The fact that *The Bad Guys* and *My Father's Dragon* weren't nominated is CRAZY! *Puss in Boots: The last Wish* Or *Seabeast* should win the Oscars this year.
I feel like the battle for the Oscar is most likely to be in Between Puss in Boots 2 and Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Turning red is good, but It's no match to the 2 movies I mentioned. And I can't really make a comment to Seabeast, since I didn't even knew abt that movie's existance until I saw It's nomination to the Oscar.
Amongst the movies I saw, I'd rank "Belle," "Turning Red," "Rise of the TMNT Movie," "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish," and "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio" as my top favorite 2022 animated films.
Puss in Boots was very surprising because I didn't expect much from the trailer. When I watched the movie in the cinema, I felt like i want to watch the movie again, which doesn't happen to me very much. And the villains were really cool. If someone were to ask me who was my favorite villain, I wouldn't be able to choose from all of them because I liked seeing every last one of them on the screen. I really liked the new animation style in this movie which reminded me of spider verse and anime. If anyone hasn't seen this movie yet, I recommend watching it, you don't even have to watch the first movie for it.
I agree, I watched the trailer about a week ago and was like "meh, not for me" But once I saw the death edits and stuff I watched it today and holy shit, best movie I've ever seen tbh
2022 was an incredible year for animation. I had so many favorites. Toro's Pinocchio was visually stunning. I really hope the Academy Awards shows this movie respect because it deserves all the praise even if I loved Tuning Red. My Father's Dragon has been my feel-good movie of last year or just recently because of me relating to Elmer's struggles. ❤❤❤❤

@@PaleoSteno Glad "Transformania" is not on F Tier; I didn't have a chance to see it yet, but I bet the D ranking was for being exclusive to Amazon. Also, I'd put the "Adventures of Buck Wild" movie on F Tier, due to a major disconnect with the continuity, as Collision Course never had Buck Wild return to the Dinosaur World at the end (unlike the third movie where he remained there)... and also because either of the two possums (or both of them, I don't remember exactly) got left behind to stay with Buck Wild. I'd also give the F Tier to "Turning Red" for giving parents a bad name, and making "A Goofy Movie" look like a masterpiece. Oh yeah, I'm putting Lightyear in F tier, because we already have a Buzz Lightyear movie, and it was a DTV film.
I didn’t really watch that many movies last year, but most of the ones I saw were animated. And including my biases, I’d have to put Puss in Boots, The Bad Guys, and Sonic 2 as my top three from what I’ve watched this year. Turning Red was a really good movie though, it surprised me.
I'm so happy to see Rise of the TMNT getting the attention and appreciation it deserves after the movie's release!! Hands down, one of my new favorite animated films of all time, easily. Here's hoping it wins the Annie award for best design, it totally deserves it! The Sea Beast is also one that really surprised me, I liked it so much more than I expected to. Visually, it's just a treat, and the writing is genuinely pretty good (despite the story being pretty generic and predictable.) It's one of those that I come back to often when I just want to watch something pleasant and enjoyable, but not too deep or high-energy.
For me, the easy best was also Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. I know I've seen the first one, but I have literally no memory of it. But this movie, somehow, some way, is know sitting at the top of my animated movie ranking.
I noticed that you didn't include Inu-Oh. That was my favorite anime movie of the year, maybe ever, but I think almost nobody watched it. It's directed by legendary anime director Masaaki Yuasa and without spoiling anything, is a really trippy and breathtaking movie about music and breaking the mold. I only learned it was in theaters from a theater newsletter email I got a few days before. Hard to pick between it and Puss in Boots for my favorite film of the year. I'll have to watch some of the ones I missed from your higher tiers.
Marmaduke was so good it solo’d the movie industry. The story made me cry when he used the bathroom at a dog show. And the visuals are top-notch, my eyes were blessed. The dialogue was so good, especially when he said “Uh oh!” and proceeded to kick out the potty humor. Solid 10/10 movie Puss in boots could never compare
Here's my ranking for the 2022 animated films I saw: 1. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish 2. Del Toro's Pinocchio 3. Rise of the TMNT: The Movie 4. The Bad Guys 5. Turning Red 6. Wendell and Wild 7. The Bob's Burgers Movie 8. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 9. The Sea Beast 10. Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers 11. Lightyear 12. Minions: The Rise of Gru 13. DC League of Superpets 14. Strange World 15. Luck 16. Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank 17. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules 18. Hotel Transylvania 4 19. Pinocchio: A True Story 20. Pinocchio (Disney live-action remake) 21. The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild 22. Marmaduke.
Fun fact: As somebody who speaks German, Spanish, and English, it turns out, the minions speak tons of languages. Their little language is actually just a bunch of languages stitched together.
My favorite was 100% puss in boots. I liked all the characters and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen once. Perrito is definitely my favorite character and I’m happy he wasn’t just used as a comedy character with no purpose other than to make jokes
I’m glad you gave DC league of super-pets a decent ranking because I quite liked that film and I seen there designs enough to become use to it in Rise of TMNT and your Generous with Strange world since Disney sure wasn’t ha ha well it would be quite weird if they didn’t focus on the animated characters through out a whole Chip and Dale film imagine people going to see it and they turn out to be quite minor characters
I didn’t watch a lot of animated films of 2022 but Guillmero Del Toro’s Pinocchio was definitely my favorite animated movie of the year. It’s so rich in its emotions and themes and the acting and animation are incredibly well done. Surprisingly dark but really great ending as well has me nearly crying
7:33 tbh, hearing chickenhare on this list kind of shocked me. didn’t know anyone else had heard of that movie. Puss In Boots The Last Wish made me cry twice during my second viewing, which no film has every done. In my opinion, its easily the best DreamWorks Film since Httyd2 and has rapidly become my 2nd film from the studio.

Sonic 2 is not a animated movie Edit: FINALLY I found somebody who does not think Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio is the best and Puss in Boots is also my favorite movie for 2022
my favorite is between three sequals, Puss in Boots the Last Wish, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Minions, the Rise of Gru, there is also DC's League of Superpets which i thought was pritty good too
Out of the movies I saw in this tier list I'd say that Turning Red is an easy D tier because I didn't find the movie funny and most characters I found rather obnoxious. Rise of the Tmnt movie is an S tier because Leonard's character arc, Krang, the story, and the visuals are amazing. Lightyear is a C tier because it doesn't feel like a movie Andy would watch as a kid and (Spoiler Alert!) Zerg was completely ruined by making him Buzz from the future instead of keeping him as his father. Sonic 2 is an S tier because it gave me everything I wanted to see. Puss in Boots 2 is another S tier for having a great and intimidating villain and great animation and very funny jokes. And last but not least, the Bad Guys is an A tier for having neet comedy, characters I was invested in and it was genuinely a fun movie.
This was probably one of the best years for Dreamworks, having it’s two movies in S Rank. Personally, I didn’t like the Bad Guys, but both movies were great/ok.
I am so glad that there are still objective people in the world who do not humiliate Turning red. This is really a very pleasant and cozy cartoon and many began to hate it only because of the comparison with Puss in Boots, although these are generally different genres.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie was going to be *especially* casual-accessible because if it was related to anything specific to the episodes that were recent when the writing started, the pandemic delays would create so much distance that the film would feel dated.
While I feel like Strange World was a bit off in some parts, I genuinely loved the art of it. Also, the whole setup of them being inside a massive creature, as well as just seeing how its body functioned was really cool and fun to see.
Before I could continue with the video I immediately had to see where you ranked the Rise movie, and seeing it now I can already tell this is gonna be a great video
From what I heard it still does but there's one movie that can be topped the reason? Cause there's no 2D anymore so it's pretty pretty safe wich is kinda sad if I'm honest

BRO SEA BEAST BETTER THAN RISE OF GRU? Bro, I just can't ik its other peoples opinions but personally i dont think sea beast deserved that high especially after rise of gru.
I'm glad that you actually rated bad guys an S tier movie it was absolutely amazing and some people seem to not like it even though it was one of the best movies I've ever seen and also should I watch toros Pinocchio I haven't seen it and it seems really good
Puss in Boots The Last Wish is my all time favorite animated movie of 2022 and my worst ones are The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild and Paws of Fury The Legend of Hank.
Puss in Boots The Last wish was definitely my most favorite movie of 2022 my top 5 are 5 Paws of Fury The Legend of Hank 4 The Bad Guys 3 DC League of Super Pets 2 Sonic the Hedgehog 2 1 Puss in Boots the last Wish as for the other movies I’ve seen like half of them
Puss in boots the last wish needs more love because it was funny, awesome, cool, had great writing, animation, emotional moments,it was mature and it is peak dreamworks 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Idk why people didn't like Bubble as much as I did... For me it was like a Lovecraftian version of Little Mermaid that also talks about being the same and wanting the same no matter the differences... So sad people couldn't appreciate it
10:15 Original despicable me : the minions were created by gru (so he’s not alone anymore) (confirmed by the creators of the movie) • And little gru dreaming of being an astronaut and was forced to be a villain by life The 2 minions movie : yeah no we’re gonna scratch that…………… • Minion 1 now the minions are a species that existed before humans and as the objective of serving the most evil person that exist • Minions 2 now gru always wanted to be a villain (no more astronaut stuf)
I have two primary disagreements with the ranking. 1. I really enjoyed Bubble. It was cute and the ending was really sad to me. It was my third favorite movie of the year (after Puss in Boots and Belle). 2. I didn’t really care for Turning Red. I didn’t identify with it, and neither did the rest of my family. It’s one of those movies that were good but not fantastic (i.e. Soul or Luca).
You’re probably the first person I’ve seen on here who hasn’t dumped on turning red. I also watched that movie a lot in 2022 because it came out right after my 14th birthday. It was probably my favorite movie that year besides the Del Toro Pinocchio. All my friends in theater loved it too
You just made me watch what I consider my favorite movie in the past year and I watched Puss in boots the last wish but man Entergalactic just hit different for me thanks man I'll sub and like great content
I just saw the Sea beast and it's good. The animation is pretty, the character have nice details and designs, Maysie and the hunter have a cute father-daughter bound, the action is exciting. One thing was dissapointing, the red monster. His design is a bit simple, he looked like Toothless especially his eyes AND his relation with the heroes was rushed. They saw him on the island, helped him with the giant crab and imediately became friends. It was too quick! If the movie spend ten more minutes developping this relation, it would work. Beside that, it was a fun adventure 😀
It wasn't released this year tho (even in Disney+ it says 2020 as its release date). Also as someone who watched it twice on theaters and has that movie on his phone so i can watch it whatever time i want, it isn't _that_ good per se. It's still A tier tho, yet not even close to Del Toro's Pinocchio, and hella not close to The Last Wish. A little generic wtiting, and some 3D elements on it aren't that good (mostly that ugly ass bus in the feria scene). But it has one of the best villains any LatAm animated production has put on the big screen.
My top 3 movies in 2022 1: SONIC 2 2: puss in boots 2 ( I watch it in 2023 ) 3: Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers 7:45 remands me of lion king scar evil uncle taking over a kingdom
With something I agree. Turning red is awesome, not only for girls. It’s so enchanting, great story and characters. Maybe a little cringe, but that what creators hoped to happen - evoke emotions.
Puss in Boots 2 isn't just the best animated film of the year, some people are contending it for the best movie of 2022 in general! Although most people will still probably chose either Top Gun or Avatar.
theres so much i dont understand about belle like how did suzus friends know she was belle (before the reveal happened), and also the kids that were being abused were shown to a live audience so how come instead of singing and revealing her true self instead belle just told everyone that the beast was actually an abused kid. and how does the u universe even worse, the whole time there were people trying to kill the beast and ruin his castle but since everything is a virtual world then why does that matter cant they just remake it? does it follow the rules of if you die here then you die in real life? like its all so confusing I dont get that oh and not to mention at the end when she stared at the abusive dad why did that make him cry and freak out?
My top 5 were 1 puss in boots 2 2 dc super pets 3 minion 2 4 bad guys 5 turning red Honourabel mention : enter galactic, el dorado pinnochio Belle, sonic the hedgehog 2

Before I could continue with the video I immediately had to see where you ranked the Rise movie, and seeing it now I can already tell this is gonna be a great video
Puss in boots 2 is the best animated movie in my opinion. #1 on my list
From what I heard it still does but there's one movie that can be topped the reason?
Cause there's no 2D anymore so it's pretty pretty safe wich is kinda sad if I'm honest
@@Simbala-bq5vythe fuck are you even saying?
I saw 37 animated movies released in 2022 and did a ranking myself.
Eyyyyyy!!!
@@AnimationFanboy2k4 Hello!
@@RazorRex should the Hotel Transylvania franchise continue to be alive for Disney+ for a multi year deal with Netflix and Sony Pictures and Hulu?
@@Mariofanaticanimations NO!
But the ending in Transformania where Mavis and Johnny rebuilt the hotel was there for sequel bait
8:53 super Mario galaxy music brings me back to my childhood I miss when I was oblivious ignorant and happy, not knowing do much was fun, even though I wished I was smart.
I agree. Puss in Boots definitely the #1 for me as well.❤
Puss in boots the last wish was by FAR my favorite movie of last year
Pretty telling that dreamworks is probably entering a kind if Renaissance
Turning Red was a good movie in concept and animation, however the final product largely disappointed me.
BRO SEA BEAST BETTER THAN RISE OF GRU? Bro, I just can't ik its other peoples opinions but personally i dont think sea beast deserved that high especially after rise of gru.
Since my Gaming and Movie sides love to fight for priority, I didn't watch many movies in 2022.
I can relate
When he put rise of gru in c tier that physically and mentally hurt me
I'm glad that you actually rated bad guys an S tier movie it was absolutely amazing and some people seem to not like it even though it was one of the best movies I've ever seen and also should I watch toros Pinocchio I haven't seen it and it seems really good
Puss in Boots The Last Wish is my all time favorite animated movie of 2022 and my worst ones are The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild and Paws of Fury The Legend of Hank.
Finally someone who recognizes the master piece that is the Future is wild!
From one paleo nerd to another, I’m very happy you mentioned the Megaloceros
Puss in Boots The Last wish was definitely my most favorite movie of 2022 my top 5 are
5 Paws of Fury The Legend of Hank
4 The Bad Guys
3 DC League of Super Pets
2 Sonic the Hedgehog 2
1 Puss in Boots the last Wish
as for the other movies I’ve seen like half of them
I only have one thing to say about your number one…..
🎶Who is your favorite fearless heeeeeroo? Who is your favorite fearless HEEEEERRRROOO???🎶
I love that I immediately knew what you were going to say before I even clicked 'read more'
Puss in boots the last wish needs more love because it was funny, awesome, cool, had great writing, animation, emotional moments,it was mature and it is peak dreamworks 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Puss in boots the last wish is definitely the best movie I've watched of all time
No way this man ranked turning red over sonic 2
Fr
Idk why people didn't like Bubble as much as I did... For me it was like a Lovecraftian version of Little Mermaid that also talks about being the same and wanting the same no matter the differences... So sad people couldn't appreciate it
Puss in boots two was like minons 2 intended for older audinces that grew up with that world and it's charcters
Was not at all expecting 'Turning Red' to be that high but still a pretty well made Teir-list
10:15
Original despicable me :
the minions were created by gru (so he’s not alone anymore)
(confirmed by the creators of the movie)
•
And little gru dreaming of being an astronaut and was forced to be a villain by life
The 2 minions movie : yeah no we’re gonna scratch that……………
•
Minion 1 now the minions are a species that existed before humans and as the objective of serving the most evil person that exist
•
Minions 2 now gru always wanted to be a villain
(no more astronaut stuf)
Witch kinda sucks because those were some of the big reason of why gru was able to get the redemption in the first movie 🍿
10:50 bro literally called me out. During the scene where Red was staring I was thoroughly startled and watched through my fingers lol
Sea Monster is How to train your dragon but with less charismatic characters
Wow. Paleo listens to all the VGM I do.
For 2, I guess that's your opinion. (I did really like it.) But can we agree It's better than Lightyear?
@@cameronbosch1213yeah definitely, lightyear got a lot more hate than turning red
You’re probably the first person I’ve seen on here who hasn’t dumped on turning red. I also watched that movie a lot in 2022 because it came out right after my 14th birthday. It was probably my favorite movie that year besides the Del Toro Pinocchio. All my friends in theater loved it too
13:54 please someone tell me I’m not the only one who got (where’s my water)
vibes while looking at the movie poster
You just made me watch what I consider my favorite movie in the past year and I watched Puss in boots the last wish but man Entergalactic just hit different for me thanks man I'll sub and like great content
I think lightyear is supposed to be the reboot of buzz in the toy story universe
Nahuel y el Libro Magico (Nahuel and the Magic Book), Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio, Rise of the TMNT Movie, Belle >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Strange World is just the quantum realm…
I’m not even wrong they look the exact same.
It’s funny at 1:31 it reminded me of my uncle because he works for river dance
I watched it when it released in the uk on the 3rd now the first song is stuck in my head
My top 3 movies in 2022
1: SONIC 2
2: puss in boots 2 ( I watch it in 2023 )
3: Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers
7:45 remands me of lion king scar evil uncle taking over a kingdom
I love the Doofenshmirtz meme
Yoooo Secret of Mana music?? Based
I watched bubble in a movie night with my family it was so good and when im was like 3 years old i keep watching the ba ba baa ba baa the minions
What are your thought on Beastars? Personally, I'm hooked.
I like it! I've seen both seasons.
With something I agree. Turning red is awesome, not only for girls. It’s so enchanting, great story and characters. Maybe a little cringe, but that what creators hoped to happen - evoke emotions.
Yo, I remember watching night at the museum when I was a kid and still like it to this day
Fun(?) fact:
Luck actually has an A113 for some reason if I remember correctly.
Puss in Boots 2 isn't just the best animated film of the year, some people are contending it for the best movie of 2022 in general! Although most people will still probably chose either Top Gun or Avatar.
No you're right about Wendel and Wild. I could've gone so hard, so deep but it's pretty ok for what it is.
I definitely agree with you on Wendell and Wylde. The trailers made the stakes seem a fair bit higher than they actually were.

Came here for this
coz I'm a smidge insane
carry on folks carry on
12:14 bad guys is the other btw which is 🔥
Puss in Boots is INSANE! I really liked the first movie and thats exactly what i wanted!
NGL, Chip and Dale rescue rangers felt like I was watching a bad RUclips poop video
Awesome list man, keep up the good work! 😁👍
What’s the song that plays on 0:00? I’ve heard it before.
That's Wondaria Dream Parade from Kirby and the Forgotten Land!
@@PaleoSteno thanks! Keep up the good work! 👌😀
theres so much i dont understand about belle like how did suzus friends know she was belle (before the reveal happened), and also the kids that were being abused were shown to a live audience so how come instead of singing and revealing her true self instead belle just told everyone that the beast was actually an abused kid. and how does the u universe even worse, the whole time there were people trying to kill the beast and ruin his castle but since everything is a virtual world then why does that matter cant they just remake it? does it follow the rules of if you die here then you die in real life? like its all so confusing I dont get that oh and not to mention at the end when she stared at the abusive dad why did that make him cry and freak out?
Idk if it was shade or if it was forgotten about that Disney's Pinocchio remake wasn't on here, either way it was still pretty funny.
Sonic 2 should've been in s tier
Marmaduke actually was played in my class 💀
My top 5 were
1 puss in boots 2
2 dc super pets
3 minion 2
4 bad guys
5 turning red
Honourabel mention
: enter galactic, el dorado pinnochio
Belle, sonic the hedgehog 2
