A regular band over a tiny piece of doubled cheesecloth works perfectly on reused jars, too! But I recently got a 50lb bag of organic whole barley for insanely cheap (under $16!!) which I plan to sprout for fodder for my MIL’s flock. As they are larger seeds, and I will be doing bigger batches, I needed something closer to a tray format like this. Luckily I just got some extra storage containers like these but about 100% bigger from the Thrift. So I don’t feel bad about poking them!
Hello sweet beautiful friend! I will definitely try this. I never have thought about it until I saw your video. Like I've said before you make me think outside the box and I love that. Thank you for being the person you are I love it.
Aw, thank you Jessica--your comments are always so encouraging! I think that says a lot about you, how you build others up. I'm so happy this was interesting to you! I've heard the lentils are good for feeding chickens to cut down on feed costs, or in stir fries, but the smaller sprouts are better for salads than the lentils. I do like their cheap price though.
great idea, I may try this to get seeds started that I want to plant in the ground, this looks like it might be good to find out if you've got good seeds or not.
That would be an interesting use for it! This method is specifically for mass sprouting for dietary application, so let us know if it works for that as well!
So, will you try this healthy hack?!

Cut out of the lid was brilliant, which allows them to stack for watering. Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful! The idea wasn't original to me; the video I linked in the description gave me that idea, I think.
Just what I was looking for. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Now I can try to try to grow some sprouts .🌱
Oh good! I need to start up a new batch of sprouts because my mixed salad is looking boring without!

I use the small mesh bag that garlic comes in for a top on my jars

Great timing! I have broccoli seeds I'm going to start today.
Oh cool! Hope it goes well! :) I'm enjoying seeing the sprouts a bit bigger each morning!
