  • Soooo many gorgeous and amazing places to be seen in Laos that very few people get to see because they're unable to venture along the less travelled roads. We take you off the main roads and show you parts of Laos many don't get to see! Today we travel..
Off the beaten track in Savannakhet Laos | BIG WET E24
In the southern Laos province of Savannakhet we visit a Lao Phu Tia village with a 400 year old temple library that survived the bombings of the war. The monkey forest that is nearby, a massive inland lake and a very interesting roadside village market.. Enjoy!

Very Interesting ,the architecture and the library, very clever ,building it in water to ward off white ants and rodents. The monkeys were cute/interesting,I was thinking a few weeks ago,if we would ever come across monkeys,at some stage.Another different little market too. Cheers for that...Kenno

Hi Brother! Lao never fails to surprise and delight,,,just like our Mina-bug. Omg that old temple was amazing,,Rotay Pidok,,the library was mind blowing! What a design. Good thing most designers arent as good as those old boys otherwise we'd never get rid of shitty old stuff. Stuff made of natural things,,ie. rock and wood. In the States,,,there are a handful of old buildings back east that are that old and in the desert in New Mexico there are a few buildings left from the 1500s. I love those old buildings too,,some pueblos built by the Natives and some buildings in Santa Fe built by the Spaniards probably originally built in that style by the Moors of N. Africa. Made from mud bricks and plastered with more mud,,fairly high maintenance,, replastered about every 2 years to keep the cracks under control. In Spanish,,Adobe. Have friends in New Mexico that live in an adobe house from the 1880s,,walls over 20 inchs which in hot country,,never need A.C. and not too much heat. Mud is a great insulator as opposed to the grand and glorious style from ( Merry Olde England) built from stone. That stuff is a freezer,,always cold. Was a great video,,very interesting! Tell Mina her Uncle Marlon loves her and is proud of her for how well shes adapted to school. Take care buddy,,Ttyl,,,Marlon

Savannakhet has a whole different feel than other parts of Laos. It's beautiful. The monkeys are cute. Particularly the mother with her baby A question I have to ask and I might already know the answer. Are there different dialects in each region of Laos ? Slang words? How are you coming along with the language Todd? Hope you guys are doing ok. Be Well! Stay Healthy !
