  • In a comprehensive discussion on faith and humility, Rabbi Yaron Reuven emphasizes the profound impact of pride on one’s spiritual life, particularly highlighting the tragic story of Nadav and Avihu from the Torah. These two, despite their noble intentions and deep knowledge, allowed ego to guide their actions, ultimately leading to their untimely death.
Their story serves as a powerful lesson on the dangers of arrogance and the importance of submitting to divine will and wisdom. The Rabbi further illustrates how genuine faith and trust in God (Bitachon) require humility, a quality that enables true spiritual growth and adherence to Torah teachings.

Born in Netanya, Israel, Rabbi Yaron Reuven began his American Dream as a little boy, when his family immigrated to the United States. He went from a newspaper boy at the age of 10, to a well-known self-made Wall Street multimillionaire by the age of 23. During his time in Wall Street, he owned his own private brokerage firm, a hedge fund, and an international insurance agency. He was featured on CNBC, Bloomberg and Chinese NDTV due to his success in the financial industry.
At age 26 he faced a 7-year battle for his life when a simple surgery went wrong. From that moment his life would never be the same. This moment marked the start of a series of miraculous events and an exciting pursuit of truth, ultimately resulting in Rabbi Reuven renouncing his lofty position and success in Wall Street, after 16 years, to become a full-time KIRUV rabbi. His Teshuva story is sure to catch the heart of every listener.

Kvod haRav, can you please provide clear sources for justifying lashon hara on the specified issues as you mention (for example if 3 or more people know or even ch"v chillul Hashem), and that the Chafetz Chaim's conditions for speaking in such terms does not apply here? I think the audience deserves to know considering the severity of lashon hara. Thank you.

Hello. I learned the Chafetz Chaim specificially with my Rav in Yeshiva this year. He said the exact same thing when reading from the Chaftetz Chaim and explaining it. These halachos are found in the first section of Sefer Chafetz Chaim.
As far as the simple permission to speak against a heretical teacher, that kind of goes without saying. But, just like there's permission to warn people about a murderer, certainly it's the same over here. Also, it's a sakanas nefashos, literally, and in such a case anyway one looks at it, he's allowed to in fact violate the Torah. Honestly I don't specifically know in the Sefarim that mention hilchos Leshon HaRa about it, in fact a friend not so long a go told me a main idea that's spoken in the Chafetz Chaim about it, whatever. But I'd personally like to see that also. But then again, I trust Rabbi Reuven of course
