  • Jack Quinn, the Buffalo Sabres' 2020 8th overall draft pick in the 1st round, played in the AHL as an underager this year due to the OHL's cancelation. With Rochester, he recorded 9 points in 15 games, including 2 goals, 7 assists, and a beautiful shootout goal to help the Rochester Americans beat the Utica Comets.

None of his points were mistakes either. Every single one of those were extremely intelligent plays.

Very true; not much by way of puck luck for him this year, just hard work and skill

That no-luck pass he disguised as a shot 25-sec was sick.

Really hope the Quinn pick wasn’t the result of understaffed rookie mgmt, but just a deeper dive into the player. Maybe it isn’t as simple as taking BPA anymore. Scoring in different ways is a wonderful trait. Victor Olofsson was their top prospect a year ago, & by the end of this season, we are all talking about how he can’t be a Kotalik & just score from the same spot on the PP. We need guys that make others around them better. Quinn looks like a really intelligent player. What I wouldn’t give for more high IQ players on defense too.

I knew a John potempa in high school. If that is you. Idk. But I do agree actually. Let's hope it was a combination of his character and the thinking of he hasn't been playing as long as some kids so maybe the sky is the limit type thing. Olofsson does need to be better at 5v5. The kotalik comparison is as accurate as it gets. The ridiculous shot/pp specialist. That's great in all but wish there could be more there.

Such an off the board pick at 8th but seems like it was a steal

Not really he was projected on many scout rankings top 10

@@thomasgiffin175 think he was in the 11-15 range. But I think that was mainly bc he was a late bloomer and they had one good season to go off of. Kinda like the Bills’ 1st Rd pick Rousseau sitting out last year - you’re hoping for a home run and are forecasting on a small sample size. Here’s hoping they come out looking like geniuses. I think about how Evander Kane was a top 5 pick, & he was one dimensional, just shot from all angles. I’m drooling over a player that scores in different ways. A year ago, Olofsson was their top prospect, & now we’re begging he isn’t the next Kotalik & doesn’t just score on the PP.
