never knew safe jab OS is a thing at any fighting game. first time hearing it. thanks for sharing!
I think it’s rare in other games. This have has slower reversals than most 2D fighters

Aw shit, I was so close to figuring out the last one on my own, lol. I've been trying to do mash light into raging strike on defense occasionally but never thought about how it could turn into a brave counter if done like that.
Took me awhile to figure out this one too I was getting pretty frustrated at one point haha
You know your stuff. I enjoyed the previous game, but haven't tried vs yet for this.
Not sure I learned #2 & 3. What should I do? Random connections can be tricky for precision. Thanks for the vid.

Great tutorial Chris! One question, does the safe jab also work on crouching light or does it only work on standing Light?
It’s going to depend on the speed of your light normal
Had to double take the first one and then work out with visuals what those inputs were with technical inputs.
Sorry about that, I usually use simple input for this game bc sometimes it technical inputs don’t register properly
good stuff, not sure if this works with vaseraga but it will be a good step up if it does
It’s easier for some characters than others but I don’t play vaseraga so I’m not sure. Experiment in training mode and let me know what you come up with!
REALLY GOOD VID! I'm new to using OS but not precisely new to gran, so i get a little confused by your first example. How is it that buffering 6H+S into 2S leads into gran doing his 4L/214L rekka? Maybe there's something i'm missing.
This OS is the same for the whole cast, not just Gran. Basically, you get to cancel out the first special input ONLY if you get the red AA counter hit screen with another special but you can’t do this on a regular non-counter hit AA. That’s why the OS works

For the last OS, isn't it possible for an opponent who picked up on it to spotdodge the raging strike after blocking 2L?
Most likely, most option selects also have a weakness to them so you’ll have to use risk-reward assessment when using things like this
Is there a version of the safe jab OS that works for vaseraga? His cL is 2 fames slower than the usual 5f cL that almost everyone else has, and trying to do the OS as vaseraga ends up with the DP still hitting.
He could have some setups that allow for it but tbh I haven’t tried him out in training mode so I’ll have to get back to you on that
I'll lab later but maybe his 6f 2L could help, or maybe something with Soul Forge. 🤔
Why the spot dodge before the safe jab OS?
That’s specific to gran in this case, it’s a framekill to get a perfectly timed meaty
Hello and thanks for the video! 1 hour i'm trying safe jab and it didnt work once... was it patched or i'm just slow? what i'm doing is back then light then light very rapidly when opponent wakes up.
The best thing I could do is block DPs everytime and tech if it's a throw.
Seems like your timing is off, it wasn’t patched

@@Chris_F I understood!!!!!! the first light hit meaty before the wakeup, the earliest possible meaty. Then the back input blocks a fraction of second for the wake up DP and the second light continue the combo in case the enemy didnt DP wakeup, else you are in blockstring and safe! Thanks now to practice.

ok so i tested it and it actually does work on 9f dps (like 623m) with everyone EXCEPT metera, ferry, lancelot and narmaya (dawnfly stance). the jab needs 3 active frames and to be +6 on-block to be a true os

@njnjhjh8918 hard to answer in a comment but it’s just because of the way moves interact with each other plus the way inputs work. I *might* make a video about this once I’m finished my current batch
@@Chris_F I mean more of why they're allowed or perhaps viewed as necessary, but sure, what you said. I like to press buttons cause it makes stuff happen, knowledge checks are the enemy. Also the enemy: the corner and long combos. I'm here to dance, and my dance is called The Scramble and my partner is The Parry.

@sasasutumi so the idea is that you can time the jabs so that they will hit the opponent if they push buttons or block, but allow you to recover in time to block their reversal
