- In May 2017, 22-year-old Akia Eggleston was eight months pregnant. When she didn’t show up for her own baby shower, friends and family realized Akia had gone missing. Stephanie Bauer travels to Baltimore to discover the impact of Akia’s disappearance on her loved ones. She also joins the detectives trying to piece together the final days of Akia’s life before she vanished.

UPDATE: February 4, 2022 41 year old, Michael Robertson, has been arrested for the murder of Akia and her unborn son. He is the baby’s father and they were together just as her text messages claimed. The murder came after a heated argument between Akia and Robertson over a social media post. He is facing 2 life sentences if convicted. Hopefully he rots away in jail and the family gets the justice they deserve.
I could tell by the way the investigator was talking that they suspected it was the baby's father but didn't have enough evidence to do anything at that point.
I hope he rots in prison.

The young lady Akita’s friend is the one I would want to question. I think she knows more than she’s saying. Why would she be so angry not being able to get hold of him.
Yes , I think the texts were faked & all her furniture & belongings were stolen. Ask neighbors what type of moving truck was there rental there's your killer. They could have driven her body & belongings right out of state before anyone knew she was missing. Follow the truck they may have even sold her stuff on eBay or craigslist, pawnshop. These were maybe her friends who knew she didn't have much money left because they had been mooching for a long while.

I live in Baltimore Maryland and I can tell you that the trash removal wouldn’t be a factor and here’s why trash in Baltimore doesn’t go to a landfill it goes to a sorting facility and in that sorting facility workers separate different kinds of trash they would have noticed a dead body

Such a sad story, I highly doubt she is still alive. Considering how long it has been and her health conditions. Akia's friend mentioned the baby's father had issues with previous girlfriends, I bet it has something to do with that. But if the boyfriend isn't coming forward to try and help find her, then I imagine he knows what happened to her.
Akia goes missing at 8 months pregnant, with a high-risk pregnancy, she’s moving to a new place with the baby daddy, people moved her out of her apt and no one knows anything, sounds suspicious!

Three years to the day that this young lady has been missing. Someone must know something, it doesn't add up. Her friend says that she was planning on moving, whilst her grandmother says that was not the case. I hope that she is found safe and well. ❤
What if he (the baby’s dad) did something to her then made it look like she was packing but he did it? This is really bothering me. I hope they find answers. Her poor family 😭

Maybe she took the money out of the bank to buy some baby furniture from a stranger she met online and that stranger is a crazy lady who intended to cut the baby from her and keep it as her own. It's not like it has never happened before.

The stigma is "don't wanna snitch" but a snitch is someone who practices the same lifestyle that they accuse others of doing to authorities. For example, a dope dealer or user calling police and informing them of a dope dealer/user. So unless these people are all murderers, there's no snitching.... People truly aren't sure.

Judging by the text messages from her friend, she definitely was living a secret life. Unfortunately, family members think they know someone so well when such isn’t the case most times. I don’t care how much you think you know your children, you don’t.

I keep watching everything on this case to see if anybody says where the daughter was the 4 days nobody knew she was missing. Even if someone was taking care of her child, wouldn't you check on your 2 year old every day?

I want to know which friend drove Akia to the bank the last day she was seen, this friend said they drove her home afterward, we know from cctv footage there is proof she made it to the bank and took out money but is there proof she ever made it back home? Her phone last pinged from a tower near the bank then she was gone. When she didn't show up to her own baby shower her family went looking for her at her apt that she shared with a roommate and found she was missing and some of her furniture and belongings had been removed from the home- I wonder who and where the roommate was? Then six months after she goes missing friends and family were holding a vigil for her outside her apt. and find her bank card under the bushes by her front door. They claim it looked as if it had just been placed there, police wouldn't comment on this. All of this is very alarming to me, I'm afraid something terrible happened to Akia and her body was disposed of- maybe even in one of those apt. dumpsters.

It's been eight months. Grief takes only a couple of months. Not years. He was a military man, so assuming his vigorous training, recovering and hiding emotional disparity is probably something he is rather good at.

I’m sure the detectives on this case are withholding some information, due to keeping the integrity of the case, but as 2 years have passed, it may be time to share some of that~ What about the last ping on her phone? She may have withdrawn the money intending to pay some movers who turned out not to be the best people. She may also have taken part of her inheritance and purchased some very expensive items that were in her apartment of which the movers became aware when they got there. The movers may have just decided to keep the expensive items and had to get rid of her. There are two avenues to approach this. The question comes how did she locate the movers? If she was on the Internet, she would have conducted a search, but if her computer was stolen also, that is a problem. Was it from a posting on a bulletin board in her apartment complex or at the local store? The other possibility for tracing the murders is if the police are able to figure out what expensive items she may have bought and then if they appear somewhere like a pawn shop trace them back to those who pawned/sold them.

It might be because no alibi is ever mentioned or provided in these videos, but like you said the police have done their investigations. Obviously when someone goes missing friends and family are the first suspects to rule out.

My guess is the stepfather abused her and got her pregnant, then had to get rid of her. The family member who mentioned that after her mum's death, she started acting out towards her step father, is a clue there
It's not uncommon that people who are grieving lash out against their closest relatives and even friends. When my mother died I pretty much just wanted to be left alone. It wasn't mentioned if she previously lived with her parents or she was at the apartment. The step-father seems to have been in her life since a very young age, so she probably viewed him as her actual father rather than her real (and presumably deadbeat) one.

@@willowsmith7736 no this case is still unsolved but my opinion is it had to be the friend or the childs father, the friend was driving her around to all the banks while she was getting money so the friend could have killed her for the money, but my gut tells me it was the child's father, he was a jailbird and 20 years older than her so he could have killed her and took the money

The baby's father was charged with her murder. They're hinting that he put her in the dumpster based on his Google search history about landfills and dumpsters in Baltimore and where the trash goes after it's taken...absolutely disgusting what he did to this woman.

I seen another true crime series on this and they said her roommate she was living with told them she was moving out into a place with the babys father and that's why she was taking out money, but she was also getting numerous checks from different sources during that time as well..

The amount of money she withdrew is odd. Any camera footage outside the bank which may potentially reveal is she was there alone or not? She could be kidnapped.

The case involving a missing pregnant woman who was last seen before her baby shower has officially turned into a murder investigation about five years after she disappeared and two months after the father of her child was arrested.
According to WBFF-TV, Akia Eggleston’s case has changed from a missing person to a homicide investigation. Eggleston and her unborn son, Anubis Robertson, were reportedly added to Baltimore’s list of homicide victims.
Eggleston was last seen May 3, 2017, near the Inner Harbor neighborhood of Baltimore, according to the Baltimore Police Department. She was reportedly eight months pregnant and did not show up for her baby shower. WBFF reports Eggleston was reported missing May 7.
On Feb. 3, 2022, the Baltimore City State’s Attorney announced Michael Robertson, the father of Eggleston’s unborn son, was charged with murder. According to the State’s Attorney statement, Robertson allegedly "misled Eggleston into believing that they were moving in together with plans to start a life together."
The statement alleges Robertson "concocted an intricate ruse involving a false move-in location that ultimately led to Eggleston withdrawing cash for a down payment for the home."
Robertson allegedly misled detectives during their investigation about his relationship with Eggleston.
According to a probable cause affidavit, detectives reportedly found one of Robertson’s Google accounts, and searches included "where does Baltimore city trash go when picked up" and "Baltimore city landfill."
Eggleston’s body is still missing.
