I absolutely agree with this. This season is the reason I wanted to see a reaction on this show! I honestly see no reason for Nelson to keep Ben alive, and I doubt Marty wouldn't check the body even if we didn't see it ourselves. Besides, with Ben dead there are so many new threads for season 4 to follow! Ruth throws her lot in with Darlene, running a heroin empire, being angry with the Birds. Marty now wholeheartedly a Cartel man. Wendy has now crossed a line and done something unthinkable. Is she really going to blink at having some random person killed now that she's already done something far worse? Besides, Navarro seems to be grooming her into a new Helen, which no doubt will influence her path going forward. Basically, holy fuck give me the next season now please.
I think he's still alive. I think Wendy is in better with Nelson than we realize. We never saw his body outside of the body bag. We did however see Sue in the body bag, and then just her car going into the lake. If he is still alive and shows up next season, think of the drama it creates if he is torn between Wendy on one side and Ruth on the other.

Facts. Marty and Wendy tend to underestimate Darlene. But Darlene has been playing the long game since Season One; she's really good at it and she's winning (as much as I hate to admit lol).

Characters in this season finale were like dices... whoever wrote the script just shaked everything/everyone and presented the result. Jesus. Everything was shuffled.
Unless somehow Ben killed the hitman, and that was his body being burned. Like Alien 3 where it was a random prisoner that was killed and burned instead of Hicks.

Just in case anyone is curious about the song that proceeded the last scene, it is titled " ooh la la " by the hip hop duo - RUN THE JEWELS, from their fourth studio album - RTJ4. Without OZARK, I wouldn't have discovered such great artists, Killer Mike and EL- P.
By the end of season 3 Jonah became a wild card, Ruth's allegiances changed, Darlene (just as nuts) became a whole lot more formidable, and Marty and Wendy Byrd are in the center of it all - hugging the leader of the second largest drug cartel, splattered in blood.
Navarro knows how special family is. And hearing Wendy admit what she had to do is what did it, that and to mention the fact Helen was tryna run everything. He realized his best choice was in fact. The Byrd's.
When I was watching Nikki and Steven react to the show so far something really stuck out. Remember in season 1 when Ruth let out the lynx. She said something to the effect that she is going to learn everything Marty does and then she would kill him. I think that is the biggest foreshadowing, let's find out!
Turning Ruth into an antagonist would be awesomely bold, I can't imagine how heartbreaking it would be to see her and Marty ripping each other apart after everything. But I don't think she has it in her, she's a good person deep down. I'm not sure it would make sense to make her go full villain against Wendy & Marty. But I like the idea anyway !
Now they set it up symmetrically for next season- Darlene with Wyatt and Ruth versus Navarro with Marty and Wendy. LOL I just posted this right before Steven said it
Ben convinced Jonah to follow Ruth with the drone. After everything that happened Ben saved the family. This show has the best writers of all time. Great reaction guys! I was looking forward to this reaction as much as your reactions to GoT episode 9's
The greatest part of the surprises, as shocking and out of left field that they are, they make complete sense to the story and characters. It's BRILLIANT writing.
The comparison to Jonah being like Ben also implies maybe its a hereditary thing in the family genes. Wendy mentions it. Another thing to add to a possible wild card.
Something that goes unnoticed is that Nelson picks up the Byrds. He's always been Helen's driver and the fact that he shows up for the Byrd's could have been foreshadowing.
That ending was fantastic. Helen getting shot out of nowhere like that was the craziest shit yet, and that's saying something for this show. Your guys reaction was the exact same reaction I, and guessing most everyone else, had to it. It will be very interesting to see what happens next season with the places everyone is left in. Most everyone is angry at Marty and Wendy for something, at least Navarro is happy with them. There's definitely a real conflict coming between The Birds and Darlene, with their various family members and allies caught in the middle. As usual with this show I have no idea what's going to happen.

On your Jason Bateman comment. He did a movie called The Gift years before Ozark. And he was so good in it that he was unrecognisable. So you may not see Bateman in the same way after Ozark, but I never saw him the same way after The Gift all thise years ago. So I knew what he was capable of in Ozar. And if you even read this comment, watch The Gift. You will know how good Bateman really is.
The irony is in the fact that it was Ben who persuaded Jonah to take the droid. The Luganes footage is the reason Navarro chose Marty & Wendy over Helen. Ultimately Ben is a major factor in why the Byrdes started seeming expendable yet is the reason they are all still alive.
One the shotgun to the groin bit. Hollywood and games usually overplay the spread of shotgun pellets. And at the range she shot him, even if she shot him with buckshot, the pellets would have still been in the wad(little plastic 'cup' containing the pellets to keep the gas pressure consistent until it leaves the barrel). It would've been almost like shooting him with a slug.

I love the way nicki grabs you when she’s scared or shocked. It shows you are really the person she looks to for protection

I really hope Ben is still alive. He embodied authenticity, decency and had an strong ethical and moral code that shone like a beacon.

On your Jason Bateman comment.
He did a movie called The Gift years before Ozark. And he was so good in it that he was unrecognisable.
So you may not see Bateman in the same way after Ozark, but I never saw him the same way after The Gift all thise years ago. So I knew what he was capable of in Ozar.
And if you even read this comment, watch The Gift. You will know how good Bateman really is.
The irony is in the fact that it was Ben who persuaded Jonah to take the droid. The Luganes footage is the reason Navarro chose Marty & Wendy over Helen. Ultimately Ben is a major factor in why the Byrdes started seeming expendable yet is the reason they are all still alive.
I'll put season 3 of Ozark up against any season of television!!! And that's not hyperbole. It's a valid claim.
If you notice while they were on the plane to Mexico Nelson was staring Helen down the whole time, that was the hint that her end is coming.
One the shotgun to the groin bit. Hollywood and games usually overplay the spread of shotgun pellets. And at the range she shot him, even if she shot him with buckshot, the pellets would have still been in the wad(little plastic 'cup' containing the pellets to keep the gas pressure consistent until it leaves the barrel). It would've been almost like shooting him with a slug.

If I were Wendy and had to face a distraught and angry Jonah, the absolute first thing I would do is throw Helen under the bus. Oh yeah, in a NY minute. "Jonah, Helen betrayed Navarro by putting the hit out on Ben; Helen paid the price. Who are you going to believe, the dead woman down in Central America? Or the woman who just came back from Central America?"
So glad nobody spoiled that ending. My girlfriend told me to let her know when you guys got there so she could watch the reaction with me. Surprise!
