  • In this video we will show you how to setup and run the seed coating machine.
Our Open Source Seed Coating Machine, is a system created with accesible technology, which covers the needs of a small and medium scale seed coating project.
Is composed by an Arduino, an air compressor, a concrete mixer, and the water and powder micro pulverization systems.
Documentation of the machine available in:

Ahh this might explain some of the problems I was having with my seed ball experiments, thanks for the inspiration!

    Well done guys!
I have worked with seed coasters.
I have one suggestion for you. You could add materials which absorb water and holds water such as pectin ( like basil seeds) and hydrogel. This way seeds can germinate and grow easier.

Thank you, yes, we actually use SAP as water retention polymer.

I tested it with pure clay, the shell got cracks and just crumbled. Can I add something to the clay powder or how can I solve the problem?

First, if you use seeds that swell, they need to be in water first to avoid grow after the coating and break the coat.
To the clay you can mainly add binder, like arabic gum, or adiitionally fibres, like coconut fiber to have all parts together even when cracks.

Only if there was a machine to plant these seedballs properly fast at scale and water these seedballs once in while. Maybe if the seedball was made by adding manure of local species like goats and cows, they may not eat it. #savesoil

If you use animal dung, like goat or lamb droppings you may also introduce unwanted seeds in the mix.
