It is always exciting to see you share Japanese food culture with the world. It seems like when you try a really traditional regional dish Satoshi gets so proud in a really nice way as he shares his knowledge, I really enjoy that. I know it would not be a chewy but I think Italian pappardelle noodles would be similar length to these noodles, but not as thick. Another fun video, thank you both!
+MikeTheBarber63 so glad you enjoyed this video as well. I really enjoyed trying this noodle dish as I had heard about it but never tried it before. I love trying out regional cuisine as it varies so much depending on where you go in Japan. Next week I'm off to Osaka again!
My family and I tried Houtou Udon when we visited Yamanashi. I hear Yamanashi people eat it on the regular basis. They add all sorts of veggies grew on their gardens but cabbage and pumpkin are must. It was very, very, good. You guys' vid sure make me remember that hearty taste.
Sinichi & Satoshi, the noodles looked just a tad thicker this time, so I could see where they would be a touch more chewy and delicious! The miso vegetables looked amazingly savory! Yamanashi has it all going on! Thanks guys!
OMG I'm literally salivating right now!! Such a beautifully traditional dining room, and gosh that soup base looked so thick and tasty!! And that egg!! I could barely breath! 😋😋
Oh my goodness the day that I do try Ramen and of any kind I will be so ecstatically happy I wish I could have it with y’all over there it would be so awesome but I am so in love with the dishes especially that spoon I am so jealous of all the things that y’all haven’t Tokyo I wish we had that over here in the United States
*drool* oh wow what a dish, it's a life goal for me to enjoy an authentic japanese meal like this just once in a lifetime :D It looks sooooo delicious. Until then I try to cook it at home and thank you so much for showing the single ingredients and describing the taste and textures, this is something that books don't can tell and makes your videos so special, again thank you for this kinda "taking me with you" ^^// Oh and I see that this dish is a speciality from Yamanashi where also the grapes grows, I just love that even I didn't know much about Japan before watching your videos I will recognize this area with wonderful grapes and houtou-noodles :D Best greetings an wishes from Switzerland ^^
Those noodles look so incredibly delicious! Satoimo in English is mountain yam, isn't it? It's very good. That restaurant looks like a great place to eat. Thanks so much for the video!
+Le Genou de Claire actually the broth is very different from ramen. The original one that Satoshi had is more like a thick and rich miso soup broth. Mine was like a nice and rich curry soup. So good.
You should get some suppert by the prefectural governement because a lot of people wants to go to Yamanashi Pref.! I am always hungry after your video....
TabiEats oh really ?! i thought you would since it's one of dish you can have in Singapore ^^ served with mince meat, fried dried anchovies, soft boil egg with runny yolk and hot spicy sambal =D along with bowl of soup

Those noodles look so incredibly delicious! Satoimo in English is mountain yam, isn't it? It's very good. That restaurant looks like a great place to eat. Thanks so much for the video!
+Erin Uber Yes you are right. Mountain yam! It's strange that when I'm being filmed, I tend to forget lots of English words. So strange.
I would forget too! You both do a great job. Be well - enjoy your weekend.
Erin Uber happy weekend to you as well.
I love Japanese curry, and I love thick chewy noodles! Shinichi's bowl looked like my version of heaven
+Cassie Szczepanski You and me would be fighting over the bowl. hehe

+James W It's certainly our pleasure. Cheers!
I love Japanese noodle dishes!! Never had this one before but I want to try!

+mylesallen1970 Sure we will try this one day. And it would be our pleasure actually. I am already craving this!
Thank you and I am looking forward to it...:-D
Is the broth similar to ramen broth? It looks sooo yummy! Thanks for the video. I think satoimo is taro roots?
+Le Genou de Claire actually the broth is very different from ramen. The original one that Satoshi had is more like a thick and rich miso soup broth. Mine was like a nice and rich curry soup. So good.
I think Satoimo is called POI
+miyubail oh is satoimo the same as poi?
You should get some suppert by the prefectural governement because a lot of people wants to go to Yamanashi Pref.!
I am always hungry after your video....
+Frederick König haha! Agreed!
Hungry...
+joyjoyoo I'm always hungry. hehe
the noodle looks like pan mee noodle but this is wider =D
+June Osman ohhhh neer heard of pan mee before. Would love to try!
