I think a leaf model with 4wd would be cool as well. Maybe put straight axels on it. The real truck had leafs in the rear and coil springs up front of course and would be a nice scale project.
@@allthingsmotorized1885 that doesn't quite cut it unfortunately. The tyres on the TRX4 Defender are around 4.6 or 4.7" and the arches are cut to suit. If it was a scale body the wheels would be a little less that 4". I have 4.35" and before I made my own fender flares they looked lost in the huge arches. But my own flares aren't quite enough either. If you look at the body the arches are cut so big they cut out part of the front doors!
It’s a Stock TUFF TRUCK… doesn’t get any cooler than this!!! Can’t wait to see more of it. Was excited when you mentioned taking it down for stock look. Well this turned out sooooo nice! Really dig it man. Great work and thanks for sharing it so fast!👍👍👍

Perfect timing on the snowfall and completion of the Skeeride II, looking forward to seeing that beast rip up the powder. The Ford looks great too but oh so shiny. Running video should be fun with that one.
I love the look of it back in the 80s I had a buddy that owned a white one and it looks so familiar to this great job Matt flood of memories and some crazy times back then I think it would be a welcomed addition to the traxxas fleet..
I love the look. They should sell one at stock ride height with portal axles . I had a white verson of this truck in high school . I miss that truck so much.
if it is/was in good condition it's worth gold now. GOLD. People are tired of the soccer mom vans pickups have turned into and are going back to when trucks were trucks. I had the opportunity to buy an early 70's C10 7 years ago for $2500....great condition......now? $30,000.
I will say it one last time Candyman Candyman Gen2 RAM, 'looking around the room' Damn, didn't work. I'll be dreaming of my Unicorn and watching in Envy of Ford and Chevy getting the glory 😋
Love it! It looks so good dropped down. And the wheel and tire combo just seals the deal. I like the boat on a trailer idea. Future SBG episodes where we see the trailer get printed and a boat done up? 🤔🤔 Yes, I think Traxxas could easily do a rig like this. Make it LCG, limit the upward travel but have a fair bit of down travel when needed. Make it a 'sleeper' rig that can get down to business if necessary.
The snowmobile turned out great. Nailed the stock f-150 Ranger look on the Traxxas and those aluminum slots look more realistic than the Traxxas versions
I'm hoping the F150 Ford High Trail body fits my K10 Chevy High Trail TRX4 chassis without costly(or time-consuming) alterations. I was in my early twenties in 1979. Both Chevy and Ford PUs modded out were forever etched into my heart as sure as Barbara Eden and Lynda Carter. It would be a Wonder of Traxxas's generosity and as dreamy as Jeanni to alternate the bodies at whim.
Love what you did to the Ford! I'm a Chevy guy, but dang that thing looks good! I would definitely consider buying a lowered/stock looking version of either the Ford or the Chevy, the big lift just isn't for me. Or if they just offered the pick up version of the Blazer and Bronco body I would for sure buy one to replace my TRX4 Blazer body. The snowmobile looks awesome as well! Can't wait to see it in action. I've recently been experimenting with 3D printing, but no projects anywhere near that size! Keep up the great work, I really enjoy this series!
I really wish Traxxas would tint or just leave the windows clear. For the record it looks nice lowered but it looks a lot meaner lifted. But hey at least they got rid of the Body Post. One step at a time I guess.
Link geometry is designed for full compression and droop regardless of ride height. The arc of the 4 link is natural so at full compression it arcs further away and vice versa at droop. 👍
Love the "stock" low look. Yes the sky-high jacked truck is cool but I do dig the very stock appearance thing. I myself have done the SSD portal delete on my TRX4 '79 Bronco and LOVE it! Looks ready to go hunting and fishing! Lol! In my build I added the Traxxas LED light kit, an SSD winch bumper with RC4WD/Warn winch, RC4WD tires and retro white spoke wheels. I did the pinion/spur gear reduction but also did the lower diff gears front and back too. The motor runs cool with NO issues whatsoever. I also added a stock rotation 550 motor as the motor direction changes with the portal delete. Lastly I re-programmed the radio to lock the rear diff solo (not the front) on the first position and then both diffs.....I just prefer it that way. It would be AWESOME if Traxxas offered a stock height kit and even better, a 2WD/4WD selectable trans (as opposed to the current Hi/Lo gear config. I rarely EVER use high gear cuz afterall it's a trail rig not a speed demon! -Cheers!
Just picked up a K10 High Trail and want to drop it to the stock ride height of the Bronco/Blazer and was looking at getting the rear links for those trucks to swap out the K10 rear links. So glad I came across this episode. No to just order that servo mount and a new metal panhard.
This is by far the coolest rc ever! I live in south lake tahoe ca and this would be used everyday here around 8 months a year we have a massive amount of snow we received over 18ft in 3 days last year lol but this is soooooo cool 😎 I love it! Never cease to amaze me with you're builds! If your feelings generous i will take one! 😉
Looks awesome…. Love this rig. So plan on getting one for sure. Looking forward to seeing you build out more options for it in the future. Thank you so much for sharing
Sled looks great and just in time for the snow (well, ice 🙄)! Generally, cold and 3d printed parts don't go well together so, interested to see how it holds up 👍
Love the look of the F150. It only secured the idea in the old brain to pick up a clear body when they are available. Love the sled too. Many out there right now will disagree with me but wish I had snow to run one. Do miss the old skidoo I had in Michigan
As much as I'm in absolute love with the Ford (btw, love that you did what I suggested in the comments, of removing the portals!), the ski ride does not get enough love in the comments! What a sweet build, result, and smooth motion! So good! I gotta do it myself when I get on 3d printing. And I don't even live in a snowy area!😀
Snowmobile and Low trail both look AMAZING 👏 id love to see the low trail detailed as you explained, cant believe they waited so long to come out with a body like that
That snow machine needs an ice chest on the back. Ha ha ha!!! I SOOO wish I had a printer. Maybe just maybe I can figure something out. That thing is so dang cool!! Thanks Matt for another installment of "What's on the Bench....weekly". I look forward to that every....um..week. Yeah that.
Love how it looks now, I have a car hauler trailer it’s beaver tailed so don’t need no ramps and a few boats I have two of the 79 Ford broncos usually pulls my boats around to the lake well appreciate you sharing as always great video. Catch you on the next one until then peace and chicken grease 😁👍👍😎
Its got a 'rider' ha. Looks great. Snowmachines are difficult to translate in performance into the rc world because the riders skills are so much a part of what the machine can do. Placing the rider on a servo that can throw his weight right and left would be a cool addition and would potentially give you significant performance on top of what you already have. As well waiting him and creating a higher center of gravity would allow your sled to perform more realistically. But like I said it looks awesome. A tribute livery to Ken block would be amazing
Now that’s a nice looking truck. Good job! And I agree on the wheels. Hope to see some more European/Asian bodies from Traxxas too - Hardbody… Now, I wish Traxxas get a second chassis out: A TRX-4/6 “Scale” without portals, but with selectable diff locks, 2-speed AND a selectable 2wd/4wd transfer case. Some narrower track width too - so we can select the last few Millimeters with the rims. While we’re at it: A 8 channel radio with bluetooth in a much more compact package - good for shipping too😉
That Ski is F@#$%King BAD@#$! You killed it! I love the "What's on the bench" series! I also lowered my K10 Cheyenne high trail a few weeks ago. I have both red and black ones so I didn't mind to Frankenstein one, lol.
Speaking of all the 3D printing, I'd love to see a video of your setup. Maybe a quick rundown of how to get started, computer, software, filaments, etc. I'm considering buying a Prusa but have no idea what all I would need.
Really looking forward to the running vid of your snow mobile. Traxxas makes beautiful bodies, on par with Kyosho, however it would be great to see something new with their trail truck platform. A leaf sprung version, a non portal version, something like that. Under the body it's just the same truck over and over. Buy one TRX 4 and then just collect all the bodies.
Traxxas did a great job on the truck. Sbg hit it OUT OF THE PARK. I love the bfg and rim combo. Maybe you could add the old turbine rims for that classic look. Critique for traxxas- Dent chrome is missing black center stripe, rear and marker lights are not greatly disproportionate, black windows... : l Would be nice to have a clear body with the rollbar delete for a more scale look. Wonderful build.
The ski is really cool👍 and the Ford lowered is truly from 1979, that looks awesome...more trucks where like that than lifted in those days..I would like to do that to a truck, maybe the Chevy🤔 well done on both projects, your talent is amazing!!!!!!
I really like this end result. I was expecting the bagged dragger type look when you said lower... and now I'm thinking a high trail "6-fo" type build would be pretty interesting. Lol
Very nice snowmobile, totally printed and the tracks are pliable. That f150 looks killer, traxxas nailed the body but should have done a non portal truck for a change. The "scale trail edition" equipped with sbg sticker of course
Hey Matt, Another great weekly episode of what’s on the bench as usual. Just wondering if your gonna 3d print a (in Canada 🇨🇦 Ski-doo ) snow mobile deck to carry that snow mobile on the ford f150 truck now that it’s lowered and looking 👀 stock. Great job as usual. Thanks again for sharing. 😊
Anyone using the portal deletes, you need a good servo and adjust your end points to way less than max angle, or install steering stops of your own design. I went through 2 sets of front axle shafts in my Class 1 comp truck when I ran this setup before changing to a 800oz servo that had the power to avoid hard angle binds.
Absolutely love this Traxxas you really need to offer one like this to us from the factory I own many trx4,s and other Traxxas models I'm a huge Traxxas fan would love to see this available for purchase from Traxxas.
LOVE THAT LOOK! I was thinking of doing something along the lines or Ms Bigfoot or Bigfoot Ranger, but that lowered down looks awesome. I can't wait to see the Snow mobile in action too
Hi Matt We don't get snow here, but that snow mobile looks fun! Maybe glue your riders feet and hands so he can lift his bum going over jumps and bumps..? Really liking the F-150 Ranger, definitely keep us updated with that build, looking forward to the next running video at "stock" height 👍🏼
You can also use the taxxas trx4 underdrive gears front and rear with the ssd portal delete kit to get gearing better I used 1800kv hobbywing fusion 45t spur 9t pinion 2x underdrive diff gear kits Works really well with a hardbody
I think you’re on to something! Imagine if we were offered “stock” vehicle from the manufacturers. The paths of customization could go in so many different directions!
Nice. It does look better lowered. I wouldn't paint the bed black, they didn't do that back then. But maybe a smokey flat clear, to remove the shine and cause a shadow effect for the illusion of depth. I would chrome the roll bar. The chrome paints scratches easy. But I foresee that being a shelf queen anyway.
Like the ski. Great build. We have had almost zero snow in VA. Would not be nearly as much fun down here. The truck looks very close to the 78 f150 I owned. I traded it on car and was not as shiny as the Traxxas model.
I've already received all the parts to make the F-150 body fit my short wheelbase chassis kit, including portal deletes too. Just waiting for the brown body to release! I also got the Fusion SE 1800kv on the way with a 9T. 1200kv is about the same speed as stock brushed motor so I hope I don't regret the 1800kv. I was just going swap the motor wires on the Titan but I didn't think that motor would last very long doing with the fan not spinning the right way plus the added wheel speed.
I got a traxxas bigfoot body from my local hobby shop a year or so back and put it on a cco2 chassis and did just that, it looks identical to that body except for the bigfoot decals, nice looking rig that.
Very very cool build with the snowmobile but I truly think you're going to need a lot more steering angle to be able to do any kind of turning on a harder packed snow
You've made the TRX look amazing Matt, very nice! I wish Traxxas made a licenced truck body like this- that fitted the sport platform, it would sell like hotcakes!
Awesome. I want Traxxas to make this stance. My dad had this truck and I want it, but not in the high trail edition. C'mon Traxxas make this an RTR option.
I keep coming back to look at this lowered trx4 👍
Glad you like it!
Not for everyone , but a 2wd leaf spring version would be very cool. Deeper bed , etc. but still love the high trail as well 👍
I would love to see a leafer build come from axial or Traxxas.
Hell yeah as that would be bad ass but I don't see this ever happening, lol
I would buy it, just leave the windows clear. Soon as I saw Matt's first video about I started thinking 2wd because it reminded me of my 75 f100
I think a leaf model with 4wd would be cool as well. Maybe put straight axels on it. The real truck had leafs in the rear and coil springs up front of course and would be a nice scale project.
2wd with rear leafs and a scaled Ford twin i-beam setup (note: I didn't say twin traction beam) - I'd be down for that!
The stock look is amazing, would be awesome to see Traxxas do a no portal truck and a stock looking rig.
Hopefully companies come out with beadlock wheels of the traxxas stock wheels & in black!
Yes waaay better. I just wish they released the Defender body without the vast gaping arches - not possible to do this with the Defender.
Traxxas needs to make a 1/6scale high trail🥹😍
@@avipatable just do a portal delete or go for shorter shocks
@@allthingsmotorized1885 that doesn't quite cut it unfortunately. The tyres on the TRX4 Defender are around 4.6 or 4.7" and the arches are cut to suit. Lol you beat me to it, this is exactly what I'm planning to do to my high trail Ranger once it gets to my hobby shop. Looks so much better
Agreed!
Love what you've done with the forchevy😅💯
Thanks for the suggestions!
Love this. Did the same to my k10 high trail. I’d love to see Traxxas do some straight axle trail trucks.
Super cool remote control snowmobile Yep we’re watching really love the new Ford TRAXXAS came out with I want the black one yeah
Thanks for watching!
Like the ski. Great build. We have had almost zero snow in VA. Would not be nearly as much fun down here. The truck looks very close to the 78 f150 I owned. I traded it on car and was not as shiny as the Traxxas model.
Doesn't VA usually get a bit of snow?
Just beautiful Ford bronco, great job 👍👍👍👍🤩
Thanks 👍
8am-ish. Love thanks for another great episode Matt
Thanks for watching!
Honestly that ford looks killer both ways, but I think they should offer it in stock form and high trail version. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
The high trail looks amazing slammed!
The snowmobile is cool. The biggest issue is steering needs weight transfer. It’s something I’m trying to sort out on mine.
I got a traxxas bigfoot body from my local hobby shop a year or so back and put it on a cco2 chassis and did just that, it looks identical to that body except for the bigfoot decals, nice looking rig that.
Thanks!
Traxxas- ' Hey you should see if you can make our truck look stock and lame " ha. Always putting out good work my man.
😂
Very very cool build with the snowmobile but I truly think you're going to need a lot more steering angle to be able to do any kind of turning on a harder packed snow
Stay tuned!
That is a really good looking truck. Let hope that traxxas is listing.
