- Murder At The Station: The Hidden Affair (True Crime Documentary) | Real Stories
On 17 October 2008, Paula Poolton went missing - her body was found 11 days later in the boot of her car, parked outside the local railway station. During police enquiries, it was revealed that Paula and a man named Roger Kearney had been having an affair. On the night in question, Kearney says he ate dinner at home and watched television with his partner before driving to his night shift at the post office. Although no forensic evidence was found linking Kearney to the car, he was convicted of the murder.
Across the two episodes, cameras follow as Louise Shorter works diligently to explore every avenue of the case. The film reveals what is really involved in the process of presenting a claim to the Criminal Cases Review Commission in the hope of getting a rare referral to the Court of Appeal.
Documentary following a team of experts as they investigate whether evidence exists that could challenge the conviction of a man in prison for a murder he denies. Every year, over 500 people in the UK are convicted of murder. A guilty verdict can only be challenged if new evidence comes to light - and less than 1% of cases are ever overturned. Inside Justice is a specialist charity led by Louise Shorter, supported by a panel of criminal lawyers, ex-police officers and forensics experts who offer assistance to prisoners who are protesting their innocence.

The case is tragic and she didn’t deserve what happened to her. It is dangerous to get into these emotional/sexual entanglements with a married man/woman and if you take that risk, you have to know that most ppl don’t leave their spouses. You are number 2, for entertainment purposes, newness, a break from the life they’ve settled into. Don’t try to replace their spouses, don’t threaten to tell their spouses and don’t become pregnant. Play your role IF you so decide to get into these sort of things, which you shouldn’t. To be clear, no one deserves to be killed. Make better decisions and keep yourself safe. There are too many cases like these. May she RIP
@Lois Ann Welsh well she didn't deserve to die. Just becuz he was a liar, manipulator, psychopath killer...??? If that's not a weird statement I don't know what is...These trifling add weak men are the reasons women die...Pathetic to say the leash. But we really know what this devil was lying to get about to keep her but she didn't deserve to die.
P.s Men do leave their wives for there mistress so it could be a possibility so we don't know and never will because of this idiot..He's guilty
Well said
My Dad always said "Stay away from married women!"
I agree with much of your comment, however instead of calling it an "entanglement" let's call it what it really is > cheating, adultery, spousal mental abuse, etc. When someone selfishly cheats, and their spouse finds out, that's a form of mental abuse, and don't get me started on cheaters who give their spouse an STD as a result of their cheating. Though I'm not saying Paula or Roger gave STDs to their spouses.
I don't think Paula deserved to be murdered, but I've no sympathy for grown adults who selfishly cheat on their spouses as Roger & Paula did. I do have sympathy for their innocent loved ones.
Full truth. I supported a friend through one of those. She was basically groomed until she was of age until the affair started. She loved him so much and thought he loved her. In hindsight I was the emotional side she couldn't get from him. Kind of a secondary abuse, I was her age.
So often the second (or third, or fourth) woman is shamed and blamed alone, but they just meet men confirming their mental issues with emotionally unavailable men. The married man makes the decision to cheat and objectify women, and often there are more than two. There were in my friend's case and also others I heard about. The story is often set up like "wife vs mistress" while there are many more.
That daughter might not understand the fact that just cuz he is ur father u don't know what he's capable of. 💓🙏🏻justice for her family💓
Quite typical of family members, not just her.
She is in serious denial.
"I've done nothing to be ashamed of."
Except:
Adultery
Lying to my Wife
Lying to my children
Lying to my mistress...
Right?!!! I wanted to 'like' you a billion times!
Right! Good point 💔
What's that got to do with Justice in a court ? Just bigotery.
@@jarulelamar2025 so you think he should be proud of those things?
Absolutely. It's actually worrying that he thinks like this.
As of today 9-6-21 the search I just did says Kearney has not gotten an appeal he sought. The expert volunteers, Louise etc al, must not have come up with new evidence and so probably would not support an appeal yet . . .
Last bit of losing last appeal request was late September 2020.
If he is innocent it looks like he is stuck.
I wish they would make more of these video's about these people trying to help the innocent get out of prison .She is a very good lawyer .
and I wish they would do more programs on keeping the mongrels in and giving them decent sentences!
She's not a Lawyer. She says so at the beginning of the video.
Couldnt agree more! I’m from Texas and true crime Docs (esp. from other English language countries) are infinitely intriguing… I could watch 10 seasons of this lady and her experts exploring criminals/cases- innocent or not.
*********Don’t read the comments unless you want other people to ruin it for you. It aired previously on Reel TV
christina someone in comments linked to part 2 (spoiler alert) You're going to end up finding out its possible the powers that be intervened, or that it's a hall of mirrors, that it's possible evidence was made to disappear deliberately but this can't be proven to have anything to do with its value towards achieving outcomes, therefor...corona. Lol. Evidence can be destroyed if found to be a risk to public health...or if all appeals have been exhausted there's no legal requirement for evidence to be preserved...yada yada just look to the hall of mirrors, try to find the crack...
Thanks 😊
7hilladelphia It aired on Reel tv already. That’s how people are spoiling it.. they watched it previously
Thank you, glad this was top comment.
Thx for the warning
He never said he did not kill her when asked. He said I did not do what they say I did. Very different things.
Exactly. He killed her. He just didn't execute the murder the way they suspected.
It bothered me too. The fact he was on the phone in prison and that we could clearly ear he was in a communal area, I wondered if it could have lead him to weight his words ?
My thoughts exactly. As soon as he said that my heart sank. I thought, he can't even say it. Not good 😣you wanna believe they are innocent... 😞
The thing is he should have been innocent until proven guilty. It seems like the prosecution just did a way better job than the defense.
Exactly!!
The daughter seems more concerned about how it impacts her, how she would not have been let down and how it is affecting her. Pattern here!
THIS IS PART ONE. There is a Part TWO, but I haven't been able to find the final Part THREE. Anyone else find Part Three? Great series!
I must’ve skipped the part but how is there NO forensic evidence???
Loads of blood from stabbings????
“Had something happened to her?”
“Men” 😂
aint that the truth
sounds like she happened to men
Yeah sadly
Wish it was label part 1 of (how many)? Instead almost an hour & I have no idea how much more till I see this resolved.
Not happy with that.
I never understand how cases can hinge on CCTV footage that almost always looks like something car-shaped blurred past. Almost every footage I've ever seen on news reports etc has been so pixellated, so blurry, I can't figure out anyone could come to conclusions. TV Drama has a LOT to answer for with their crystal clear (ish) images and quick one-two click on the keyboard and every police station can enhance any footage.
You cant create drama with clear images duh
Our phones are clearer than these liquor store cameras.
And yet they are in possession of technology which can record images crystal clear.
They do so to avoid subpoenas and being inserted into trial. Sick.
You're not capable of horrific and terrible things....until you are.
Guilty as sin
I always watch your vids keep it up
This makes me want to do something distinctive with my car so it couldn't be mistaken for a similar make/model/color.
Decals are cheap.
dump it on rims bruv

51:30 when the local crazy lady gets on a documentary and is believed... That lady never met the victim sorry. We all know her. She is nuts.
What 😂😂😂😂 explain more please
Honestly I believe you lmao
Really?
Omg 😂 I kept thinking 'something is off here'. Imma need you to spill this tea ☕
Something off with this lady. She really doesn’t give many details. She could be making it all up. Also, (not being judgmental), but she’s either high or medicated. Not the most reliable.
Where can i see more documentaries with Louise please ? Ty 🥰
Oh I really love the music….. makes us more drawn to the story! ❤️
I see NOTHING BUT A RING OF LIGHT/SHADOW. It's so frustrating. There are cold cases where the footage is clear and they can't distinguish who it is. Then there are those cases where you have to practically imagine the damn video image it's so bad, and they are dead set on what they are seeing.
I love to see all these women on these expert boards!
Louise: "something happened to her, what happened?"
Ana: "hm... Men!"
Louise: 😐
I like Ana she's a character... seems like she had few drinks before the interview😁
I mean. 😂
@@malankanetally3858 most definitely! She seems high-key wasted on something. Certainly this could make someone a far less reliable reporter on detailed facts and events but I do wonder about that having impact on recall of the broad strokes of who her friend was seeing. Also seems she’s have no motive for making up stuff. Who knows with such a muddy case!
Hes not very convincing on the phone ,I think hes guilty.
I need part 2!!!
why dont people just pack up and walk away why murder
Of course the daughter is not going to suspect that her father could be capable of this, she would hold him in such high regard. But, you don't know what he could be capable of when its a different kind of love, there is a difference in love for children and love for a partner. He would never tell her either because he'd loose what she is giving him which is time and possibly money too whilst he's there for his term.
I don't know if Roger is guilty of murder, but he is guilty of not caring about Paula. He sure wasn't broken up at all when she died. She must have been just a fling for him.
ya have to consider a time diff. when using multi cams also..they're not always in sync
He's a dead ringer for Jeffrey Hughs who also has "GUILTY" written al over his smarmy face. ( In a very similar font!)
Having an affair or a relationship is never the same the former is never long lasting as this video has just proved
01:20 It would have been simpler to tell her he wanted to stop. She would have been hurt, of course but then, would have eventually moved on.
Imazing, he Never said, I DON'T KILL HER. Only said, there not enough evidence 🙄. Oh, well. Justice served.

@lazy artist thank you for part 2 link👍🏼
We should all be so lucky as to have people who love us the way Stan and Ann clearly love Paula. The interviews with the two of them brought me to tears. I would be shocked to discover that anyone other than my parents have photographs of me out, or even close to hand in a cupboard. My bf & I have been together for 15 years and have I think 1 photograph from the first couple months of dating, and that's tucked away somewhere on a hard drive...maybe in an old email. We had a cat for 11 years and when she died I realized we had no photographs of her, except ones on old phones that we aren't even sure where to begin looking to find on the off chance we could power them back up or get the old SIM card. =(
I look forward to seeing the next Part. From this i think he did it for sure. Lets see.
The style of this is really good. The cadence, sound, everything. The film analyst was too quick to say no further info extractable.
'No' in 2008, maybe.
Feel second hand inebriation just listening to that friend.
Is there only one vehicle of his make in the city??? Good grief.
If the car may have been driven by someone else to the station, would the investigators not check to see if the car seat had been moved back for a possibly larger person than the victim? The height of the victim compared with seat position.
What's really sad and disturbing is that no one will ever know what happens in all the millions of these tragic cases.... But the victims and the person responsible for his/her/or their deaths....❤️💔💔💔😔
There aren't millions of these cases. There are thousands...it's not as common as you think. It just seems more common because you're watching a documentary on the topic of murder... If you take the average number of unsolved murders in the UK per year, there are approximately 700. Assuming a constant rate of 700 unsolved murders PER YEAR, there have been 70,000 unsolved murders in the UK over the ENTIRE last CENTURY.
2008- London- A woman, named Paula was found stabbed to death in the boot of a car. It was Roger Kearny her then boy friend was accused of the murder and sent to prison but he denied he killed her. Wasted too much time over a questionable murder case.
Bc STABBING your mistress early in the night on your way to work is always the best way to hide your affair🤦♀️ It's INSANE to think a man who's never been known to be violent would pick such a brutal way to commit his first violent offense
and go all the way for the kill.
They need to move onto another case. Don’t know what about this case motivated them to reviewing it
No comment because l read the comments! Crazy!
Thanks for uploading, eh?
Honestly, his car was on the camera... he was acting suspicious running back and forth on the video, its typically the husband/boyfriend... he was acting very nonchalant about the relationship, and on top of that, he didn't straight up say "I didn't murder her."
Him saying he didn't think the relationship would have developed is straight up suspicious. And what does him bringing up her having a "dark side" have to do with anything?
You want to meet at station street
Ok I need part 2 right now!
Part 2 ????? This is intersting
Nother one, no ending.
Do u have the second half
He wasn’t an honest man…why should we believe him. He said he has done nothing to be ashamed of? Ummm, having an affair is shame. He probably killed her cause she threatened to tell his wife
He wouldn't have even gotten a trial, in most States here, in America. They need much more than; "He was acting like a guilty person," at least.
More than just loose, circumstantial, (at best,) evidence linking a person of interest to a case, to even keep somebody in jail for more than 72, (some places even only 24,) hours, before being officially charged, or they must release them until sufficient evidence is forthcoming.
To even be considered a "suspect," they need something that's at a minimum, probable cause.
(I'm just sayin' ✌)
Ah, the US legal system. Yeah, right.
When will the 2nd part be uploaded? Thank you
These ladies trying to prove him innocent aren’t the sharpest tools in the box. All their arguments for him is just pure nonsense. Yea, try cutting him loose with that frivolous trash. They need to just stop. I’m all for the innocence project , or equivalents to it, to review cases where there is very good reason to consider a possible miscarriage of justice, I.e new dna evidence, witnesses who lie, etc, and so these projects are important and have a place in our society because the worst that can happen is for an innocent person to be imprisoned! However, this case is not one of those.
Think Rodger is innocent of murder but he is guilty of having an affair! 🖤
Affairs never end well
Were part 2 I watched thus twice in separate occasions...ugh😐😐😐
Part 2
Great. So no closure for us? 😭
Where is part 2 ?
the beginning of this sounded like space bound by eminem lol
What's the song at 20:20
That was him on the camera who else? He had any enemies/friends shaped like him w/similar haircut?
Honestly, it looks like the loved ones of murder victims would always want to be sure that the person in prison for the crime is really guilty. Because if not, the murderer is not being held accountable.
sooo... the old bag brings up there was supposedly a 3rd man , some mysterious french man , then they say that the car my have been driven by the killer , there would be a chance of dna in the car then , also there'd have to be blood on the steering wheel from the gloves
Why would he put her in the trunk? Why wouldn’t he just leave her in the car and risk being seen picking up a body and would he had enough time to get any blood off of his clothing and get to work when he did?
this is all pretty amateur stuff , they have cctv footage but ask "experts" to guess what type of car . why not put different model cars in those positions and driving by those locations and have a computer program identify a match ? why are these guys evading that simple procedure ?
Glad some of y'all are not on a jury to convict on your feelings.... he's not convincing over the phone... tf
Oh my gosh.. 16:18 this lady is convinced 🙄 hope she's wrong. My instincts says she's wrong✔️
then i am glad you are not a criminal investigator
He doesn’t even sound convincing. Like, at all
If a person is really innocent in jail than the real killer is still on the loose 😱
I think it was him honestly it was a crime of passion
No such a thing as a crime of passion. It’s a crime pure and simple. Murder
Where’s part 2?
The lady at the end is clearly drunk and doesn’t seem very bright. I would hazard a guess that she was looking for attention but didn’t actually know anything.
Ok. Going now. Incontinence panties put me out🤮🤮🤮
He did it.
💖
What I'm most annoyed about is the presenter, who pretends doing all the research herself.
You can't stab someone like that then go to work you would be covered in blood
.... a little slow, isn't it
I watch at 1.5
The blonde lady has beautiful eyes
Did she think he would have an affair ??
Who else had a motive? And can't Touch DNA be tested? 🤔
gonna say he's guilty, but not beyond a reasonable doubt!
The only reasonable doubt I have is HOW he executed the murder. Not IF.
I THINK HER OWN HUSBAND KILLED FOR HAVING AN AFFAIR !!!!!!!!!!!
That is a twist! 😱
That's wut I was thinking but I'd need more evidence n hear his alibi
pwosicution??..
What happened to breaking up with her ?Was it necessary to kill her ?
Having affairs with married ppl seems nothing, how sad
I couldn't understand half of what they were saying.
I saw this on reel truth crime channel already.
And.. 🤷
Surfside and I saw this before
The old guy killed her or her home girl who didn't want to talk did it....
If u wanna resolve this case u have 2 ask Roger just one question: What do u recall from that Little Britain episode u said u have watched? The most funny part let's say... 🤔
She asks him to recount the evening in as much detail as possible right? You'd expect some immersive vivid imagery but he goes, dinner at 6, we watched a bit of tv, I left for work around 10.... ok Roger, yeah, that's detailed, that's personal, you're speaking the truth from your heart, yeah right mayte.... already I think he's not being truthful.... should I keep watching ?
I tried to think how I might answer something like this if I was in his position. Honestly, my memory is so bad that my response would probably sound really similar to this, but I'd probably say "about" 6 or "about" 10. Not defending him, just observing how scary that would be for people with bad memories. Good thing i will never be in this position!
RocknRollRat good point. If things were crucial you'd want a bit of time ay. Even get hynotised or something. Not put on the spot like that . Thanks for replying.

At one point, we should all be equipped with body cams. I'm now convinced there are more innocent people incarcerated than guilty people. He hesitated at the door=guilty of murder. Dear Lord I'm not kidding; I suffer from anxiety so bad it makes me wonder what I look like.
I think he’s innocent of being not guilty

It's because they have wider CCTV coverage than any country on earth. Very difficult to do anything or go anywhere in Britian without getting caught on CCTV.
