Important things I missed: "You didn't mention the ship's signature. This is the distance you are detectable on enemy sensors and seems to confuse a lot of people I have played with. The signature will increase when you enable shields (+10 km), arm torpedos (+10 km), or go above 4000 speed (5000 is +10 km)." - cgood511 "Nice summary Tribal. This game is a remake of a One man project from more than 4 Years ago. Would have to search for the name but i am certain. That game had multiple enemy sises + minefields. You could choose your ship to vary difficulty and had to relies on communications officer locating nukes to load from producing space stations to protect the sector. I hope that that games programmer is somewhat involved in this game and will port most ideas as well as get acknowledgement and compensation (his game had no drm so you could give it to friends easy to start a game section+ you couldn't play alone).
Playing now for three days going to sleep everyday after 2 am and still have to wake up at 6 and it is totally worth this is so but so fantastic, you completely forget you are in fact not inside the starship.
Nice summary Tribal. One thing I picked up from the rest of the Interwebs is that it is significantly quicker to scan individual systems (i.e. shields) and then target that system, than scan all the systems in one go. Depends what you are trying to achieve of course, but worth mentioning!
I remember the captain was jokingly saying I was useless during a fire fight so during a fire fight I dropped sheilds phasers and engine to as low as I could and routed power to overload the systems and I said are u sure? He screamed sorry and to turn everything back on lol
Just been playing my first online games. Hope I didn't suck too much as captain! Funniest moment was when I was explaining what I'd like each station to do by default. Engineer says, 'it's fine, I've played this game loads...' 'OK, well off we go then' says I, helm plots warp course, 'engage' says I... Nothing happens... At which point I ask if engineering (who apparently knew it all) would kindly charge the warp coils! :D
Good overview, I didn't find the tutorials all that tedious (and liked that they stayed in-universe: you're on a holodeck simulation of a bridge during the tutorials) but this is a good quick ramp for someone who wants to jump straight into missions. I have played about 6 hours of Bridge Crew so far, and I absolutely LOVE the game. They need to add more content (hint: Tribal will pay for Klingon ships, I will happily pay all of the monies for an Enterprise D bridge, but mostly they just need to add more diverse missions, which should be pretty straight forward.) More than most games, your experience will vary dramatically based on who you're playing with. I had a lucky quick match session over the weekend with 3 other players who were really role-playing and staying in characters while making tons of trek jokes and references, and it was one of the best experiences I've had in VR. The fact that the game allows cross-play between Rift, Vive, and PS4 players is huge-- it means it's one of the few games out there with plenty of players active most of the time. Great game, I hope they add more content over time.
Joseph Jones I'm hoping to meet some fellow trekkies in an online match, am about 2/3 way through STTNG Blu ray boxset as we speak having decided it's time to watch them all back to back! I'd actually quite like to have a Galaxy quest crew though... Never give up! Never surrender! :DD
Tribal I need to add to your Engineering guide. The second day I was playing I was actually playing with a DEV and he gave me a couple interesting facts about Engineering that should have been put into the tutorial of the game. The more power to Phasers does range but it also increases damage to all weapon systems yes even Torps it also increases the recharge rate of the phasers. Engine power not only boosts the speed but also boosts the turning rate of the ship you will come about extremely fast with rerouted power of five or 7600 speed. Shields max at 5.8 so when rerouting power do not fill up all of the pips, for a standard combat I will put 4,1,5 into regular power put 1-3 and 5 engine pips into shields and the 4th pip from engines into Phasers this gives 5.8 shields which can withstand a lot of damage, a enemy torp will only do 10% shield damage. This also gives the phasers 19.5 km range so almost the same as 5 standard power. The other thing you can do is once the enemy stops attacking you and turns away you can put the power to 5,1,4 and transfer all engine power to phasers which gives the most damage. If an enemy is behind you tactical can not shoot anyway so take all power from phasers and put it into engines and move pips from phasers to engines once the enemy is at a 90-45 degrees from front transfer everything back.
I did some testing with phaser damage... and I'm not convinced ranged gives a noticeable increase in damage. Against shields with 1 point, my phasers were doing 8% damage. At 5 points, my phasers were doing 8% damage. The only change came to non-shields: 1 point gave me 8% damage, 5 points gave me 10% damage. So against hull it was a 25% increase, but I'm not sure that's worth the loss of helm's ability to track and/or stay behind the target with engine power... I didn't test recharge rate though so maybe there's something there.
Recharge rate on phasers is the same no matter what, I did some testing on it also shield recharge rate after they go down is 1 min 15 sec or 75 sec no matter how much power you have in them do not drop shields unless you have to because they come back up to 100% at the 75 sec if you drop shields it takes an extra 10 sec for them to come up. Phaser increase does not seem to increase torp damage it seems the enemy changes their shield strength also so sometimes it will do 30 damage to their shields and sometimes it does like 14 same with phaser damage it varies on their shield strength. The best way I have seen is to do burst damage set a 5-1-4 overloading the phasers from engines and once tactical uses up all phasers energy change to a 1-4-5 moving all pip from phasers to engines and 1-3, 5 from engines to shields this gives helm 5000 and full protection to shields until tactical has full phaser power. You have to coordinate with tactical on this. Once he has full power set back to full power to phasers so he can do a burst damage again. We took out 5 enemy ships this way and are shields never went down.
5:33 "This is not unique to the engineering role (correct everyone but captain can use it), however before anyone can use it, engineering does have to scan the target." He misspoke. TACTICAL scans targets not engineering. Also, 9:17, "tactical will be unable to fire at it." Correct for phasers BUT Torpedoes can fire 360.
You didn't mention the ship's signature. This is the distance you are detectable on enemy sensors and seems to confuse a lot of people I have played with. You will have a normal signature of 10 km. The signature will increase when you enable shields (+10 km), arm torpedos (+10 km), or go above 4000 speed (5000 is +10 km).
Props for making the video. I got it since it was part of this months deals forn10 bucks. Anyway I like it so far. And I have to say the tutorials are well made, do take time but you need to go and do it. Shorting it isnt a option since it really covers the important stuff. Take care see ya on the bridge.
but its pointless knowledge because beam sucks in every possible way burst is better. i guess if you dont want to destroy the ship but you need to "knock out their weapons" you can try it but I have seen footage where they beamed a ships weapons to zero and they still fired. then they beamed their engines to zero and they were still flying around.
DJHeroMasta :[ It would appear so. At least it was just that and not one of the times I've gone full Steve Carell in Bruce almighty when I can't get words out right haha Abasraghtilyfarvrtopakrogehn!!
I am only laughing because Trekkie fans may want to slap you because you said Star Wars fans.. wearing a Trek shirt and reviewing a Trek Game. Other than that? Love this! I just bought it and I was struggling with how to figure out the controls as my nerd brain screamed at me.
You did a livestream of yourself playing the game right? Can't find it anywhere; is there any VOD of it out there at all? Would really love to watch it.
i'm always the best when it comes to tactical, i have been heavily RPing under the tactical systems, and i honestly think i could be a really useful tactical officer once i have the game...hell, once i get the VR kit, it's going to be really fun as hell to be immersed into the game :D
If you aren't afraid or don't like coop gameplay, it is. As Tribal said and I agree, the coop play was one of the most intense I ever experienced (EQ2 first dragon kill comes near). But I have to admit I was lucky to get good groups so far. It 20% the game and 80% the group you get. This game is a first shot what may come around the corner if VR stays (and I have no doubt it will) and they did a pretty good job. Could it have more features, better graphics, more missions? Hell yea but I don't regret a single euro.
Steam has a pretty rough return policy. Two hours of use max, with tutorial time counted against you. Lots of people would rather watch it on RUclips to give themselves more time to fairly review the game before they are unable to return it.
Not being able to lean back, let alone stand, is kinda annoying. How many times you see the Captain stand when giving orders? All the time! But you’re right, if your a Trekkie, buy this game!

You're probably talking about Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator.
@@eragonbaffel9518 in Artemis 2.0, you can play alone, but it is impossible above difficulty 4.
"If you are at all interested in Star WARS"... Brace for incoming Nerd Rage!
KrazyKain I caught that too I thought he would correct himself
KrazyKain is this not the Star Wars? But I loved this ship in Dr Who!
I errr....

Didn't you die? Lol
EASTER EGG if you are captain in multiplayer and you lean back on your couch or chair IRL, then your character will cross his legs in the game
Unsure if the "Star Wars" bit was intentional or not :-P
I bought this two days ago - this video is just what I needed, thanks!
I've already played as the engineer, and the rest of the game looks awesome.
Nice summary Tribal. One thing I picked up from the rest of the Interwebs is that it is significantly quicker to scan individual systems (i.e. shields) and then target that system, than scan all the systems in one go. Depends what you are trying to achieve of course, but worth mentioning!

Well technically because you did that your worse than useless your harmful to the ship
This was a very nice walkthrough, so much info! Will have to try this out sooner or later, now I feel somewhat prepared, cheers :)
Yay Im so excited - Trek fan since Mom went into labor during a TOS episode in 1968!

I need to build a thread ripper VM just for this with 4 vega cards to run 4 instances.
"Star wars...." the hell you say, nerd rage!
I, a star wars enthusiast, am quite interested in this virtual reality game.
could you do a tutorial for the original enterprise?
Enjoyed your tutorial ..Live Long and Prosper

How do you changed from Burst to Beam etc?
ruclips.net/video/HOrskREIM64/видео.html after the scan, you can choose one of the systems and that will change the phaser from burst to beam
cool cheers... I saw that, just couldn't figure out how he changed from beam to burst.

TribalInstincts, 😆 I got a good laugh just from reading that! I could only imagine! As always, great vid and thanks for sharing 👋.
It was so self explanatory he had to explain it twice.
Has anyone made any Galaxy Quest jokes for the pilot in navigation? "Petal to the metal captain"
I am only laughing because Trekkie fans may want to slap you because you said Star Wars fans.. wearing a Trek shirt and reviewing a Trek Game. Other than that? Love this! I just bought it and I was struggling with how to figure out the controls as my nerd brain screamed at me.
very helpful thank you :)
Nice video, I'm new to the game. Is there a way to play tactical in all solo missions?
Most important sections are definitely engineering and helm
I would rly like to See more of this.
Urban Gamer The game or this video style?
I mean particular the Game, but the Videostyle is great aswell.
You did a livestream of yourself playing the game right? Can't find it anywhere; is there any VOD of it out there at all? Would really love to watch it.
Oops, just made it public: ruclips.net/video/0-NaGebCQyI/видео.html

Can you do system intrusion or target a subsystem in the original enterprise?
Great Game. I would have liked you to look around a bit more.
pulsar: lost colony is also good
Thanks
I kind of want to get this but not at the current price.
Good info!.. still not sure if this is worth the pricetag.

Good video.
Ok I got it...is my life complete now? Its 50% off on Steam right now!!
Did he say star wars?
I mean statistically speaking if you are interested in Star Wars you’re probably also interested in Star Trek so it... sort of works out
Yes, you forgot how to do voice commands?
0:17 "if you are at all interested in starwars.." Bitch what? As he wears a startrek uniform lol
God! He said Star Wars!!!! AGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Not being able to lean back, let alone stand, is kinda annoying. How many times you see the Captain stand when giving orders? All the time! But you’re right, if your a Trekkie, buy this game!
nice mistake in the beginning you said Star Wars where you meant Star Trek.
I'm really confused why did he say Star Wars when he's reviewing star trek
They are really similar or he made a msitake
Interested in Star Wars!? 🤣

Are there any videos of people taking this game seriously or is it all just memes, screams and social flatulence?
Did you really say "if you are at all interested in Star "WARS" at 17 seconds?!?!? come on man - get the game right
How wrong you were on ubisoft giving a shit 😭😭😭
0:16 you called it StarWars...
You call yourself a fan?
