    Vile can be defeated with a cheat code or hack.
    What normally happens is that Vile starts with 127 HP, and if you manage to reduce it to 0... it resets to 48 endlessly.
    Disable this, and with no defeat animation, Vile disappears immediately on hitting 0 HP, and X is stuck on that screen because that Vile is considered an enemy, not a boss (to prevent the Boss HP bar from activating). There is no way to end the level/restore scrolling, because Vile does not advance the scene, X does by getting stunned which is why it happens that way both times.

    • @Superluigi881
      @Superluigi881 10 месяцев назад +5

      It's interesting how the psp remake handled this fight very differently. Vile is a normal boss that you have to beat or he just kills you. You lose in the cutscene after reducing his health bar to 0. And the second forced loss doesn't even happen at all. He just ambushes you.

    Actually Fargus isn't really anywhere close to impossible. As we saw, Marcus is able to damage him while facing an around 50% hitrate with a sword. It's theoretically possible for the RNG to roll in the players favor enough for Marcus to kill him. The devs obviously recognized this and attached a game over condition to the map if Fargus happened to die so as to avoid a pretty obvious softlock.

    • @skaparinn
      @skaparinn 11 месяцев назад +23

      Not to mention there's an arena on the map and by that point the player should have gotten a hero crest and a knight crest. So it's possible to grind a very dodgy unit like Guy or a very bulky one like Oswin to a really high level and have them beat Fargus pretty reliably. Would take a lot of time though

    • @jacobmorris6357

    • @qactustick
      @qactustick 11 месяцев назад

      It doesn't necessarily have to be a softlock even if you defeat him. Although I suppose plot armor isn't something that's common in Fire Emblem, especially the older games.

    • @TheodoricEichen
      @TheodoricEichen 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@qactustick What are you talking about? Killing him is an instant game over. I've done it. Just attacking him once already makes that mission impossible to complete, afaik, since the goal is to get to him and talk to him without turning him into an enemy.

    • @qactustick
      @qactustick 11 месяцев назад

      @@TheodoricEichen I was talking more hypothetically, in that the developers could have set it up so that he 'retreats' or something should you happen to defeat him, rather than having him die. It's only a game over because they set it up to be one, but they didn't HAVE to have him die if you defeat him. That's what I was saying.

    When you think about it, the whole Vile thing loses a lot of weight because the reason behind X being able to lay out Vile in Sigma 1 isn't because X got stronger, it's because he got bailed out by Zero again and Vile got weaker.

    • @mightypancake2211

      well Zero helped by getting rid of the ride armor that Vile was using. Which in the SNES version is invincible wither cause there is no HP attached or regen, or whatever the case. Played Tales of Destiny on PS1 when I was a kid, and used some sort of infinite health or damage cheat. There's a fight relatively early on that you're supposed to lose - I don't know if it's legitimately possible/realistic to beat it or not, but if you do beat it (as I did with my cheat) you basically get a short story about the events that unfold over, and the game ends.
    It was pretty cool, though I hope no-one who beat it (legitimately or otherwise) got fooled into thinking that was how the game was supposed to go. I believe it was fairly obvious - I mean I immediately knew I was supposed to lose after seeing it - but I can't speak for everyone else that would've seen it. 😛

    There was a Yu Yu Hakusho game where you fight the main villain (younger Toguro) twice when you are "intended" to lose. Once as the protagonist Yusuke, once as Genkai, his mentor. He is actually beatable both times. Doing so as Yusuke, you actually get a reward, and the story still makes sense because Toguro isn't at full strength and was just threatening him. An early instance of "this is just x% of my power".
    Genkai cracks me up though. She is supposed to die in that fight. Winning as her, you get nothing but some bullshit message about "the path of victory is a lonely one" and she just fucks off from the rest of the story.

    (Spoilers ahead, you've been warned) The reason Vile in Megaman X is unbeatable is because in order to kill him, you first got to get him out of that mech suit,(or armored carrier as he calls it) which then gives him a life meter, and unfortunately Zero is the only one strong enough to do that but not until after you beat all eight bosses and get to Sigma's fortress. Just so you know, it's impossible to beat this game without power upgrades for X as the game gives you the blaster upgrade no matter what, and only through passwords can you beat the Chill Penguin and not get the leg upgrade BTW. However getting through the area after Viles second fight (and inevitable death) to reach the Boomer Kuwanger respawn fight without the boots to dash jump is NOT an easy task to do, but is doable with the Sting Chameleon's weapon and the blaster upgrade.

    It technically is possible to make someone strong enough, you have the ability to gain a lot of experience on one of your Cavaliers in the paralogue chapters, and there's an arena in the same map, of course they had to anticipate players grinding selves up to endgame power levels. It's a natural rule of Fire Emblem and why some of the boss difficulty in later games came from the skills they have.

      I did similar levels of grinding in Radiant Dawn. To get Meg usable, I had to top her off with swords, get the enemy count down to one laguz, and then stuck the two of them together with the enemy next to a heal jar so he wouldn't die. Not only did I get Meg from unsalvageably low-level to promoted in her first chapter, that process also get Laura (as her healer) all the way to tier three.

      @@Megamean09 precisely, a lot of the time, the reason why you move on is because you just ran out of time or they just got a little bit too strong to keep grinding, if they don't plan for it, it'll happen.

    So it is in fact possible to beat the tutorial Feral Chaos fight legitimately, just extremly tedious and frustrating. Chaos is set to the hardest ai difficulty, is set to level 130 (unobtainable by the player), and the player is stuck as a level 1 Lighting. At level 1, Lightning has 95 base bravery, which is what determines how much damage your HP attacks do. Chaos has close to 120,000 health, meaning you'd need to land close to 1263 hits with your HP attacks ( or do a few bravery combos to boost your damage output.) There are several problems with this. One, Chaos has enough starting Bravery to one shot you with any hp attack. Two, this version does not have his summon that you normally can trick into freezing your bravery at a high number. Three, all of level 1 Lightning's base HP attacks have a long startup and a long end-lag, meaning if you whiff you will die instantly. And lastly, 4, you can only access this version of the fight once when you start a new save file, meaning if you want to try again you would have to play through the tutorial again. There are clips online of people attempting the challenge and as far as I know, the closest anyone has ever gotten to beating him legitimately got him down to just below half before getting unlucky and dieing. Shit is brutal, if only because it's entirely possible.

      There was a video several years old of someone defeating this tutorial F.Chaos. It was done via save states, though. The video would have been impressive if legit, but it was not. Still that's when we learned nothing special would happen.

    the underrated, yet a game that almost nobody knows, sushi strikers: the way of sushido has a unwinnable first boss encounter which is your final boss of the game, i guess.
    just like in cookierun kingdoms, you will disrespectfully get obliterated by that boss with no effort at all.
    and also final fantasy ii (a japanese-only nes game which later then released on game boy advance and then links altogether) which you will encounter an enemy which overpowers you at the start of the game and instantly kills your party bit by bit.
    please help me if you have ideas to overcome and defeat this unwinnable first boss fights.
