- If we had to start over in our shop what 5 pieces of equipment would Dad have to start with? Is it a Mill, a welder, or something more basic? Even with 50 years of hot rod and car experience Dad had to think long and hard on that question!
This week I FORCE Dad into some more camera time where I pick his brain for you. Not only do we discuss the top 5 tools we dig into the fact that he did have to start from scratch 20 years ago. Hear the story of what started Freeman Hot Rod Repair full time WAY before there was ever a Shift Points RUclips channel!

@@rdelphia we really appreciate you taking the time to watch it! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
The best way to know what tools you need to work on your car is to go out and work on your car…
@@topcat5988 that's very true. No matter how many you have you WILL need more!
Good video, really enjoyed it.
@@1320quick we really appreciate that! Thanks very much for watching!
My grandpa was the blacksmith. His brother and him made every tool they used
My grandpa was a long time welder and he built a lot of tools (some seen in the video here). It was a different time back then that's for sure!
@shift_points they didn't have money back then so they had metal welding and he did a lot of hammer welding too but they had to do what they had to do
@timferguson8654 that's exactly right!
Great video, would like to know how many squarebody C10's and S10 springs that have been done on that press! One of my first shop pieces was a good air compressor...but new battery powered tools have almost made air tools obsolete though.
We really appreciate that! I'm glad you enjoyed it! It is a honestly ridiculous number 😂 hundreds easily. An air compressor was his actual first choice but I told him the same thing. Now with these battery tools we don't use it nearly as much! Crazy how that happens.
@@shift_points yes, my compressor is now reserved for painting and sandblasting so it still feels useful, lol...but rarely gets to crack bolts now. Mike did a squarebody for me in about 97, with the go to big block front springs!
