybe 575hp to 625hp at the wheels to account for drivetrain loss.

Agreed. The car pulled hard to 195 and seemed like it had a lot more left in it for a an 200+ mph run. The engine makes 663 hp but I'm not sure if its at the crank or at the wheels. The video is on this channel.

Yeah, but at increased risk of blowing the engine. they'll probably change the gearing around to accommodate a faster speed.

ADeliciousBurrito It would take less than 200rpm boost to crack 200. Seems like a small risk to me if they only want to hit the number.
But changing the gearing is a better option overall for a car with that much power.
thybigballs Neither really. The gearing was a bit too short in order to get the car to 200mph, so they need to change the 6th gear ratio around so it's doing lower rpm's at the same speed, which will allow the car to go faster before hitting the rev limiter.
tamapalagi The car was going really strong just before 195, so i think aerodynamics aren't the reason it couldn't go faster, you can even hear the rev limiter a bit in the video. I think this'll do at least 210mph if they can get a straight enough road and different gearing.

Excellent !! When the road surface is taken into consideration, the car actually exceeds 200 mph [example: if this was done on the German Autobhan]. Then Sir Hennessy was running on the VERY EDGE OF THE ROUGH TRACK [i.e simulating the Left/Right lane on a public road]. This car is in the league of the very best supercars. EXCELLENT !! I love the prayers. Keep it up. Hope you make a couple hundred thousand sales Sir Hennessey.

Imo, considering how well it was still acceleration when it hit the rev-limiter slightly taller rear-end gears is probably all it needs. If it currently has the optional 3.55 rear gears, if they swapped them out for the 3.15 gears that should get them to 200mph. Furthermore It would probably even have better off the line traction with the taller gears considering all the power it makes now.
A 3.31 rear will get it to 210... and then you can tinker with the rev limiter, a 7.4k rpm should be very possible. Extremely fast car!! Great job guys!!

Things can get sketchy real fast at those speeds, especially with car not exactly known for being the most aerodynamic. well done!
Wow , This car accelerated from 150 Mp/h to 190 Mp/h in around 10 secs !! Change the gearing guys , this car will easily exceed 210 Mp/h !

is set to 155mph.
