However, there are good reasons to be wary of centralization.
The most important thing _strategically_ is that enemies of USA _will ASSUME the worst._ Think about that for a minute or two!
"Artificial Intelligence" is a buzzword thrown around nowadays. I wonder, if someone really dug into it, how much of it is *actually* AI? Or just some really convoluted algorithm?

I do think it will be interesting working in the satellite engineering field for the last 20 years the constant improvement, the tech is always getting better and it hasn’t really gotten us in trouble yet government satcom is nothing new, but AI combination will make things interesting, the Nvidia Blackwell computer chips, the NVidia infini NIC400Gps infini 7 connect cards and the Nvidia infini quantum 2 switches that are 1U but have a switching fabric of 51.2 Terabits per second the bandwidth on the fiber and NIC and processing as well as NVIDIA applications that bring AI into nearly every field it shall be interesting. Satellites too employing more laser tech and perhaps even all the way to the end user, with SDN technology these two fields fit very closely together and the ability to change a network on the fly being less hardware based as long as you have a incredily fast connection and wont need to be upgraded for several years cause we will define the software rather then the hardware so we have the ability to switch on the fly, it is just generalized hardware with a very specific software to do what we would like it to do, also the leaps forward on phased array antennas as well as mobile satellite platforms, more narrow beam usage for higher frequency reuse to improve throughput and dsp’s getting so good that carrier stacking and the sensitivity of them to be able to derive more throughput by stacking by also being able to use higher MODCOD and different polarization tech to really be able to widening the amount of data able to be put up as well as overall satellite network ability total through put
The newer Ideas of grouping multiple constellations in different earth orbits to work together to provide more throughput at a higher availability is also being considered especially for udp mobility data applications.
If Starshield is in fact AI controlled it must have a safety switch. Remember Genisys is Skynet.

I do think there are many reasons to avoid centralization in defense (as well as other sectors of government) that do not rely of fictional evidence.

Very interresting subject. This AI is everywhere. AI is a bit scary to me. End user is the problem. Like any invention there is a good way and the bad way using it. How far this AI will be able to self decide and howlong will it be under human control. I wont be there in 100 years or more, but it sounds like no limits in developping. We have AI in our graphic cards in our smartphones and almost evrywhere. What if this AI could somehow and someday really connect to each other creating an Ultra AI that we will not able to stop? The biggest danger of human is himself. Could AI a danger for itself? But as we all know, everything invented by human is not perfect. There should be rules for this AI but thats a long story. An AI gathering iinfos for defense. What if it takes control for attaking? As you said not all eggs in the same basket.So many questions about this AI. About AI my brain exploses in all ways. AI running everything is NOT a good idea. The ‘technology’ is not mature. Makes aspects of ‘Terminator’ seen frighteningly real. Humans must maintain control. Think of Tesla cars doing bad things when humans hand over total control! It is not the car it is human car interface or more correctly, lack of human machine interface that leads to bad outcomes. Elon is not perfect neither is his technology- now up to V4 Starlink……

On the one hand, it's gratifying to see SpaceX/Starlink get recognition but on the other hand I worry about the potential misuse of Starshield and Earth-to-Earth Starships, specifically to start unnecessary wars and overturn self-rule at the behest of oil companies, the Federal Reserve, or other vested interests.
I do think Musk is smart enough to keep himself at least one decision away from military/global decisions which is why Starshield exists because let's face it, in military situations there is no 'neutral' decision. As for AI, I don't think it is near as advanced as people think. Don't get me wrong, I understand the capabilities of our current public 'AI' and it is interesting and neat, however if you ask any current AI systems to create something original it can't. For example, if you ask AI to create a logo for company 'xyz' it can't unless you give it prompts and you supply creativity and a base level of thought. I would trust AI about as much as I trust internet security which isn't a lot. It will always be a game to some people of 'can I break this?', you just have to hope those people are not being malicious. People have already broke the current AI on the internet so don't be surprised when they break yours.
