I want to drive my 2016 Subaru Sti now 🙂. Nice install, looks great and I absolutely love the sound of your exhaust thank you for the demo.
I feel like out of every STI/WRX ive seen I dream of building one like yours. Clean nothing to showey going on just a nice clean mature look. Picking up my 2021 WRX Friday, excited to join the family
Sounds beautiful. Perfect tone for the ELH first time I’ve hear and equal length setup sound good 👍🏻
Had mine installed at AWE Tuning, got to see their shop and manufacturing process. RT Tuning is also right next door! Hope you're enjoying the system, I know I am!
sounds great man! perfect note for ELH.
Sounds great man! Perfect rasp, barely any really but just perfect.
Sounds so good, i think this is it ! Perfect sound!
Sounds excellent. Glad you’re happy!
Sounds awesome! Had mine on for a few days now and love the sound too. I just have stock WRX that I’ve only started the tuning journey. Looking forward to a new j pipe and tune to enhance the sound.
Sounds freaking awesome man! Stuck between the tomei and the aww touring now. Awesome vid. Great info
Tomei sounds good for sure, I personally and just not a big fan of single exits on the va chassis. On previous gen’s it works, but the quad tip on these cars looks best imo.
I didn’t know about this exhaust until after I already installed my ETS quiet. I think I’ll pick this one up at some point. Car sounds good 👌
patiently waiting for mine, sounds amazing
AWE for the win!! Sounds amazing my guy!
Just went with the Cobb gesi catted non resonator thanks to your video on catted vs catless and I also needed to pass emissions. I currently have a invidia r400 and thinking about this AWE now 😩😩😩… love the sound
Thanks for the exhaust hanger/hoseclip tip!
best sounding exhaust for this car imo
That's why AWE ranks high on everyones list. The minute I heard mine for the first time I knew it was the right sound.
That sounds insane omg bro that idle tho
Keep up the great work! You inspire me!
Just order mine for my 21 sti can’t wait!!!
I love it! Can’t wait for mine to come in
This might be the one I go with this sounds great thanks I was looking for a great sound and this one sounds great
AWE FTW!! I have the track exhaust and love it!
Sounds perfect 🥰
Great video dude, glad you loved the AWE
Man. That sounds amazing!
one of the cleanest sti’s on youtube. up there with eddienuffsaid and danny from thirdshift
I appreciate it!
I have the same grin and smile every time I get on it with the AWE Track on my FA20! It’s such a great sounding exhaust for either the FA or EJ!! 👍🏽👍🏽🔥
Similar to ETS Extreme!? For the FA20
@@kevinmucha5996 ETS Extreme w/o a resonator is probably one of the loudest exhaust setups, aside from a custom straight pipe. The AWE Track is loud, but it’s a more refined tone, it’s the only way I can describe it.
@@2bigfeet1986 cuz mine I don’t feel is loud at cruising Rpm
@@kevinmucha5996 Are you still stock J Pipe? Even with an aftermarket J pipe, cruising speed is pretty tame… until you got WOT!
Looks and sounds great! I just bought the same black tip touring exhaust for my 21 wrx. Looking forward to having a bit louder deeper tone.
That sounds very nice!! If my Tomei becomes too loud after I do your setup, I'll probably get this one!!
It was far too loud for me, fingers crossed you like it
Zero fitment issues with Grimmspeed catback, perfect fitment our of the box.
Been waiting for this one. Nice tip on the hose clamp. I know some use zip ties. I like the hose clamp method though. Okay, had to go back and listen to the Cobb again. Ya, I love the AWE. Hell, as soon as you turned on the car with it, I knew. It has a fantastic tone. Plus I love the black tips. Great job Chris.
Yes, you can tell right away the overall volume on the cold start right away. You can actually see me walk by with my shoulders shrugged because it was late and I wasn't expecting it to be that loud haha. Definitely the winner in my book. The Cobb ti sounded very, very good. However, the awe touring is more what I was after. The cobb vs awe video I'm in the process of editing showcases both exhaust tones very well.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Yeah you can def tell with the volume. It has such a nice sweet sound to it. Very impressed. The Cobb is a very nice sounding exhaust but that AWE rumble is soothing. Looking forward to the comparison video.
I think I’ll be selling my cobb SS next summer..haha love the AWE touring sound. Thanks for the video.
Great Video. I like the staggered tips, may do that with mine 😁
Sounds so good.
Its crazy how much switching to ELH's changed the tone. It sounds exactly like how my tbe FA wrx sounded
In person, it sounds very very different than an fa.
Like the hose clamp tip!
Wow so much better...so sick. I want one.
Sounds crisp perfect for ELH
Can't wait to pick my STI
Sounds so good!!! Much better than the Cobb
That Cobb exhaust is beautiful
Sure is! Definitely the best looking exhaust out there for our cars.
Sounds clean 😍👍
Dang 9 setups, respect to your Exhaust OCD 😎
I try not to go with the masses and buy one thing and say it’s the greatest in the world. Everyone is different and sound is so subjective. Trying and experiencing is the best way to form a valid opinion, so testing like this is the only way to find that perfect note. It’s worth it in the end.
I knew you would love it
Dude, sounds awesome! Fits you to a T!
I noticed I had a leak too when I installed the Cobb titanium exhaust at the mid pipe/DP area with a normal gasket. I bought the Remflex gasket and it sealed right up 🙏🏼
What a nice car dude
Much better love it ‼️
I've had the Grimmspeed Limited Series downpipe along with the AWE touring on my 19' STI for over 14 months and I gotta say that it is the best thing out there in my opinion. Loud when you want it to be and absolutely NO drone whatsoever. I love my black tips, I just wish they didn't chip after a while but small price to pay. Great video man!
And the blowpop is a plus.
I’m stock and I get the pops bangs too if I downshift just right. AWE: no 1 exhaust for EJ motors
I have it on my 09 wrx sti hatch it's pretty loud on a build engine and bigger turbo.
I have the same setup on my 17 sti and I absolutely love it
Came down to this and Borla. I went Borla and extremely happy. This is def my second option if I switch it up.
AWE is definitely a solid choice. I have the track edition on my STI. I think I’d have to get the touring mufflers if I upgrade my downpipe. It would be too loud!
nah bruh, Invidia R400 is the way to go
i got the Touring also, best investment. Little to no drone!
Def worth the extra $$$.
Sound good 👍🏼
I’ve been wanting to keep my Sti stock with just my awe touring, but this video is making me want to go catted dp / elh haha
Do it. You won’t regret it. Best thing I’ve done to this car hands down.
Great vid, for the life of me couldn’t get my tips as far in as yours on my touring.
Are you in stock Downpipe? If so, that’s why.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Yes I am , thank you , I thought there was something I was doing wrong lol.
Yes. I’ve found the stock pipe sits back a bit more pushing the whole exhaust out more.
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks man good advice, I thought maybe there were differences with the 20,21 sti and AWE didn’t account for it👍
Exhaust sounds great it's definitely a winner! Curious which Motul 5w-40 you'll be running. My tuner recommends the Sport Ester but I know there's a bunch of different ones
Not quite sure. I’ll have to ask my shop.
Sounds niiice!
Was looking into rk titanium track edition, I have tomei right now with Cobb catted dp waiting on my killer b headers. Yours sound nice tho. 🔥
I went for the rk over awe, just waiting for it to be delivered, after owning a tomei I love the sound of titanium exhausts
I painted my entire Awe exhaust black so not only the tips are black but so is the rest of it 🤾
Solid!
Always a good day when Chris uploads. Been looking forward to this video. How would you compare the AWE touring with the ETS Extreme Catback? I'm thinking to get one with a resonator, but I am considered about drone and tone (deeper is better). Would appreciate an update as you break in the AWE
I can’t comment on the ets as I never tried it. I would imagine the ets resonated is slighter loud or around the same due to the size of the muffler. There are so many that are so close that the sound is negligible. I will be sure to update in future videos on the break in.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Appreciate it! I'll be looking forward to it
Damn, I didn't expect to like the Cobb better. The AWE sounds great at idle, and the black tips are ace. Too loud for me, though.
I agree
The cobb sounds fantastic for sure. Sound is super subjective so someone's loud can be another persons quiet (or vise versa). But yes, the awe is definitely louder. I would say the Cobb is a 4/10 and the awe touring is a 8/10 in terms of volume.
On week 11 for waiting (in production).. patiently waiting
Worth the wait!
It’s always nice to try something different but may I ask you if invidia r400 was on your list ?
I love mine! It’s quiet if you don’t have a downpipe but once you got the whole combo together is pure music to your ears.
The r400 is probably the most requested exhaust people ask me to try. It’s one I wanted to try next, but I’m pretty sold on the awe now. It has no drone and can scream at wot, but be super tame when you need it. I know the r400 is an exhaust that has a ton of drone. Plus, I don’t think I could go back to no slip joint exhausts. Less gaskets and leaks to worry about.
Absolutely love this setup! Thinking about getting this for mine. What website did you get it from?
Subimods!
as much as i love my tomei, AWE is one i would trade for or swap out for
What Wheels do you have? Love everything you have done to it.
Thanks! Wedssport Tc105x.
I have the awe touring on my 19 sti too I couldn't be happier with it. I went with the black diamond tips myself. How much heavier do you think it is over the Cobb ti?
Cobb is probably around 25 lbs.
Beautiful exhaust! Why upgrade radiator?
Better cooling for the hotter summer days. Would benefit more with it if I tracked the car, but doing all the reliability mods to keep this motor happy and healthy.
Been following this series, any particular reasons why you're not considering the ETS Muffled as an option? looks like a really solid exhaust, welds looks better than AWE and V-BANDS!!
I’ve considered the ets resonated as well. Was one I was going to try actually. Maybe down the road I’ll snag one and see what I think.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Gotcha, quite a few options to go through. Prefer black tips myself, ETS actually just release a "stealth" tip option for their exhaust. I think going muffled and resonated mid-pipe w/ ETS will probably have roughly the same sound level that you're looking for, just somethin to think about haha!
Sounds awesome man! I'm currently rocking Invidia Dual N1 and want to drop the sound level just a bit. Would swapping to these bad boys do the job you think?
The awe touring is still decently loud without the drone. I never ran the n1 so I can’t comment on the overall volume.
@@Scoobyfreak86 That was fast! Thanks man just subbed haha. Just looking at the size of the mufflers I would have to imagine its a little quieter than the N1's. I may pull the trigger on these.. the other one I was looking at was the Borla S type but I noticed it didn't have a resonator which led me more towards the AWE.
Borla would be much quieter for sure.
Sounds sooo good, would love to trade my q300 against this one...but living in germany got his cons. Definetly not legal here in Germany :-(
What wheels are these. super clean
ruclips.net/video/u7tglnKXvl0/видео.html
Sounds amazing dude!!! I have been subed for a long while now, and have been wondering how do you afforded all of this? Like job/ salary/ saving habits. If that’s too personal I understand!! Love the content man!!!🙌
Regardless of salary, he's had the vehicle for over 4 years - that's a long time to save on top of everything else. Be smart with money - two household incomes help, save monthly ($250 monthly invested x 4 years), sell what you don't need, self installs and maintenance saves a lot of money on 2 x vehicles. Make a grocery list around items on sale. Avoid bad habit like daily coffees shops, cigarettes and frequent alcohol and always live below your means (mortgage, utility, property taxes, etc.). Keep it real!
@@Martin944turbo that’s totally true man!! gotta be smart with money these days!! thanks for the advice!
This is something not many people realize. They stumble upon my channel, see my car, and think I did all this in a month. It took time to get it to this point. Steady job for family (the important stuff) and find a side hustle to support your hobbies. Don’t mix those two up.
Thanks Chris! I'm still in love with the Q300 and the Titanium Cobb. I'd have to hear this one in person. I did watch the entire video and have a question about the idle sound after a cold start - would it bother neighbours at 6 am? Cheers, M.
It’s pretty loud on cold start. If you are worried about neighbors, stay with the q300 or Cobb.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Q300 it is, thanks - appreciated. I live in an affluent neighbourhood with alot of young kids, babies :D
@@Martin944turbo I think I might be keeping the Q300 as well then after reading this!
@@BarbWaltersMusic I seriously am convinced that the Q300 is the best of both worlds (quiet when you need it to be and perfect tones on demand).
@@Martin944turbo Yup I've actually had it 3 times before and i just got another 21 STI and grabbed one immediately. I tried to get the AWE but it was out of stock lol!
How do you get more turbo noise. I’m stock can barely hear turbo very muffled in these cars
Intake and Downpipe
if you get the chance could you compare this one to the invidia N1?,
I don't think this is an option I would try. I am just not a fan of the dual muffler look.
hey sir, wanna ask about the car seat for your kids in the sti. what are those?
Graco extend2fit
Love those rims what are those?
ruclips.net/video/u7tglnKXvl0/видео.html
How do you feel about the 4inch tips? Too big or like the look?
The black hides them a bit. I feel the chrome would have stuck out too much and look a little too big.
Does your rear diffuser cover the exhaust ports/cut-outs or is that a separate part?
Separate piece. My diffuser only is between the exhaust tips.
Is that the 2.5 or 3 gasket? I got a awe track coming
3
Very nice , 2 questions : do you think it will be too loud for daily drive ? And the tips will melt the bumper ? I like to keep my car stock as much I can , but I want a exhaust lol .. Thanku , your car looks so beautiful
Sound is subjective. One person quiet can be another persons loud. I daily drive mine and it’s perfect. No drone, quiet when you need it, loud when you want it. The tips do but up against the plastic, but mine were already melted a bit from previous setups. I did trim the plastic up since, so it no longer touches.
@@Scoobyfreak86 so AWE got a nice humble , I like to be more unique , that’s why I’m between AWE, Borla or Cobb , everyone has invídia, and another question . I just got wrx rims with tires (18) do you think I’ll have clearance for the brembo brakes on my 2020 STI ? By the way your car looks really nice
Awe is louder than both the Cobb and borla. Those are both in the tamer side
The wrx wheels will not clear the brembos.
@@Scoobyfreak86 oh no, I’m in trouble with the summer tires
Maybe I'm missing it, but what type of rotors and brake setup is that?
ruclips.net/video/SrGMOB8moHc/видео.html
I have the CP-E Austenite axle back for my 2020 WRX. What is your opinion on that exhaust. The only place I've ever found it was on Subispeed. Also CP-E only has axle backs. Is there any sort of "universal" downpipe so I could essentially make it a cat back?
I’ve actually never heard of it, so I can’t comment on it. A catback is the midpipe back. Changing the Downpipe would make it a turbo back.
@@Scoobyfreak86 yes. Sorry. I meant mid pipe
What j pipe and downpipe are you running with the AWE Touring?
Grimmspeed limited catted downpipe and killer b el headers
should have tried the borla
Can’t make everyone happy! Would be happy to make a video if someone wants to donate one 😁
@@Scoobyfreak86 I think it’s dope
Just got these the other day for a steal and for some odd reason I have a minor leak on the vband clamps used to connect the pipes together. I have tried tightening them and ensuring they are covering the entire markings on the pipes. I went as far as purchasing new clamps to see if that would fix the problem but that didn't work. Anyone else experience this?
I would check 2 things. Use an impact to tighten the clamps down as much as possible. Doing it by hand sometimes it not enough. Also, check the flanges to makes sure they aren’t dented or misaligned.
If keeping the OEM down pipe and replace the catback with Awe touring only, will the sound quality be the same nice as yours?
It’ll still sound very good. But it will be different. I’m also running el headers so that alone changes the note a lot.
@@Scoobyfreak86 thanks a lot 🙏
I wonder what this would sound like with 1 awe muffler and 1 awe track installed doing a mismatch
Someone did it with the el midpipe and switch back. Sounded good.
But i do have something coming that I think you’ll enjoy 👍🏻
Will you be selling whichever exhaust you don't end up keeping?
Cobb is already sold.
Hey quick question, had a shop install my awe touring on my Sti, and no matter how hard they tried they could not get it to where one tip on each side didn’t touch the inside back of the diffuser. Should I be worried about it? I don’t care if it melts a bit inside just don’t want visible melting.
I had this issue and a big reason why I ended up selling this exhaust. Had a lot of fitment issues.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Which exhaust system did you end up settling with?
Ets
What do you think about Borla? I just got 2021 sti
Good sounding exhaust. On the quieter side. Has a deep tone to it. I would compare it to the Cobb ss.
Great thank you. I learned a lot from your videos. Thanks I guess I will get AWE Touring
What about the greddy rs
There are a ton others I would love to try, but when I find something I like and am after, I have a hard time getting rid of it. The awe touring just checked all the boxes for me. Loud at wot, quiet when cruising, no rasp, and no drone. It’s the best of everything.
Do you know if the exhaust comes with a 3” donut gasket?
I installed mine but don’t remember if it came with a donut gasket? I installed it with a regular gasket and it’s leaking.
I went over this in the video
@@Scoobyfreak86 I watched the video. My question is if it’s a 3” or 2.25” donut gasket. I’ll have to order one since mine didn’t come with one. I’m hoping it’s a 3” so there is no restriction between downpipe and catback.
I am not to sure if the size, but assuming it’s the stock donut size to work with the OEM Downpipe.
Sounds good but I still believe the R400 beats it.. lol not hating tho, love it
Looks great, has some great spool-down sounds... though I still prefer a deeper, richer note... but hey - if everyone liked the same thing, it'd be a mighty boring place. :-)
How’s the droning on the inside?
No drone at all
👏🏿🤙🏿
61k 😂😂😂 I agree get something else for that money
I am installing my AWE Touring on my 20 STI but I am getting leaks by the downpipe area. I have a Grimspeed DP, not the limited version. I used the Grimmspeed “3” gasket but it isn’t helping, do you have any pointers?
You need to use the donut gasket as well to seal it.
@@Scoobyfreak86 Sounds Good! So you used the Donut Gasket + the Grimmspeed gasket?
@@Scoobyfreak86 I saw something in Grimmspeed selling an Aftermarket downpipe to oem subaru catback extension. Not sure if that is what you are using?
I don’t have an OEM Downpipe
@@Scoobyfreak86 Sorry for the confusion, so the only thing you used to seal the Grimmspeed DP to the awe touring catback was the donut gasket + Grimmspeed 3 Inch Gasket?
