I LOVE this track. I actually popped on to grab the link to send to an oboe player that I just met this weekend that played during Easter mass. I just love the clarity of the instrument. How it just beautifully cuts through with it's clarion tone. Especially in this track how it just dances across the melody.
I just watched the movie again today and was reminded of the beauty of this score. This and "Meet Joe Black" are my favorites from Thomas Newman. "Road to Perdition" is a close second. Ugh they tug at your heart strings. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

He did also did The Shawshawk Redemption, and Green Mile. I own the CD of Meet Joe Black and play it in the car often. Thomas Newman is my favorite composer.

Absolutely, very prolific time for him. His music matured through the years into something else (older and wiser - still beautiful), but this time period and the oboe always felt to me like a raw nerve being stroked.
This movie should be watched by every mother and 16 to 18 yr. old daughter..It is a beautiful coming of age tale with wonderful actors, acting wonderfully .....Thomas Newman is another genius in an extended family of genius composers..beautiful theme song featuring a rare oboe duet
