Along with having all his recorded music, my husband and I watched him perform live many, many times. He was not only a talented singer/song writer, but he could captivate an audience with his sense of humor and was always ready to stop and speak with his fans. I don’t think he got the recognition he deserved from the country music industry. Thanks for the video.
Earl Thomas Conley was one of the greatest entertainers of the 80's! I sing most of his songs at karaoke keeping his memories alive! He deserved more recognition and success! Vale and RIP, never to be forgotten! On behalf of all his Australian fans!❤
He was an amazing singer. 'That was a close one' was my favorite. He was so very popular, it's a shame he isn't mentioned much by the current country industry. RIP sir. May Gods Grace and Comfort be with all who knew him and his many fans.
I discovered Earl's music about 20 years ago when I was in my early 20's and I bought the ''Essential Earl Thomas Conley'' cd and I was so floored by his music. One great song after another and I played that c.d for a long time.
He got us through the 80s. It would not had been the same without his music in the 80s. I just now found out he died. Now I'm bummed out : ( I hope he's in Heaven.
I’m not a country music fan, but I did stumble onto Earl Thomas Conley’s history recently. I had a 3rd Great grandmother Nancy (Conley) Hamilton from near Portsmouth. Conley’s has 2 sets of 4th gg parents that are my 5th gg parents in the Captain Henry Connelly and Joines family lines. Earl Conley would be a 3rd cousin once removed to sportscaster and former Kentucky Rupp’s Runts Basketball player, Larry Conley. He is also a double 3rd cousin twice removed to Historian William Elsey Connelley, who wrote about the Conley family history. Earl Thomas Conley adds even more color to this very interesting Conley family line! I couldn’t trace Earl’s mother’s, Davis and Meadows, family lines? Since he was noted for not able to sing at all (couldn’t carry a tune in a basket), it amazes me that my mother’s grandfather, apparently, has multiple distant cousins that are great country and bluegrass musicians/song writers/singers!
Thanks for the video Dave. Also, sincere apologies for messing up my initial Pay Pal attempt. Please disregard the first one. Getting old my friend. Thanks for all you do. Never heard of this guy either Dave. being your Yankee brother from Pittsburgh. But what I am starting to notice is how many country singers are originally northerners. I believe Dwight Yoakum was raised in NYC, if I have that right. This guy worked a steel mill in Ohio. In a non-related fact, William McCarty, AKA "Billy The Kid" was also born and raised in NYC
Let me know if you received that Dave. Sorry for the mistake. I think I have it down now. I actually requested before sending. Yes Dave. I feel stupid. Sorry man.
@@CMSProductions Of course, my friend. I've fit you into my monthly budget. You're a really good dude Dave. Make you a deal tho, once you get 200,000 subscribers, you owe me a beer and a guest visit on your show !. Ha. I'll even come to you. I have a friend Sue who lives in VA Beach. I can hit there on my way to my big brothers house in Savannah
@@CMSProductions Sorry for first messing up and actually trying to bum 20 bucks off ya. I have two brain cells left at this age Dave. One's lost, and the other is out looking for it
@Michael O'Toole So you are now joining my brain cell club. You sent the bill and I started to pay it. No worries my friend. Because of your kindness and donation. I am creating the "Spotlight TV Super Stars" that will include a list of all sponsors for that Month and will be included in every video for that month. That was a long winded way of saying that your name will be mentioned in every future video for April.
@@CMSProductions Aw hell Dave. I, like you, didn't do it to be acknowledged. You can call me your "Pittsburgh Faction", Dumbass, whatever ya want my friend, if it can lead to giving you more time to make us happy with your content. Truly bro, I've learned more about country music from you in three months than I did my whole life. Respect, my friend !
Earl Thomas Conley should be in The Country Music Hall of Fame already!!!
