Brilliant starting cartridge for any deer stalker, very versatile cartridge 58gr-105gr factory loads. Common in gunshops and rifle availability too did get some quality roe bucks with this cartridge always be a favourite
We've used the .243 with 95 grain Nosler Ballistic tip on Western mule deer for decades, out to 300 yards. You have to hit bone to put them down without running. You can double lung a big mulie and he can stay on his feet for far too long, causing you to have to shoot again. But put one through his front shoulders and he drops right there. You usually get a bit of lung and he expires with one shot. But, if you do need a follow up shot, at least he's not heading into the cedar breaks where only the coyotes can find him.

Nice to see some positive comments on the .243 - it's had a tough time of late

100 grain PSP can have 900 ft lbs (legal ft lbs at 100 yds in Nebraska) energy at 400 yards for whitetails.
Afantastic caliber for deer hunting and slightly larger animals. Thanks.
My favorite cartridge for mule deer … it’s a remarkable caliber … the velocity is key I believe
As you say the perfect foxing calibre .I use the Hornady 58 grn Vmax for foxing . Flat, very fast and extremely accurate !
My go to for foxes loading with speer 70grn tnt hollow point
Great caliber and with a Barns 85 gr. You have something for most big game out to…two hundred yards.
Deer stalkers not balliticians, but good practical field advice.
