- 'No-one believed me. I went to my GP every day for a whole week and was told the pain I was feeling was psychological. The pain got so bad that I couldn’t even walk.'
'About the BAME side of things, I do think there is a lot more education that needs to be done. Speaking about people from my experience, I’m not sure they fully understand, that if you have cancer, there is help and support out there. It really seems to be more about what other people will think [about you having cancer].'
Late diagnosis is a real issue for sarcoma cancers.
During a working lifetime, a GP may see many hundreds
of benign tumours, but can only expect to see one
or two patients with bone or soft tissue sarcomas.
Given its rarity, it can be difficult to recognise the
symptoms described by the patients as being those of a
suspected sarcoma. This means that possible sarcoma
patients are either sent away or put on unnecessary
treatment for another condition.
Sarcoma won't wait.

So happy that your ok and sorry that the hospital took that long time to diagnose it and could have been so different the amount of years that went by and you was able to be cancer free. What an amazing young lady you are and an inspiration to the world. Wish you continued good health and hope you achieve all your dreams, stay blessed.🙏
My aunt age 40, was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma in 2017. Unfortunately due to lack of awareness in the village she is from, in India, she had to undergo emergency left above knee amputation. She then went through 6 cycles of chemotherapy (ifosfamide). Now,post chemo, 2 MRIs show alternating signals but her biopsy of the stump was tumor free. Her PET scan was suggestive of lung mets. I don't know if she needs stump site revisit or not...but the entire process is so dreading and not being able to see the light at the other side of the tunnel. Phew!!!!! Just determined to make her cancer free! ✊
Hi
I am so glad you are doing well!
I was diagnosed with a synovial
cell sarcoma in 1991, right knee, soft tissue. I had 25 radiation treatments. Seven years
ago my right knee collapsed due
to the radiation treatment. I now have a superduper knee replacement. I wear a brace on my right calf and foot. I am so thankful my Dr. was able to save my leg and
knee. Best wishes to you for
a long and lovely cancer free life!
Hi I'm a synovial sarcoma patient too. Today I learned that I have to go through chemo and the side effects of it and I'm feeling scared. Especially about the ifosfamide induced encephalopathy. Any experience about that or advices on it?
@@sithu0909 I hope you stay strong. My aunt did well too. After 6 cycles of ifosfamide, her primary tumor site is tumor free. Good luck! May God bless you
Hi, My mother is suffering from mysofibroscarma. Dr. said for amputation of full leg as it has spread so started taking chemo ifosomid with immunotherapy. Will it work as she don't want to do amputation
what an amazing and inspiring young lady x
I’m currently battling with a knee lump and pain. No one wants to get me tested. I’m going to urge for a MRI with contrast because this lack of awareness kills people.

I am a 38 year old female who developed a tumor on my left thigh. I was able to see it in January of 2023 but had been experiencing pain and discomfort on my legs since July 2022. The tumor was removed on 12 june 2023, before chemotherapy or radiation could be done because l was misdiagnosed with a normal lipoma. But received my histopathology results yesterday and diagnosis is spindle cell sarcoma. How can l get help from UK specialists. Am in Zambia

My doctor said the same thing to me that its anxiety but the pain is so real I wished I could transfer the pain to them seriously bcz of the hand numbness they took a head CT and a cervical xray but that came out normal so I'm on neuropathic pain relieving medicines. They're not aware of myeloma or sarcoma. I just pray to god that they find it before it metastsizes.
