Jerry Reed is my guitar hero!!! I grew up in the 60's & 70's learning all the good music from the the south and mixing up the blues as a little more spice. He was everything! Think about it and look this guitar God!!!!!
I used to wonder if my life had purpose or meaning, then I heard Jerry sing the line "cause theyre people there that care a little bit about me and won't let the po boy down". I could die happy
I know it's not a competition but in my opinion most covers Jerry did are better than the original. The only one I've heard so far that isn't is Early Morning Rain
Jerry Reed was a great singer and guitars why didn't he sing more of those songs and come out on records and he also sang some slow songs about love he's really talented person love to hear him all the time and when he sang Chuck Berry songs here they were great just as greatest Chuck Berry.
That prooves: Jerry could play ALL - blues, jazz, boogie, country - just terrific! Sadly the guy on the lead guitar overplays him; they should have changed the roles; Jerry had to play lead...
too bad Jerry didn't play some lead. this is big time. I'm seeing this about 3 weeks after Chuck passed, rest his soul .I'd like to find an old tape of BB KING w/ JERRY REED on TV. both playing electric guitar ,around 1980 ish.
Jerry should be the lead guitar, not strumming an acoustic guitar. His playing is drowned out by the electric guitar, which is a shame. Jerry should play lead electric guitar and do Chuck Berry properly.
Everyone knows county is the base of rock and roll!! From Waylon to Buddy Jerry to Berry!!! All music with the clip a te clock beat is country and that is what rock is based on!!!

Several points - a medley tribute of popular songs was common on variety shows like Wagoner’s. When well-done like Reed’s Berry medley, they renewed interest in the original artists’ works, bringing in sales and royalties if the artists still owned the rights. If new medleys garnered enough attention, they could lead to covers being recorded, garnering more royalties, or updated releases by the original artists. Also, I believe Reed and Berry were acquainted as they’d both been in the business for ages. Reed was known as being a supreme pro and nice, not the sort to piss on Berry’s legacy.
They just don't make them that way no more. Rest in Peace Jerry.

I come back to this every year or so and it's always harder and funkier than I remember. What an incredible band.
Am I angry that Jerry didn't realease an album with the full songs on. Yes this stuff is amazing
🤪 ball. Thanks for sharing. The mouse in my pocket n I are enlightened.
Jerry could have done some Chuck covers album like he did on Jim Croce.
Jerry was, and is The Music himself..
Paul Yandal awesome
That Tele player is terrific!
Paul yandell he was chet’s side man for years
Jerry Reed is "BadAss" enough said.
god paul yandell is going to town on this track! he just play amazing riff after amazing riff , that johnny b good is ureal its just all amazing
I always think Jerry was going to play this on the show and he was like "if I ain't playing lead we need the next best thing! Get Paul on the phone!"
Lord have mercy... Jerry's on fire tonight!
Jerry Reed was a great guitarist
Badass Jerry Reed the ole Snowman Comon'
He just lays down the lyrics so well. And of course his musicianship is off the scale.
I used to wonder if my life had purpose or meaning, then I heard Jerry sing the line "cause theyre people there that care a little bit about me and won't let the po boy down". I could die happy
The late Great Larrie London is on drums! Jerry Shook on bass I believe. Paul Yandell and Jerry!
Surprised to see Jerry playing rhythm on this performance.
That's Chuck will some twang.
Jerry nails the Berry, makes it his own.
I know it's not a competition but in my opinion most covers Jerry did are better than the original. The only one I've heard so far that isn't is Early Morning Rain
@@adrianjames1940 His version of City of New Orleans is so unique. Flanger on a gut string guitar!
What? No hat?
Jerry Reed. An awesome talent we will miss.
Jerry Reed and Chuck Berry are two of my favourite guitarists. Here Jerry covers a number of Chuck's greats, fantastic, catchy, rhythmic, great stuff!
And ole' Paul Yandell is Thumb-pickin' here - no flat picks allowed...
What’s the drummers name? He killed it, he’s awesome
The great Late Larrie London.
@@JimmyWillis Thank you.
Thank you Lord for RUclips

dude in the back left aint no slouch either
I'm pretty sure that's Paul Yandell on electric guitar... for the bass and drums, I don't know...
I did not know Paul Yandell. Obviously a fantastic musician.
Rumour has it, he was the only player around who could play Chet Atkins music as well as Chet, so Chet hired him as his rhythm guitarist :)
@@alfsmith4936 He always kept Chet motivated and "pushed" in a way.
Love the nudie suits!!! Jerry is just a super singer/musician. I loved him. Thanks!!!

Jerry's not playing lead
god that Memphis song he just play some great stuff too
Wow. What a legend
And let's not forget, the legendary Larrie London on drums.... dayuuummmm !!
Damn, they are rockin' like the Swampers (Muscle Shoals). The sense of rhythm Jerry especially possesses is supernatural.
Great to see a young Paul Yandel
That prooves: Jerry could play ALL - blues, jazz, boogie, country - just terrific! Sadly the guy on the lead guitar overplays him; they should have changed the roles; Jerry had to play lead...
It’s a pity that Paul Yandell never did much as an artist besides backing some of the most remarkable guitarists .
@@chipperdave6833 he found his role and perfomred it remarkably. Nothing wrong with that imo
You're right, to an extent. He's not overplaying, but his volume level is way, way, way too hot. He should have realized this.
Absolutely brilliant
The Snowman is coming through!

Tony M if you really wanna see it, just type in “bb king jerry reed” into RUclips and a bunch of the songs they sang/played together pop up
Jerry Reed is my favorite guitarist of all time in any genre, but gotta give his lead guitarist in this video his props, he killed it.
Tribute to chuck Barry live
That was great! I wish Jerry had a Hollow Body Electric in his hands over the acoustic but just my take on it. What an awesome musician.
Boogeh Boogeh Boogehh!
Waouhh !! Surely the best tribute !!

Great guitar player on the left. Cant remember his name. Backed up Chet Atkins for decades.
Porter Wagoner is a bum

Hey dose anyone know what album this is off of
Excelente, bom demais. maneco - Brasil.
I had never heard of this guy until Smokey and the Bandit. Sorry folks I'm from Australia.
Why didn't Jerry play lead?
I think Jerry sings Chuck Berry better than anyone else. The whole band is great here.
Great covers. But why don't he play th solos?
I'll be back in just a minute after some bullying of Dolly Parton.
We used to call him the Nashville Vampire.
good stuff
Can anyone name the session guys? GEE-tarr, bass & drums?
Go Jerry, Go!
The guitarist is Paul Yandell I believe
Great groove on Memphis.

Its a tribute dude. Lenny Kravtiz did a tribute to 'American Woman' by CCR.
Same but different.
Wow man this is a tribute from a country musician to a rock legend!
Chuck Berry got royalties as a songwriter for this. I'm sure he was happy. The only thing that's missing, IMHO, is a verbal acknowledgement.
