Psyco Mk-III is the final boss in the game. He/she is an unplayable character.
===== About Psyco Mk-III =====
Psyco Gundam Mk-III is an original character created for this game, and the pilot of this mobile suit is Maria Nicholls. The design of the mech/robot seems to be based on the predecessors Psycho and Psycho Mk-II, both of which are in the actual anime. The character is extremely tall and large, and towers over all the regular mechs in the game.
Gameplay-wise, Psyco Mk-III has permanent "super armor", which means that he cannot be stunned. He is an absurdly powerful character whose basics inflicts high depletion, especially his blue lasers and beam saber.
His "weakness" is that he is a slow character. But seeing as he can walk through anything and has long range in his moves, it's not much of a weakness to be honest.

---- On the character select screen, Psyco Mk-III does not have a dedicated portrait image.
---- In 2-player games, on the versus screen, Psyco Mk-III does not have an image. Instead, it's blank.
---- Despite being a non-selectable character, you can actually complete Story Mode with Psyco Mk-III. However, the ending image is of another character, and there is no dialogue in the text box.
===== About Gundam: The Battle Master =====
This is a very good mech/robot fighting game, the 2D graphics are excellent and the sprites are animated really well. The gameplay is good, with plenty of variety in moves. Due to the large sprites and high amount of animation, the game runs at 30fps.
The soundtrack is well-composed and is of the techno music genre, which is typical of what you would find in a Gundam-related mech/robot fighting game.

this is genuinely freaky. i feel like i'm watching some wierd alternate universe gundam where i reconize none of the characters.
The game that started it all. Before there was Battle Assault, there was The Battle Master. Pretty much plays nothin' like its sequels. I already went into depth as to what the Psyco Gundam Mk. III is
I always thought battle assault & battle master is the exact same game.
It's great unit in Battle Master/Assault Series but when it coming to G Generation games... It's completely garbage unit(I'm rather turn my Psycho MkII into Psycoro Gundam instead to MkIII)

It is interesting that Battle Master 1 has different gameplay mechanics and even different animation frames and moves (at least one alternate beam weapon attack and beam saber melee). It seems it is also much smoother in framerate as well. I wish they had just ported this over instead of the weird mismash we get in Battle Assault 1.
@@OtaconNachos Well it was before Gundam Wing came out in the US. They probably gave us Battle Master 2 because for whatever reason, they put in Hydra from G-Unit as the final boss (even though all of the other MS and MA were still UC only) and just rolled with it

One thing i loved about this version is, you are the actual Maria piloting her Gundan and everybody has a unique interaction/quote with her, such a awesome detail they removed from battle master and battle assault

When I was a kid, I thought that MS pilots in Gundam Battle Masters are children from UC characters. But they're from alternate universe, except for Maria who actually original pilot of Psycho Gundam Mk III

Yes. This was the original basis for the Battle Assault games before the sequel was localized
