Mexican Moms Try VEGAN Mexican Food!

- We asked our Mexican moms to try vegan Mexican food! 😋🇲🇽🌱
Will they like the vegan version of the Mexican dishes they know and love?
We asked Mexican moms to taste test and try vegan Mexican food. With more and more meat substitutes become available and plant based foods becoming more accessible, we decided to have the mamás try dishes they are familiar with but with the vegan twist! The moms tried vegan carne asada tacos, vegan burritos, vegan tortas, vegan sopes, vegan quesadillas, and even vegan birria tacos! Would you try the vegan version of your favorite foods?

6:54 I definitely agree with Lucy “the meat doesn’t make our food, it is the taste of it”
That's true
Xochitl: Gets wasted in every fiesta.
Also Xochitl: Doesn't eat meat because it is healthier.
It's all about balance
lmao, I love her
Hashtag priorities
She is just vegan
Gods good
i think she said she doesn't eat red meat, but eats chicken and stuff.
As a Mexican Vegan of almost 5 years I love watching videos like these! For anyone thinking about trying vegan food, go for it!! You don’t have to fully transition. Just one vegan meal a day helps drastically 🙏🏽
3 years for me!!! Keep it going!!!
most Mexicans food is vegan.... ....but, if you want to live longer, add some meat.
l not Mexican but my mouth is 🤤 l want to eat all of them 😭
@@wetguavass actually the majority of Mexican food in not vegan. A lot of beans contain lard if it’s not made with vegetable oil and our rice is traditionally made with chicken broth/bouillon. Additionally, a plethora of studies have shown that a plant based diet helps with longevity much more than consuming animal products. Kindly educate yourself before making assumptions.
@@edwindano wooo you as well!!🥳
This makes me so happy to see that they enjoyed a lot of the vegan food. Plant based cooking has come such a long way!
most mexican food is plant based
That is definite! Even gluten free products have become so much better than what it was 30 years ago!
Vegan cooking was always good. It’s just now more people are catching on
"They're saving me from eating this" 😂😂😂 Thank you Lucy for that backhanded compliment
Wow, these foods look so interesting. I'm not a vegan, but I would try these foods! Great video MaMah! 😋😋
Yup! 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Yummy 😋
Marta is becoming a staple on mamah. More Marta please.
Mexican vegan of 8 years! I am sooo happy they had such a good response to these Mexican vegan dishes. It is 2022 and this is proof that you CAN veganize foods of your culture and wanting to do so is not an insult to it. We out here eating good and saving animals! I recommend everyone try more vegan foods. :) Such a good video! Love this channel.
most Mexican food is vegan. the most Mexican dish.... beans , chile, and corn tortillas
@@wetguavass Absolutely. Meat doesn't need to be the center of every dish, but there are vegan meat alternatives for those who want to incorporate it. 👍🏻 This goes for food in general.
@Baby B Awesome! I love to hear it. 😊
@@mgclvgn exactly! And one of the mom's said it best, "meat doesn't make the dish, it's the flavor." I'm Mexican and vegan (going on 6 years), and I've had a good amount of vegan Mexican food, some amazing and some not good at all. It's all on how you flavor and cook it.
@@wetguavass Beans as a meall? Okay, yeah I've done that plenty. I don't think I've ever had something with chile [besides guacamole, which is more of a snack] without meat. And while I have eaten corn tortilla by itself just because it smelled nice that's more of an ingredient than a meal.
The only meal I know has no meat is chile rellleno. But it's not vegan because of the egg batter and cheese. Please enlighten me on Mexican meals that are vegan because most of the things I can think of are lima beans, chickpeas, sometimes lentils if they choose to put no meat, guacamole, ensalada de nopales, and rehydrated soy meat [that sometimes gets nixed with fish for ceviche].
I love Marta progression of confidence in each video. Now she dressing up and showing out for each video…..get out the way Lucy and Xochitl a new star is born lol😍😍😍😍
Almost been 3 years of being vegan, and I refused to give up my fav Mexican dishes. And I’ve been able to veganise all my fav dishes. Love this video! Lucy, I’m surprised you liked a good majority of them lol!
congrats on three years :D
Im up to 6 years now! In the past few years i have been busy with work and cooking for others rather than myself. do you have a good vegan asada recipe?
Are u British mexican?
Congrats! Even when I still eat meat half of my meals are vegan and I do enjoy them a lot! ❤
i don't think i'd ever go vegan, but having more options would allow me to enjoy the taste of meat without having to eat meat as often.
Great way of thinking!
Funny, that's usually what a person that turns vegan says beforehand. You should consider not just the plant based diet, but also the vegan lifestyle as it is super super cruel what they do to the animals.
@@dot5816 veganism is good but I still wouldn't do it
@@dot5816 why are you trying to force him?
@@azucenam.178 ? you can't force someone to go vegan. unless he somehow finds his address and stuffs vegan food in their mouth for the rest of their life.
Mi Gente! I am Mexican and grew up eating traditional food--my mother was an amazing cook. I have been vegan or 18 years and thank God, we have tons more options now. Mexican is really easy to veganize :) Muchas Gracias! 🥰
I love seeing older generations more open to options that normally wouldn’t be accepted a few years back
I’m Mexican American and I’m going on 8 years vegan and I cook Mexican food all the time even my family and friends who are not vegan always finish my dishes first at parties because they love the taste and how light you feel after eating. I love Mexican food but I love it even more now that I’m vegan. It is possible to make vegan food delicious, I’m greatful I know how to cook!
Mexican moms have passion and their responses earn my respect another great episode
I love how they’re so open to different versions of their culture and the pride they have that others get to experience it even if it may be different from the traditional way.
Everyone looks so nice in this one... Great job.
Yay I loved this! I loved their honest reactions even when they didn't like something. I'm not a big fan of jackfruit either but I'm still very much open to trying it because there's gotta be someone out there that cooks it right. I would love to see treats like vegan ice cream, vegan arroz con leche or vegan cake, or definitely other cultures like vegan Thai or vegan Indian food!
You should do Mexican moms try each other’s dish where they all have to make the same certain dish.
i would love this! seconded 👌🏽👍🏽
Yes!
🙄 for the millionth times they did it already
@@richyyLR didn’t know only one dish existed
@@richyyLR and they actually haven’t. They have never cooked on the Chanel but work guess you know everything
Request: Mexican moms try Lay dips like French onion, ranch dip, jalapeño dip I would really like to see their reactions
Would be cool! Throw in the Fritos Bean Dips for fun as well.
you've posted this so many times that i doubt that they haven't seen this already
@@josiptito9412 yes and I will keep doing it even if it takes months
Yes. But of course, they'll absolutely love the Fritos bean dip instantly. Lol.
As I do. 👍🏼
@@JorgeRTrevino
I commented before reading comments. Lol
Can you please share which vegan cheese you used for the quesadillas? Awesome video!
Honestly. We all know they didn’t use Daiya.
I love watching these beautiful Mexican…. They are funny and love it when they put out their knowledge. I love learning as now I am a Mexican mom.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m lucky enough to have a vegan restaurant down the street from me with a ton of Mexican options on the menu. Mole burrito, chile relleno, tortas, tacos etc. Grain Café 🙌
Vegan about 4 yrs, always fun to see omnivores see how great vegan food can be. Also, jackfruit is a hard sell for me… it really has to be prepared well!
These 3 ladies make my day. Super adorable!
Lucy: "They're saving me from eating this. Thank you." Savage.
I loved the video, they should make a ranking of Boing juices!
Me watching this as I’m eating my vegan picadillo. Hell yea we eating good authentic Mexican food out here y’all
Hope it was delicious! 😋
This made me so happy to watch! Everything they ate looked delicious! As a vegan of almost four years who only likes select vegan cheeses, I wonder which one they tried.
Yesss! I’ve been waiting for this one!
Hope you liked it!
Looks amazing! Which restaurant is all the food from?
love these ladies! 💜
Love these ladies! The food looks delicious!
Estaria chido ver un video distinto, tal vez una receta de mole o pozole como los videos de tasty, o probando recetas mexicanas de las otras mamás 💛
Love your videos as always mamah
This is my favorite video yet!
So glad to see Lucy!!!
I love you moms ..love your videos! 🙏❤
I understand Xochitl's reaction to the jackfruit because I have been a vegan for years and still don't like green jackfruit. I have tried it in many recipes to me it has a weird aftertaste & the taste can not be masked.
i always early bc i love youre vids the mamahs are so funny
Wow que buenos se miran!! We also have traditional vegan dishes...
Or vegan tacos al pastor made with champiñones instead of meat. Im surprised they didnt try that
I’m like Xóchitl, I don’t eat red meat (going on 13 years now) so often times I have “alternative” foods and/or my family will accommodate to me which is awesome!
Should try more vegan. I had vegan empanadas the other day. Very good. They were made out of Tempeh.
Amazing video! HUGE fan of these mom's. I do think they should rank goldfish ! 🤗
These vids are so interesting I love the videos
Thank you for watching ❤️
Yaaaay lucy is back
The vegan chorizo is always over seasoned it seems that they add the same amount of seasoning per meat ratio in the vegan chorizo but forget that fat can take a lot of seasoning unlike carbs
its so interesting to see the opinions of the older generation on vegan food especially our mexican dishes
lmaooooo i died at part 0:44 😂😂😂
Thank you for this mamah. As a Mexican that tries to avoid eating animals this was very special for me.
My mouth is watering right know! Im gonna try the “Virria” tacos today 🌮 Viva Mexico! Viva vegan food!
Yay you guys didi it!! I still want them to try Burgers made out of different BEANS! Lol
Me encanta este video, peroooo puede compartir las recetas! 🥰
I would've loved to seen Alicia and Carol's reaction as well
My home country has a jackfruit salad dish. It's my fave menu.
Love y'all Ladies 💖💖💖
I loved this video!! Does anyone have a good recipe for vegan asada?
Good to know there are some good options out there.
I love this and the authentic reactions of the Mamas 🥰👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽✨
About the jackfruit, it was probably prepared with canned jackfruit. I can’t stand the taste of the canned brine either. You have to boil the brine out before seasoning. But a lot of people, including my kids, don’t mind it.
In my town there is a taco stand that makes jackfruit birria. It’s the second worst thing I’ve ever eaten (and that’s saying a lot because the vegan restaurants around here are fire 🔥). Wet, sour, soggy. Their Mexican rice was really bad too and I have so many Aunties from Mexico making THE BEST authentic food. Anyway just because someone is vegan and from Mexico doesn’t mean they can cook necessarily. But the 👋🏻 peepo love it 😂
I’d like to see them compare side by side while trying stuff
That sudden Goat scream had me laughing.
🐐🐐🐐
Lmaoo not the cheese word counter 💀💀
Lucy was like 🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀
I took French in high school for 3 years
Chinese in college for one year which was super hard
I've never had any interest in learning Spanish but it's easy for me to pick up but I'm happy I've learned a new sentence🤗
Where you from?
@@MiloSatori Baltimore md
Would you share what brand meat substitutes were used, or where the food was from if it was from a restaurant?
Which cheese did you use for the quesadilla?? I would love to try it!!
I love this!
Jackfruit is my favorite meat substitute it's soo good specifically smoked ala smoked 🐷
I love Lucy lol I wish she was my mom. She’s so fun.
I’m addicted to these women ❤️
Loved this video. I prefer to be vegetarian but it doesn't work for my health right now. I miss traditional Mexican dishes and this gives me some alternatives!
Wow I would LOVE to learn to make those soy tacos❤❤❤ i had the chorizo vegan its so good
Xochitl reminds me of my mum. Down to the eyeliner on the bottom lashline.
Please, please tell me what cheese you used in the quesadilla! Vegan for 6 years and always on the lookout for a better one!
The "pls help" sent me 🤣
Jackfruit is sweet like a little mango type flavor. I made tinga with jackfruit and it was pretty good it's more of a sweet chicken type deal
I love all these chicas
Okay where y’all got the Birria tacos cuz I want try now Haa
Can you do a part 2 please?
Where is the food from?? I want to try it!
Love this page
You ladies are awesome! So open to try new things. I love it!
I'm white and LOVE Mexican food, it is my favorite food in the world! But I cannot find a gluten free, celiac safe, Mexican restaurant anywhere near me. Please, someone open a franchised, 100% gluten free Mexican restaurant! Not just a restaurant that has "gluten options". Those places are fake gluten free and never safe.
Great Video!
In the Philippines, we always use jackfruit as a replacement of meat or with meat. We call it langka.
"Maybe I could be vegan!"..... "For a week!" I love that LOL, Lucy is awesme.
I tried Jackfruit in Jamaica and it was pretty good.
It's tasty!
Very interesting project, Marta has slowly become a staple member of this channel when Marta says....soon we will have to go this way (plant based)as the price of red meat. Go mama's
Ahh! Xochitl! Come to Orange County, Fullerton, California and try the BEST vegan food ever at "Chicana Vegana"! Such a cool channel!
Hello I love these try video
my fav trio
If Lucy’s Mexican from like the actual country it’s so interesting how she pronounces some Spanish words like a gringa . I’ve noticed that even in other vids lol “ this SHOREEZOH”
well you tend to do that for Americans to understand you when you're speaking to them
@@el_equidistante If you don't speak Spanish at all the pronunciation won't matter
@@supernatural5354 of course it does, people won't understand what you say, it's like Surnames in the US, people pronounce them as they would say it in English not as they're supposed to sound originally. Different sounds and cadence confuse people about what you're referring to.
Here in Phoenix this guy has a food truck with nothing but vegan Mexican food and I always take non vegans there and surprise them. “This isn’t real meat for real?” Is the common question I get lol
Are these dishes from a restaurant or made from a cookbook? Would love to cook them at home!
I don't remember being at a place with as many perfectly tasty vegan options as I'm experiencing now, living in Mexico. I'm so glad the Mexican Moms approve it.
Y’all are the best MAMAH group y’all should rank each other’s cooking next and Mexican candy
Me fascinan estos videos.
"I love to eat meat!". Jajaja
My mom says that, all the time! Hahaha
I agree with Xochitl about jackfruit. I bet it's yummy as a ripe fruit, but the unripe meat substitute es muy mal. Other than that, I've had good and bad vegan meats and cheeses. There's definitely a lot of good stuff out there.
Y’all should try Cascabel Mexican vegan in Houston it’s the best Mexican vegan food I’ve ever had!!🤩
Wow, to see the moms be so open and willing to try the food and actually enjoy it is beautiful! It’s not the meat that makes the food but the seasoning!!!
When I went 3 months vegan for a challenge with my mom we did tried to make birria and other vegan substitute dishes We realized the flavor is pretty much in the seasonings! You just gotta find the right produce that emulates certain textures. Of course companies are gonna have the tools to replicate the best certain textures and flavors, but you can also make the best out of soy, jackfruit and tofu with delicious flavor in your everyday life by yourself.
To this day we still make vegan dishes even though we’re not vegan because we just love the taste and the price 💗
I love themmmmm
Yay more Martha ☺️💕
